  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Who cares. Teams pay for steals. well hopefully this time we offer him arbitration, we had a free agent that would of netted us picks with Riske and we didnt offer him arbitration.
  2. If we lose tonight, we are looking at our 7th loss when our pitching staff holds a runner to 2 runs or less. The offense owes the pitching staff a lot of free dinners.
  3. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) Did Ramirez just gain 30 pounds of fat and shrink 4 inches? 30 pounds, you are looking at a bit more than 30.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) SHHHH Thome close and late .143 Has he had a hit all year against a loogy.
  5. Hopefully we can muster all of our offensive superpowers tomorrow and scratch out more than 3 hits, and maybe a run. Buerhle better pull out a vintage Buerhle shut down performance, because if he gives up runs we are f***ed.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) thome to pinch hit...maddon counters with a lefty...i would way rather have had ramirez vs. a righty than thome vs. a lefty...bad move ozzie Ozzie just got owned by another major league manager. Thome versus a guy who is shutting down lefties to a .195 Average. That was predictable.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) how you can compare those two is beyond me. People are making a comment that Anderson would look better with some ABs, and you are throwing out his major league average on a kid with a small sample size. You know some guys look better after a second start. Anderson doesnt have the talent level that Q has, but to crap on a kid for a small sample size is a bit bad.
  8. 7 innings, 5 hits, 10ks and 2 runs. And he is looking at a loss. Our pitchers could win 15 to 18 games with a team with a middle of the road offense.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) oh i bet they would look a lot like his career avg., .219, just a wee bit higher than when he did play every day. Can you tell me what Quentin's career MLB average was before this year. I am curious.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) i hate anderson I love our pitching, I loathe our offense outside of Quentin and watching a young guy like Alexei.
  11. Guys with changeups who expand the zone can destroy us.
  12. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) I wonder how it feels as a starting pitcher, knowing if you make one mistake and give up 1 run, there is a pretty damn good chance you're getting an "L" or at best, a no decision Well right now the Rays have the same amount of runs as we have hits.
  13. Another multimillion dollar "slugger" expanding the zone and swinging at a pitch well out of the zone. You know Scott is hard enough to hit when you attack the pitches in the zone, when you try and swing at pitches head level he becomes Cy Young.
  14. I could care less if Konerko had a rocket pack in his ass, he couldnt of made that play.
  15. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) This "offense" really makes me want to go smack someones mama...I'm so sick and damn tired of such lackluster, s*** performances from a batting order that is making MORE than their share of the team payroll Pull your f***ing weight, you sacks of s***. Imagine the stress on the pitching staff, realizing that any mistake is game.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) It's getting tiring hoping for this offense to finally catch a spark. They have to start scoring 5 runs a game for this team to consistently win. I'll say it again....fire Greg Walker! Well the weather is just dandy outside, its almost June. I expect the large offensive outburst to start anyday now. At least that is what we have been told.
  17. That might be a lot to ask for our offense to overcome, 1 run is a great day these days, 2 runs is a superstar effort with the entire offense clicking.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Kazmir is so nasty. he might be the best pitcher in the league now with santana gone Well he is no Jared Weaver.
  19. Our hitters need to stop expanding the strikezone, Konerko's swing was bad on that non-hittable pitch.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ May 31, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) It begins with the last game in Tampa Bay, and we all know how tough they are. They're gonna want to do whatever it takes to win that last game of the series, and with our lack of hitting, we're gonna need another miracle on the mound to take the last game of the series. Then we come home to play KC, and it's almost inevitable there will be an embarrassing turnout for those 3 midweek night games. All the talk in town will be about the amazing Cubs and the buzz they're generating, and with only 22,000 in attendance, bringing them down to #20 in average attendance, it could be very disheartening for the team and I can easily see KC stealing those games. Then we play MIN and DET.. nothing is gonna come easy. What I'm dreading most is the series vs the Cubs. We can't hit a damn thing, it's not a slump, we just can't hit, period. Thome, Konerko, Swisher, all easy strikeouts. I wouldn't be surprised seeing the Cubs getting a no hitter vs us, and that would send 2/3 of this city into a frenzy. The series at the Cell will most likely have more Cubs fans in attendance than Sox fans this year, since they're coming off a playoff appearance, they're in first place, they have the best record in baseball, and our season ticket base has completely dropped off to basically half of what it was in '06. Cubbie chants will probably drown out any Sox chants, it's gonna be a nightmare just to watch on tv. I can just see the Cubs taking off in June, and the Sox dropping out of first, and virtually out of contention. But if we can somehow get out of June and still be around first place, I'm betting on us making the playoffs and beating the Cubs in the World Series!!! If you are worried about attendance, I suggest you contact the sox and purchase a ticket plan. If you dont then stop with the attendance threads. Are you seriously worried about the chanting at the Cell during the interleague games, come on find something else to worry about. Our pitching is awesome, if these guys hit just medicore we are running away with this thing. Nut up for the love of god, its not even June 1st and you are buckling over having the best record in our division with our hitting being so bad. Good lord.
  21. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Everyone here has the opportunity to edit or delete their own posts. You put it up, you can put it down. Seems like a friendly thing to do. No one here is earning a living off this, we aren't after Pulitzer prizes. When we get so full of ourselves we can't allow people to retract their posts, priorities are seriously out of order. 22. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) sometimes good pitchers get rocked but if you think jered weaver is a scrub, you are sorely mistaken He isnt a scrub, but he isnt good enough to only give up one earned run in 4 starts against the sox. Thats beyond Johanesque.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) It's got to be .100 or worse. Here is a quote from WSI, I dont know how factual this is.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) Unfortunately, there's a better chance of Wise taking over as the full time CF than there is with Anderson doing so. Wise is this years Terrero. Another AAAA outfielder that Ozzie will use over a better defensive CF in Anderson.
  25. Well it looks like Alexei and his hitting are back sitting on the bench. Uribe is getting activated, and Uribe is the starter. Nothing like taking a bad offense, and taking someone out of it who is hitting. There is that falacy of Uribe can carry at team. The last time he did that offensively was 2004. "The Missile played pretty good," Guillen said. "We need Uribe to play second base. I'm not going to say we're a better ballclub, but we're a better defensive club when Uribe is at second." This is a dumb move. Alexei has played pretty damn good defense at 2nd. Whats the point of putting a bad hitter back out there for the upgrade in defense. Uribe can't hit.
