It also depends on your situation and your station in life as well. One of my wife's friends from college. He got laid off from his job, didn't like his choice in careers and decided to join the army. He was either at 30 or close to it. We all told him he was nuts. He wound up getting into military intelligence in the Army. He happens to love it. And now he is making a career out of it. He is currently in the middle east on a tour right now. I have had my mix of family and friends that have been in the military. A few have liked it, most were happy when they got out. All of them say its not what they think it is. Its not like what you see on TV or in a movie.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Listen, it's logic. You honestly believe he only molested 2 children? Or that if he did more no one else wanted to come forward? You've really got your head up your ass if you believe so. Tell me how my logic is wrong instead of saying that it's not. The way people go and blindly trash on this man's name is sickening & somewhat funny to me. No one has any facts or evidence of anything, yet all you hear is "HE'S A MOLESTOR!!!!!!!!1!!1" You people make me laugh. And if you believe its normal for strange men to sleep in the bed with children that are not their own, then you have your head firmly up your ass. Here is a little tidbit, victims of sexual abuse especially children, don't exactly come forward in droves. If you want to see how that works lets review the Catholic Church sex scandal. Are we to believe that kids only recently started to get molested by priests. Oh, no it was actually in the 60s, 70s and 80s when this happened a lot. So why didn't it come out then. Maybe intimidation, maybe shame, maybe fear of confronting someone who is trusted. I don't see too many people thinking its normal for the 45 year old single loner down the block with the comic books, and video games to host sleep overs for the neighborhood kids. But then again, he can't sing and dance and people don't own his albums. Celebrate his talent sure. But there is enough to say something is rotten in Denmark.

White Sox GM Hampered by low Attendance
southsideirish71 replied to jasonxctf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) The truth is the fans haven't come because the product was crap. JR said the 2008 was boring. Its like a restaurant winning some prestigious award, but saying their food wasn't really so good. To fix it, they are going to use cheaper ingredients and raise the prices on the menu. That should fix things. The White Sox raised ticket prices and lowered payroll. What other team did that? They had the season ticketholder playoff money held hostage. I think that is something that is very important. If they sell off and aren't in a position to collect non refundable playoff money from season ticketholders, the poster suggesting a huge drop in renewals, probably will be right if the Sox try raise prices again. Considering JR's edict is to not lose money, so you would have to assume they didn't lose any last year, wouldn't the White Sox actions suggest they were anticipating a drop? Just remember, the only teams more expensive for a family to see are the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs. Even the Red Sox had trouble selling out playoff games last year. Gammons wrote they had tickets available day of game, and they weren't give backs. The White Sox gave the Dodger series a very high pricing tier. They priced a lot of people out. The numbers speak for themselves. That's not on the fans, that's on whoever tried to get an extra 15-20 a seat. Maybe Kenny should pick up a paper, or watch the news because they keep talking about the worst financial crisis since the great depression. Maybe some of the people who would normally go to a game, are trying to figure out how to pay their mortgage. Maybe some of them are worried about the future stability of their job, and might not want to fork down 160 to 240 bucks to take the family to the game. I consider myself a pretty well off fella. But when my company decides to close 20 percent of its locations in the US, I start to curb back some of my discretionary spending. Kenny and Ozzie also have been talking about fire sales and unpopular moves all year long. That sends a message. You can't talk about breaking up the team, and then after a quick run then wonder why large amounts of people are not paying 20 bucks more a ticket to see the team you called crap 10 days before. Sometimes I wonder about perspective of Kenny and Jerry. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) no way. WAY to skanky. Anne Hathaway... oh yea! You must like large teeth and no skin pigment.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) I think giving up Flowers at his peak value would be brilliant. Saltalamacchia had huge value a few years ago, but everyone has finally realized he's a DH. Same with Flowers... he's a DH masquerading as a catcher for now. It'd be smart to deal him. Trading any of our young guys away, when we are on the verge of reloading our rosters is short sighted and will cost us in the long run. This is a flawed team, and the idea of mortgaging the future for slight chance is not worth it. If we get into the playoffs we are already okay from a pitching standpoint. Our pitching is far from the problem this year. We are near the top in the AL in pitching, and our top 4 pretty much match up with anyone in a series. AJ is older Thome is old Dye is older and needs to be a DH soon. Konerko is older. This needs to be replaced in the short term, not the long term. I am not saying that all of our prospects are going to pan out, but they sure as hell can get you pieces for the long term. In this of all economies, young cheap talent is worth as much as gold. We only have to look back a few years on how emptying the system can screw us on a future deal. We could have Miguel Cabrera here right now if we didnt have a weak system at the time. Doc is a great pitcher, but its not our time yet for these types of deals.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) You gotta be kidding me. So someone finds a better system/provider for their needs and as a result are "punished" by the federal government for doing so? GMAFB Can't wait for our overlords to give us our life clocks as well.

Good teams can come back especially against crappy teams like the Royals. Lets get win number 3 when trailing after 6 innings. -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Why the f*** is Carrasco still out there? Honestly, at this point I'm hoping he gives up 5 more runs. If Poreda can't pitch today, he'll never pitch. I still don't understand why we started Poreda's clock so he can sit in the bullpen, and eat sunflower seeds. -

We need to be taking advantage of Minny beating up on the Tigers, when we play teams like the Royals. -

We are 2 and 31 when losing in the 6th inning. So we either needs to turn around a season long issue, or score some runs this inning. -

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) I guess it makes too much sense to give Richard a mental and physical break and let Poreda get the spot start. Ozzie already said he is willing to have Richard go through the growing pains this year, so he can get a Danks or Floyd type return the following year. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) I think Poreda gets the next start Remember who the coach is. He has at least 4 to 5 more starts of this type of crap before he even considers making a change. Poreda is basically an invisible player, and should be in AAA getting innings instead of being up here to perpetually warm up. -

We have to make sure we have the lead or are tied by the 6th inning. We only have 2 wins all year when we are losing after the 6th inning. We don't come back. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Facebook has become a great tool to connect with customers. Amazing the friendships that form. But some companies are afraid of technology, it can be abused. I know of one that blocked email We had it open for a while because people stated what a wonderful tool it was and how it could help our business. Then we got complaint after complaint of employees goofing off. The people who were clamoring for it for the most part, were spending 90% of their time keeping their friends in the know and not doing their job. So we made a company decision to block it, and only allow it to those who demonstrate restraint and that will use it for business use.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Between Tejada, Colon, Cruz and Soria, the Royals might lead the league in BP guys that routinely hit 95 MPH with their fastball. We routinely hit guys who throw 95 and above, so bring it. I would be worried if their bullpen was filled with left handers who throw 85 with a good changeup. -
