  1. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) Who is the AAA hitting coach? I want no part of anyone that is part of the whitesox minor league organization that has prepared any of our prospects. Anderson's follies with low and away, should tell you how well he was prepared in the minors. Hire someone outside of the organization.
  2. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) You also have to take into consideration the stadiums and his stroke. He's a doubles hitter...balls in SF (unless hit by Bonds) don't easily fly out in RF, unless they're hit down the line. In Minnesota, you have the equivalent of the Green Monster, and he usually didn't the ball over the Hefty Bag. I would hope almost any player would hit more homers at New Comiskey, unless they came from Colorado. They should completely retool their line-up and move the dimensions back to that of Old Comiskey. Short of that, we're always looking to be a 3 run homer and a cloud of dust type of offense. With players such as Sweeney, Fields, Owens and Anderson coming up, I would hope JR and KW would seriously consider this option. When you see a hitter in the first part of 06 have a real high average, and not a lot of power. And then you see his average plummet, and his power numbers jump up quite a bit. Then you know what he is doing. AJ had a line drive stroke before he came to the sox. He was a gap to gap hitter. Now, he pretty much gets around on everything. Maybe the park has something to do with it. That all of our hitters have the no brain, and just see the fence and everlasting glory. But we have seen year after year, hitter after hitter becoming one dimensional. The names change the results are the same. We ditched Valentin and Lee because of all or nothing approaches. We couldnt win with those all or nothing swings. AJ Pre-allstar 06 .320BA 6 homers 17 doubles Post-allstar 06 .262BA 10 homers 7 doubles
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) I'd love to hear the annoucers of opposing teams reading off the lineup card, and having to control their laughter when a graphic says, "1. Erstad - CF - .171." It reminds me of August of 05 when we had Timo Perez DH and leadoff guy for the sox. Remember how bad our offense sucked in August of 05.
  4. PFB moment. They are trying to get hits, but they are so good that they hit home runs. WOW
  5. PFB ducks a great question. Why does Crede and Konerko look like they are trying to pull every pitch over the left field fence for a homer. PFB ducks it and talks about doubles.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) You know it. its time to do this thing. Your thread is in stealth mode, as most people are staring at your avatar.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) Atleast it'll get better in future seasons.... Oh wait, Andrew Miller and Francisco Liriano will return. They have the unfortunate advantage of throwing hard from their left arm. And none of the dominating lefties will leave, unless Minnesota trades Santana. Which I personally doubt would happen unless they receive a huge return. How have teams beaten good lefty pitching. They shorten their stroke up, and go to right. Its how you beat good lefty pitching. Even Hawk knows this. You watch how teams have beaten Buerhle, take Mike Sweeney for example. He would foul off the low and away pitch, and drive one into right. Then Buerhle would go in later, and he would turn on it and bounce it off the concourse. Hitting oppo, gets you pitches on the inside to turn on and drive.
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Robinson Tejeda - 7 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 3 K; 100 pitches Just don't understand. It's patience at the plate; I would assume he was a bit wild if he allowed more f***ing walks than hits. It's actually putting good swings on the ball; that's 3 hits against a guy who opponents hit .288 off of last year. It's horrible hitting all together. Fire Walker, and then fire Erstad. This offense has been a joke for 4 months. My comment in chat tonight. This is a guy the sox should light up. He doesnt have enough control to throw to the outside corner enough to shut them down. You just wait out the count, and a good fastball will come to crush. I never thought that they would after the first inning would start free swinging crazylike It makes no sense. If it was one player, then you bench him. But my god everyone was just flailing away, like it was a getaway day. They should of crushed him. He is a basic 2 pitch pitcher. I know Hawk thinks that he has 9 pitches. But it was 2. You eliminate the change, and you get into a hitters count. This team for years would suck against soft tossers, but fastball pitchers who challenge them get rocked.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) To think of all the s*** you received these last several years when the issue of Walker was brought us. Especially with the dearly departed, JimH. Yeah, sort of reminds me of my crusade against our minor league system. I was continually criticized until the trades of Garcia and McCarthy, then people suddenly realized we needed young pitching to compensate for the lack of immediate talent. Not to mention the flaws of our "safe" draft philosophy. The sad thing, is its not just Walker. It has to reach down, through the system to get this fixed. The twins and the Indians bring up a hitter. They hit, with a short quick stroke. Our guys come up, with a long looping power swing. Thats just not a coincidence. When was the last time a guy came up and hit. You know, it does happen. I understand its a hard transition. But some hitters come up and make contact and dont have a long looping swing. Schuster says that Greg works overtime to get the hitters ready. This is an overtime type effort. Good lord. I hope he doesnt take a day off.
  10. We are now hitting .215 as a team. Jon Garland thinks we are the best team in the American League. LOL. He blames the cold. LOL QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) Point taken. But look at Cleveland in '05, or Houston. I think everyone's just pushing too hard right now. The team seems to get so demoralized whenever something bad happens. I don't see anyone smiling. I guess this is where Ozzie should come in: lighten up, boys--hack away, sooner or later the worm is gonna turn. Do you see this team playing 700 ball for a good part of the season. Especially against the tought left handed pitching we face in the central.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) Hey guess what Rongey? I've seen Erstad make atleast 4 HUGE mistakes in the field this year, 3 in CF and 1 at firstbase. What game are you watching? He made that up with a 4-3 and some charlie hustle to first.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) And Rock would be near the bottom of most everyone's list. I agree.
  13. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) Not to be Hawk here, but I'd rather suck nowadays than go over the cliff in August/September, like we usually do. It doesn't make it any less ugly, but let's get the losing out of the way now. As long as we're in it approaching the ASB I'll be okay. That said, watching this game tonight was about as uplifting as watching Hostel: The Director's Cut. Since when in the history of watching the whitesox have we ever been accused of being a 2nd half team. Our MO is lighting it up in the first half, and then dying a slow death in August. Slow starts scare me. Even last year, we started slow and the won a bunch of games.
  14. Some dude talking about playdoh. This is the dumbest analogy I have ever heard on the PFB show. Thats saying something.
  15. The funny thing, is if one was to look at the thread 99% of soxtalk would think that I created it.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) Yes, Walt still retains god like status around these parts for his work done with Thomas and Uribe. The man is a miracle worker. Papa Jack is available. Someone in the twins organization, that helped prepare talentless guys like Punto to hit as good as he does.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) When a team struggles this badly, you HAVE to fire the hitting coach, you just have to. So many teams before us have done this to shake it up, and its time it happened. Thanks for the memories Greg, but you are OUT! At least I am a trend setter. I was way ahead of the curve on this one.
  18. I am waiting for the dumb thread to be posted about how, if we only acquire Rowand that we can reunite the 3 stooges, and make the team better. Imagine a combination of Grinderstad and Rowand slamming into walls, smashing into the ground. Breaking their faces. Grounding out to the pull side. Wow that would make things better.
  19. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) who is PFB? Rongey, the Pink Fuzzy Bunny. Too sugarry sweet, you might get cavities listening to him.
  20. Saw this on another board. 39-50 over the last 89 regular season for the sox. Thats a f***ing great team right there. How could they put them as a prediciton for 4th.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) So Ozzie named Erstad and Ozuna his leadoff hitters before the game? What's Darin's OBP sitting at right now? There you go using stats again. Ozzie won a world series, and his magic 8 ball is > than your managerial experience. Grinders are not defined by stats. Its diving on the dirt. Its bunting for no reason. Its grounding out 4-3. h8tr
  22. Jim from Plainfield Pods injury should lead to Ozuna as a full time leadoff hitter. Sure that should be fun.
  23. Jim from Justice Joe Crede has something else on his mind. Thats why he is having a problem. Thanks Jim that was a dumb comment. Streak hitters only according to Jimbo. PFB is concerned. I am sure it keeps him up at night. Jimbo its called home run hitters. Swinging for the fence doesnt provide consistancy.
  24. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) Must we create a thread after every loss. The team played awful. Not much more you can say. Just wondering what the hell Greg Walker is doing. Tell the team to win more, and we will create some happy fuzzy White Sox winner threads.
