QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) First question is whether the Sox are CONSIDERING trading Bobby Jenks? IMO, if the Sox won't be competitive for many years, then why do we need a upper-echelon closer like Jenks? Given that Jenks is locked up for many years at a reasonable rate, he could probably fetch MORE than anyone of the Starting Pitchers. Agree? If we blow up the team, why would we keep Jenks? He seems like a luxury that a rebuilding team should not have..... Thoughts? Closers that cost the minimum are not a luxury on any team. If he was a high priced guy, sure it would make sense to move him. But he is cheap, and its not like we have any alternatives. If we ditch bobby and try and get a closer in a year or so, it will cost either in large amounts of prospects or cash.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
southsideirish71 replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) Theo is in the driver's seat. If he wants Buehrle, he can try and deal for him. If he doesn't want him, he doesn't have to. Personally, I don't think Schilling is a good bet to hold up for the year; Matsuzaka might fall apart yet; Beckett's strong, but how long will it last?; Wakefield? Put Buehrle into that rotation on that team and it's a lot stronger. Economics 101 Supply verus Demand When Supply is low, and Demand is high, prices can be raised without penalty to demand. How many pitchers of Marks caliber are on the market. How many teams are calling KW right now asking about him. How much money will a team rake in, if the win the world series. If they believe that Buerhle is the icing on the cake. -
Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?

Pure f***ing comedy. Someone got paid for this. Remember Theo is in the driver seat. I wonder if Sawx fans think he can turn water into wine -
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:12 AM) "Is that really that much of a net upgrade effectively sitting Duque for Beurhle?" You had to have made that one up. No, this is an actual thought in someone's head. El Duque has pitched real well in the last 2 games though. LOL

Here is some of the wisdom I found from the reality of the Mets Boards.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) You actually think those guys will keep that up? Pencil El Duque for 200 innings and perfect health.

QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:52 AM) it was quite a challenge getting through the registration process. I thought after slaying the dragon it would get easier, but jesus it just got harder and harder!! oh, nevermind, all I had to do was enter my e-mail address and a user name and a password. very difficult. i understand that you're not going to be very receptive to the idea of not being to get as much back for buerhle as you'd like, as that's all you have to look forward to this year. but don't worry, there's always next year, and you guys definitely have a young, solid nucleus to build around. oh... anyways, simmons says there's a 5 year grace period, so try and wait out the next 3. Yeah why would anyone think that you were being a dick.
-
QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) I was just providing a well-reasoned, well-informed viewpoint from somebody who follows the Mets very intently. If you all want to try and turn this into me somehow trying to sell you on our C level prospects or whatever other ulterior motives I have, so be it. Irritable lot over here... I wonder why? So you went through the registration process, so you could educate us on how we arent getting your top prospects. Great, we aren't. Thank you.
-
I love it when people go to all the effort of creating a name on an opposing board, so they can educate their fanbase on how we should be thrilled to get some of the C prospects and turds that their boards have been pushing. Somwhere between what our fans think, and what your fans think is the middle. And that is probably still wrong. When they make the announcement on the trade, we will find out what happened.

QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) who said there was anything more to it? this is a thread talking about the mets interest in buehrle. I am just representing what is likely to be the Mets' interest in Buehrle. I thought it'd be useful in light of the ridiculous trade proposals in this thread. Kazmir waves Hi.

Josh Fields and team's lack of clutch hits
southsideirish71 replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Yes that is a good point. I just thought it would have been nice to see him be the Sox player to smash a key hit yesterday or today. He had a couple chances to steal the headlines and he made weak outs just like the rest of his teammates. He is a rookie, who has been up for a cup of coffee and we are already ripping him? Come on now. The season is over, lets see what the kid can do. He looks pretty decent to me. And his power looks real good. He is replacing the 07 version of Crede who couldnt hit to save his life. So anything we get out of the rookie is gravy. -

I like the approach Pauly took there with that at bat. Did you see the extension on the suicide shrug. I mean that is something else. -

I wonder if our offense feels like they are stealing when they get paid for being baseball players. They are all technically designated fielders. -

In the next series, we face Kazmir, JP Howell and Shields. Our batters are probably just busting at the chomps to get a hold of that after facing the dynamite Cubs pitching. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) And according to Heads' post, he advances at his own risk, which Pagan did, and since Pie was standing on 3rd, he could not have advanced, therefore, he is tagged out and should be out. Then, Pie ran home for no reason and is tagged out as well. Exactly. He was safe at 3rd, but much like a walk. He can be awarded the base, but the minute he moves off of it. he is fair game. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) They ruled fielder interference. I know Pagan is definitely safe because of it. Pagan can be safe. but the other 2 tards should be out. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) Uribe never touched any runner, FWIW. He got out of the way of Derosa going back into 2nd. Pagan is out at 2nd, Pie is out at home. He obstructed him. Its not like Uribe was involved in the play and he was in front of the runner. He decided to camp out at 2nd like a statue. It was a dumb play. -

Uribe can f*** up anything. He better not be on this team next year. He cant hit, he cant field at a high level anymore, and now he is running into people. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) That and Josh Fields uncanny ability to miss every fastball by 3-4 inches. This is the reason our prospects come up here and die. Somewhere in the minors, they were permitted to keep a long and looping swing. In the minors, is where it should be broken down, and retaught to be a line drive major league swing. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I think Andy Gonzalez may have taken over as my most hated Sox player. Dude is everywhere when in reality he should be no where. For some reason, Ozzie thinks that this turd shines up like gold. Ozzie has a max effort not so talented guy that he always has to put in the lineup. Andy is it when Ozuna went down.
