What should Ozzie do with Swisher?
southsideirish71 replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Back to the Swisher topic...someone floated the idea of sending him down to AAA for a while in the game thread tonight. Thoughts? At this point, how can it hurt? I think it will ruin him mentally, he is a hyped up guy. Benching him might send the message you are looking for, while keeping him from the embarrassment of moving down to AAA. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Considering those #'s are in AAA...no it's not. He struggled at the start of last year in AAA as well, then got hot and hit .283. He crushed lefty pitching when he came up and his power numbers increased. Its almost June and we have people that have been in a year long funk. You can't keep trotting them out there and pray that they get better. At some point you need to make changes.
-
Time to call up fields. Park one of the non hitting mutlimillionaires on the bench.
-
This loss is on the offense and how pathetic it is. We have a few multi million dollar hitters that need to start hitting.
-
It would be nice if the offense would show up for more than a game here and there. Wasting this kind of pitching is a f***ing crime.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) You know, sending him down for a week or two might not be the worst idea right now. Sending him down might crush him, his ego and the DirtyCat saloon and the cartoon character crap is part of his persona. I dont know if he can survive now going to AAA.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) dirty thirty. does he have any options left? We burned what was left of the farm for him, he better figure it out for now and for the long run.
-
That was a pretty horses*** ab from crede from the get go. Guy walks, and he starts expanding the zone on first pitch. No plan.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 30, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) Jim just can't seem to figure out when to pull the trigger. Well he needs to figure it out soon.

How this guy is still associated with the Roman Catholic church is beyond me. His mass is not a Roman Catholic mass, he gives communion to non-catholics, and he pulls this asshatery. After we ditch the morons who poke the kids, this goof needs to be next.

Sadly, This win will be overshadowed...AGAIN!

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) Once again the White Sox impress all of the baseball world with their excellent play of late. And tonight they downed the Rays of Tampa Bay with a 5-1 victory behind John Danks. But tomorrow in the newspapers across Chicago (Tribune, Sun-times, and Daily Herald) the Cubs will have the front page with their lack-luster win over a terrible Rockies team. When are the writers of this city going to pull their heads out from the ass of the Chicago Cubs? I still recall the cubs being the top story in '05 even though the Sox were the best team in baseball. I hate to open the newspaper daily because it just angers me to see a picture of Soriano, Zambrano, or Soto on the front page of the sports. Enough is Enough! Time for a profanity laced sentence. F**k those c***s*****s with every f***in win they get in their sh***y season. Who the hell cares. This is an old tired argument. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 29, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) Don't read too much into a rehab assignment. My guess is Uribe is our 2B and Ramirez is the utilityman again. Uribe has more power than Alexei and hits for about the same average. Alexei has my vote to stay with the big team though. We have enough power on the team, I would rather have Uribe as the utility guy and play Ramirez everyday. He is hitting for average for the last month, and ads speed to the mix.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) The thing that bugs me about Ramirez is that he really seems to have a low baseball IQ. Well its not like the guy that he is replacing was a rocket scientist either. He made bonehead plays as well, and is in the league for a lot longer. Hopefully he learns and gets better. But we need to ride the hot bat right now.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) I wonder if MLB told umps to start calling pitches off the plate. Games all over the majors have looked like calls made by umps in the little league world series. They should just call knees to the nipples over the big white plate. They call that, and the game will speed up enough. They dont need to expand outside the zone, just call the real zone. -

I am a conservative, and this is just as silly as the google argument. In the US we call that particular piece of clothing a scarf. In the winter, I take one of those, and I use it to keep my neck warm. -

Carlos Quentin has a nose for driving in runs. 47 RBIs before June 1st. Jesus Christ. -

AJ hits the ball the other way down the line, and drives in a run. Thats what I wanted Cabrera to do, however its 1956 and we are in the National League. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Why and the f*** are they still having him try and bunt? That was bad managing. Double steal here. Giving up outs, for this team is not good. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) so does Oz let him swing or bunt? National League baseball, we waste outs. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) OC certainly getting thte opportunites to endear himself to his not as good as Mike Scosisa manager. I would like to see one of those Cabrera right field line drives that run down the right field line and we get people to run all day. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) I really hope they get their focus back, and that the stuff in the clubhouse yesterday blows over quickly. That has little to do with their crappy hitting. That distraction is nothing. -
