Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems
southsideirish71 replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So the running theory in the other thread due to the food groups twitter is that it was either Dunning+ for Darvish+Heyward or Dunning+ for Lynn. And if thats the case then I am livid. Not because of Dunning, fuck Dunning. But Darvish is a better pitcher and is signed to a longer term deal. Heyward solidifies RF for a few years. In the end if money was selected over a better return then once again we got jobbed. -
Rumor: Sox discussing deal with Cubs/Rangers
southsideirish71 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well they are handcuffed by a cheap owner who loves his money and thinks he is taking it to the afterlife then. Fucking stupid JR. Darvish over a few years and Heyward in RF would of solidified this for a long time. Darvish >>>>> Lynn. -

Typically you can use this thing called cash to get people to play in places they would never dream of playing. If its equal or close sure a choice might be made. But in the end FA dollars matter. So this is not really about FA not wanting to show up here. Its because our ownership thinks that deferred dollars and team options late in your career are more valuable that guaranteed money and years from competing teams. If the Royals pony up the highest amount of money by a good amount Bauer is putting on a Royals uniform and talking about how its a young exciting team and how he has always loved KC. -

Lance Lynn in game 2 of a playoff series is a massive win over anyone else on the roster, even Keuchel. So for next year. Massive upgrade. They need to pen him to a multiyear deal. Because if its just for one year then we are back to trading more prospects next offseason to fill the same hole. -

The RF decision should be interesting. -

What is more likely. JR to open the pocket book to get premium free agents here. Or Jerry to part with prospects in a trade no matter how they rank. If you want to trade prospects, fine got get Snell. He would be around for a lot longer than one year. I know it costs more but getting one year of a pitcher for the beginning of a run is not sound logic at best. Don't waste bullets on these moves that fix a hole for a year. -

Remember JR will burn the farm system to the ground if he can give up prospects over paying 9 figure FA demands. Dont get too attached to anyone. They are all ready to go. TLR was hired not to win in perpetuity. But to win next year. Now winning next year and spending money, they dont exactly have to be mutually exclusive. I expect deals that might make Kenny W go full staff but might make everyone a bit uncomfortable. I could care less about Dunning. But in the end they are all cattle to Jerry. -
Passan: Springer to White Sox not happening
southsideirish71 replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is the most frustrating thing about this. We were sold that with all of the savings over the years that they would be ready to go top dollar to push this over the top. In the end Jerry is still Jerry. -
God listening to Mitch after a game is horrible. Its always about the other team making a play. Well they made a play because for the umpteenth time you didn't protect the football. Stop acting like this is just an amazing play by the defense. This is a mediocre QB on his best day. Great pick Pace. Both of you plus Nagy should be unemployed after this season. Good lord.
-
The offense and nagy suck. But both can be true. The bears offense can suck and the defense can be mediocre as well. For years we have watched the defense bail out the offense. Now that they are not an elite defense we are now just going to watch losses just pile up.
-
Hi I am Coach Pagano. I have inherited a defense that was one of the best in the league. Put my spin on something that a child could of managed and turned it into dogshit. Now people have figured out how to scheme against me and I have no idea what to do. So we will just keep doing what we have been doing and hope for the best.

Official: McCann is a Met, $40/4 years
southsideirish71 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They signed him as a FA after he played with the Astros. They obviously got over it. Maybe you should too. -
The big difference is that Hahn and company went out and pre-emptively locked up a good amount of the young talent at pretty damn affordable rates. We have the crux of our core in it for the long term of the competitive window. We are at a point to add to tip us over the top. Not to build the thing. Our guys so far have hit at a good rate. Every team has busts but so far, knock on wood, these guys look the part.

Len Kasper is new White Sox radio play by play announcer
southsideirish71 replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is a great hire. Both the radio and the tv have an amazing and talented crew. Now when Stoney does his breaks during the season Len can come up and spell him. No negative to this at all. -
Agreed. And Andrew could always platoon as well to get his feet wet. I would love it if Andrew came up and just hit major league pitching right away. But all we have to do is to look at Robert to see that the process is adjustment and readjustment. This is too important of a time to worry about blocking people. if he is as good as we hope, he will force the lineup changes.
-
Thats why its laughable that anyone thinks that our pitching staff even if every one of the young pitchers hit are ready to go toe-to-toe with the Dodgers or the elites of the AL in a playoff series. If they go all in and get Snell or Bauer sure. But the Quintanas and other associated 3rd tier guys are not going to do it. They need to match up with multiple top guys. I would say that our current #2 is not a true playoff #2 right now.
-
Tell him to let the owner know this is the strategy.
-
Whats the advantage of not bringing him up.
-
Imagine if they got the bright idea that Schwarber could play RF.
-
Well that is a limited group of guys. Pederson is probably the only thing that is out in the FA market that fits that bill.
-
We are now in our competitive championship window. This is the time to push forward and to attempt to win championships in a sustained approach. Maybe Katz can fix Cease/Reylo, Maybe Kopech comes out strong and is everything we want, maybe Dunning is everything he can be. In the end you go out and get one more stud pitcher. You still have 2 spots in the rotation to fill then. You use the overage for bullpen/trade chits.
