  1. Here is the 2004 Starting rotation and their ERAs MB 3.89 ERA JG 4.89 ERA FG 4.46 JC 5.30/EL 4.86 Showenweis 5.59 ERA Kind of looks similiar to what we have now. One guy below 4. And then the rest.
  2. Garland on the PFB show was talking about the humidity and the weather helping the ball carry. One question, isnt he a sinkerball pitcher. Brandon Webb can come into a game and keep the ball in the park, because he uses his turbo sinker. When you have a sinker use it. Garland gets hurt more on leaving his changeup up than any other pitch. We are in Felix Diaz/Danny Wright/Jason Grilli/Arnie Munoz territory right now with our starting pitching. Our team is now ranked 9th in the AL in pitching. We are just ahead of Cleveland and Toronto.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Why not give Gload a chance to play LF? There's no chance he can be worse than Pods or Ozuna out there. Those guys can only catch fly balls hit directly at them anyways. Even Pods today said his arm is awful. However, Ozzie said he's the best we have out there, so he'll keep playing. Because Ozzie cannot have his Marlin offense without his Pierre type up on top. He needs his little fast guy leading off. Thats why its been Ozuna or Pods only. Last year we used Timo who isnt fast uptop when Pods went down, yet mackowiak cant crack the lineup unless its to play a position he cant play.
  4. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Thats what I don't get. We list McCarthy as untouchable, and there is no way we trade him, but we use him out of position all year, when he could be easily hold his own in the rotation. It just makes zero sense. We dont use him in the rotation because our manager thinks he is horrible.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) I would love to see Ozzie call Garcia or Vazquez horrible. If KW wants to get bmac in the rotation he needs to trade one of our starters. If we mosey into next year with what we have, bmac will be in the bullpen again for the year. Another year towards arbitration down the toliet.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) Our starting pitching sucks, as does our LF and CF position. If we can get some improvements from those positions, we're going to play better baseball. Well I was hoping to see bmac in the rotation this year, however according to Ozzie bmac was terrible last year. I guess having a 1.59 ERA down the stretch is horrible and our current rag tag group of starters are a much better option than the super stud that we dont want to trade unless we get a kings ransom.
  7. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) I don't know what to make of this loss, great effort late, but the Garland was absolutely disgusting. Feel free to discuss. Well our manager thought he was pitching good enough to bring out in the 7th for whatever reason.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) Well, one thing is sure for me. No matter how obvious it is the Sox need a different LF, we aren't going to see anyone new until Sept. call-ups or 2007. I also don't understand bringing Garland back for a batter in the 7th. That cost another run. Evidently Ozzie has a rule that the last batter the starter faces must reach base. Ozzie needs to click the eject button on the 2005 WS DVD. Because I think he uses that to help him figure out when to pull his pitchers. He waits until they get raped in the 7th inning, then pulls them either with men on or men in already. Then he picks the worst possible guys to get out of it, either Riske or Cotts is the flavor of choice with men on. Two contact pitchers who have a propensity to give it up.
  9. We should of made a play for Brady Clark. I am sure that he could of helped us out in LF and also gave us a good option to spell Brian from time to time.
  10. Someone from the sox needs to have a sit down with the Hawk and tell him to stop the constant complaining about the umps. Its very Santo like.
  11. QUOTE(soxyess @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) This is the second time in a week that we have had the bases loaded and no outs and failed to score a run. What a bunch of garbage. This is the very reason this team will NOT make the playoffs. Everyone trying to swing for the fence instead of just getting a hit. Well this is what happened with the post ASB 2004 whitesox. medicore pitching, a great offense one night, then they struggled to get a hit the next night. That season signature moment was Carlos Lee striking out a few times with the bases loaded and 1 or no outs playing the twins at home. KW was so upset that he was quoted in the paper saying if he saw another person trying to hit a home run and strike out with RISP he would throw up. That was when I knew that Carlos was gone. I think if they are really into a pitching and defense team they need to redo the fences. The close fences really makes our team have problems after the ASB. The minute the park heats up we start going for the fences. The minute late July hits, the bats get a little tired and you see a lot of warning track power and pull foul home run distance almost homers, followed by infield popups, the rollover grounder or the silly K. If we played in a large park like Detroit our team would probably try and hit more liners instead of trying to park every single pitch.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) I know it won't matter, but there's no excuse for PK to not score from 2nd on that double off of the fence. Abreu turned around to watch that ball go off the fence. Once he does that, you should be on your way. Joey Cora holds people when you should send them, and sends people when they should be held. They should just do the opposite of what he says and this team would score a bunch of runs.
  13. Bases loaded, no outs and 2 infield popups and the long fly we needed happened with 2 outs. Corpseball 2006 edition. I am sick of Hawk b****ing about the umps.
  14. And we will have the 3rd best record in our division after tonight. Nice job kids.
  15. 95 low and away and the knees with sinking action for strike one. 94 running in fouled off for strike 2. Then a dumb 0-2 pitch. Jesus f***ing christ. Is this team filled with people who dont know what do to with and 0-2 count. Now here comes the apendage obsessed manager who brings in Neal Cotts who has a hard time with lefties to face a lefty. Here we go kids. Lets see how far Giambi hits it.
  16. This is getting fuggly quickly. Mac to face AROD.
  17. Iguchi going towards the 2nd base bag is about as worthless as a sack of wet mice. Every game there is a Hawk Al Kaline reference.
  18. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) I really want to see a walkoff homer in the 9th. Give us some life.. seriously, let's keep it tied until the 9th. I would rather see a 5 spot this inning, and then let Riske finish it up.
  19. s***ty AB for Cintron. f***ing swinging for the Dan Ryan.
  20. Kid sits on the bench all night long, gets into the game, and takes nicely. Very nice job BA.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) OH MY GOD Too bad Brian didnt start this game.
  22. We need a few runs, and Anderson needs to get up from his rest and play some CF this game. Having the Mack attack out in CF is going to cost us if he stays in the game.
  23. Its the top of the 7th. Now he smart thing is to pull Freddy the first minute we see a sign of trouble. Ozzie however, believes in the lets have a chat with him. Pen should be up right now with a man on.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Isn't it amazing to see how the Yankees pulled Wang before this inning? Dont worry, Guillen will pull Freddy too, after he has his customary chat before he gives up the lead in the 7th.
