  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Location on the fastball, back door slider, great change-up, good curveball, and works fast. Yes, I'm serious. Lets just take their best pitch when its on. Buerhles cutter > Garlands sinker. Buerhles cutter handcuffs righties. Garland doesnt throw a true turbo sinker that just gets groundballs like crazy. They still get the ball in the air a lot on Garland.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) Are you being serious? That is ridiculous to say. If you think that Garland has better stuff than Buerhle then I think you are silly. Jon throws harder yes. but overall stuff, its not even close.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) Lots of scouts look at stuff rather then stats, and there is no question that Garland has better stuff... Mark Buehrle better go for the CG... If I had to bet my season on a guy, Buerhle or Garland I would take Buerhle hands down and twice on Sunday. Buerhle has had stones from the time he came up from the minors. Garland up until a few years ago, had tiny nuts syndrome. Where if something bad would happen he would s*** the bed. Judy shows her ugly head here and there.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) If that's the last we saw of him, it's been a heck of a ride. and if thats the last we see of him, JR and KW need to give more money to Brooks. Because spinning this s***, will take a marketting master of ninja skills level. Give him the NTC, and just call it a day. I cant wait till next year when we get a top 5 draft pick and JR keeps his no Boras talent, and we wind up with some dude ranked 35th, but because he is signable we go for it.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) Why is it that Buehrle went years without getting much media love, and now that he's about to be traded, he's one of the greatest lefties in recent times? If he winds up on the Red Cubs he will become the best left that has ever toed a rubber. Schilling will personally welcome him, and will talk about how they have 5 aces, and that they are a lock to win everygame in the playoffs. ESPN will then talk about how Mark always wanted to be a Red Cub since he was a little boy. ETC ETC ETC
  6. 4 hits for the offense against Teen Wolf. Walker must laugh everytime he cashes a check. He comes home, Yes honey, another one. A big fat one this time. Oh what did I do at work today, well I had them hit in the cage, but come on, they got here with their swings. I then drank a beer and passed out. It was a great day.
  7. Now the Tom and Grace mope show is butchering a gaelic name for the Taco Bell will you marry me thing. Siobhan is pronounced Shi - Vawn.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Buehrle is killing me. His trade value is so high (and going higher) that our depleted organization NEEDS to trade him since we need the guys he'd bring back. But he's so likeable and will sign for so cheap if we just give him a little old NTC. I have learned to USUALLY keep my heart out of sports decisions/opinions, but it's not working here. At all. To me its simple. If he is going to be traded. It should be for the creme of the crop top shelf guys. Like a Gomez/or Milledge and Pelfry or a Bucholz package from the Red Cubs or a Kemp package from the Dodgers, or a Saltallamacia package from the Braves. I dont want to see him moved, if its a B prospect and 2 Cs. Take the the picks and allow this to be his fairwell tour. If he is going to sign a deal, then move something else.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) Have radio on at work. Seems like Farmer has been in the bathroom or something for awhile. Singleton talking to himself. Horrible radio. Well the baseball in that inning sucked as well. Get two men on. Move them over. Let them die. Watching Buerhle dominate now, and thinking that a simple NTC is going to let him go. I am getting sick just thinking about this. Grace is a boob. 3 hard hit balls. If he thinks that the seeing eye popup from Castillo is hard hit, he is hard hitting the booze between innings.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Dye gets pulled just before game time, and not one trade rumor? I'm disappointed in you guys! Dye has flulike symptoms.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) Dye with fllu-like symptoms. Wonderful. The only worry for me on the Dye situation, is that this is truly f***ing us. If we trade him, we are getting s*** back. If we offer him arbit, if he takes it yikes. And if he goes to Texas like we think, yikes again. Our comp will suck. This is getting to be an ugly situation no matter what. Note to the Whitesox, admiring a team for their hard work, and their baseball savy is okay. Giving them a rallying cry, and a marketting campaign is a bit too much. If we really want to be like the twins. We need to seriously change our development process. Teaching fundamentals. Teaching a fundamentally sound swing, that can project later for power would be nice. Teaching our guys how to catch and throw the baseball would be nice.
  12. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) anyone notice how well the twins are at making contact with the ball? they seemingly NEVER swing and miss, what's up with that? Well they are not programmed to aim for lane 4 of the Dan Ryan Watch our swings, the backswing on some of them could blow over a small village. The twins are a line drive hitting team for the most part. We are a softball team. When you have low BA, no OBP, no hits, no doubles, a lot of strikeouts its called swinging for Lane 4 of the Ryan.
  13. They need to ditch Uribe after this year. He has been a turd this year on some easy plays. He cant hit, and now he cant field. Nice catch in 05, have a nice career somewhere else.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) Buehrle vs. Boof (Not the girl from 'Teen Wolf') You have to beat a guy, who legally changes his name to that of the nickname of a girl from the immortal movie Teen Wolf.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 12:26 PM) I'm watching Floyd's start right now....that curve he threw on Morneu's homer was a pretty hard good curve. The only bad part you could say is it was in the middle, but the ball was down. Either way I try not to grade guys based on one outing but I have noticed he now has a fastball that he can get that kind of sinks down below the zone which should help him get a lot of ground balls. I just don't get why he's living on the outside of the plate so far in the game (I've only gotten through a couple innings). The living on the outside of the plate I think is what allowed the Twins to jack him so much. AJ and Coop, seem to get into a pattern every so often when they call away away away, especailly with young pitchers to pitch away from Contact. When you have power hitters like this, I would like to see Floyd back the hitter off the plate a bit, then crack the curve off. This is the same thing we see with Buerhle from time to time. Buerhle is very effective pitching in, when he runs his cutter in he dominates. When he and AJ get into a pitch away from contact away away away mode, he gets rocked. Now Buerhle is in a different world compared to Floyd, but young pitchers like Floyd, like Danks need to pound in, and then go away with their secondaries. When you pitch to one zone, you give the hitter the advantage and you allow them to extend their hands and swing free and without fear.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) Being there all day today was quite the spectacle. It's amazing how poor this is fundamentally, with horrible base running, pathetic defense, and just idotic things like Gavin Floyd pitching from the stretch with no one on base and Jerry Owens not stealing 2nd base when he's not being held on. And as for Ozzie...all I know is that 36 runs later, I can't believe we didn't throw a purpose pitch. Gavin has a live arm. Why when we have pitchers who throw 93 and up, do we not throw inside. When you go away away away they are going to do what they did today. Extend and jack the ball. You dont have to plunk everyone, but for the love of god, run a 2 seamer on the inside corner and back them up a bit.
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Let us never forget the July 6th massacre of 2007. Many were lost in the 32 run attack put on by the Twins. .............. 30 seconds have passed since the game ended and still no trade. Get on it, Williams. Do your job. Well Ozzie was convinced enough that he had a run with this team left this season, that was before the violent destruction this day. Never forget.
  18. 58-21 and we are in the playoffs. Right now, the Tigers and Indians must be saying, it looks like that perfect storm is leaving the Cell, and the killers of killers are coming to launch one of the greatest comebacks in the history of baseball.
  19. AJ strikes out to end the game. BOOOO. I was hoping for the impending walk off.
  20. The Chicago bears have converted the extra point. They are going to attempt the onside kick here with 10 seconds left.
  21. QUOTE(GOD @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) I'm feelin it Take 2 tums and you will get over that feeling.
  22. Captain Profundo over/under on number of pitches he sees before he puts the ball in play. I am going with 2.
  23. Just put your John Hancock on the document Kenny and Ozzie. Damn pen, its run out again. Just use your own blood. Alright there. You will be in playoff contention in a month. Remember to look surprised when the Twins, the Indians, the Tigers and their minor league teams all fall asleep for the next 2 months.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) Well, to be fair, this team didn't have Erstad today. Sure if Grinder and Pods were on this team, we would be winning 38 to -9. Their combo of grinder and speed would kill any hope of them scoring runs, and would scare each pitcher into walking everyone in.
  25. The team should get liquored up before the next game. Or maybe they did that before they took the field. Guillen will either sound like he is depressed in the post game comments, or he will mother f*** everyone on the 25 man roster.
