There is another method of getting talent besides trades and losing players. One just involves money. Remember all of that money that we saved by tanking for years. The money that we also wasted on players like Jon Jay, Alonso and other fillers that we signed during the rebuild. I am not saying just empty the bank. But picking up Trevor Bauer or Springer immediately makes this team better and in a much better position to win in the short and long term.

So to save some money on the back end he uses international bonus pool money that other teams covet because its a lottery ticket as a way to sweeten the pot. We have sent 1.2 million dollars of International bonus money to the Rangers in the last year and a half. I think that would be nice to have in our model especially with our cuban pipeline. If they want to be the Rays, then be the rays. If they want to play with the big boys then be the big boys and spend. You cant just sit back and do nothing or coast.
