We have passed the 75 pitch barrier.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) This guy just doesn't have "it". Actually most men have 2 of them.
-
We have to lead the league in taken third strikes. What happened to the old adage of protecting the plate, especially with RISP and 2 outs.
-
QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Pierz flies out. Surprisingly, he throws his bat. The pattended bat slam, suicide shrug after the popout is sad. AJ and Kong love to beat the bat up after it fails.
-
AJ at least got to see a lot of pitches there. Yuck.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) yeah but its much more annoying at the cell....oh yeah did she find the toy in her cracker jacks....hey fatty Put this in a Yankee Hat, and a Yankee shirt, spill cheese sauce down her shirt, have all sorts of crumbs all over, and I pretty much have an identical likeness to the screaming female Yankee Fan.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) him or that guy at tropicana field he was kinda funny though The Tampa Bay heckler is just some guy banging on the tin sign, screaming all game long. He is over rated as annoying.
-
After listening to the Yankee fans banter in the background, who remembers the most annoying behind the plate fan this year, and I am not talking about the Red Sox manatee couple. Remember Mr. Wave the red shirt the whole game at Comerica. Just a guy, standing up, swinging a red shirt the whole game.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) The defense has given the Yanks two extra outs in two innings. Add to that the fact that Javy had to get K's to get out of the innings without runs scoring, that'll increase the pitch count quickly. Javy's done a great job pitching around the shoddy defense. Javy has done a great job pitching over mistakes tonight. Our D needs to make plays.

Getting hit in the wrists hurts like a b****.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) wtf is his pitch count? 45 through 2. Yikes.
-
The overly loud yankee fans are almost as bad as the 19 inning game against the Red Sox when the RedSox manatee couple was behind the plate.
-
The whiney loud Yankee fans behind the plate are annoying. Especially the loud old lady.
-
Not to sound like Hawk, but there are two different zones. The 2nd pitch to Thome almost hit posadas shoelasses and was called. And then Javy hits the corner and blue sticks his nose at it.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) No, no he wasn't. He took a bad line when running it down, but he wasn't on the warning track, nor was he playing too deep. He pulled up at the end, and then took his eyes off the ball, then the ball bounced by him.
-
Take him out of the game. That was one of the most pathetic attempts at a fly ball. Mr. Speed pulls up, and then lets the ball go past him. Double, it should of been an out.
-
Its pouring in Downers Grove right now. Well I am enjoying a nice Nancy's stuffed Pizza, and waiting for the game to start.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Why don't we wait until the season is over to discuss if one year was more disappointing than the other? Maybe it's just me, but my disappointment level is much less this season than it would have been if we didn't win the World Series last year. I'm not saying I'm giving the team a grace period though. I just think it's interesting how everyone is saying how disappointing this team is after one of our better "losses" in a long time. I don't believe in moral victories, but I do believe in momentum. "Momentum is tomorrows starting pitcher" is a quote I have seen used in baseball. Our offense is good, sometimes they get to jacked up and try to do too much. But that I think is due to our pitching. We need our pitching to collectively get their heads out of their rear ends. We see improvement from a starter for a start or 2 then back into crap city. We need our starters to be decent, they dont have to be superstars to win with our O. If we have our starters go 7 and only give up 4 we would be fine. But they have been giving up 6 to 9 in 7 and that just puts our O into a pickle. Ron Villone was quoted as he thought AJ was trying to go for the fences with the bases loaded. AJ is a line drive hitter, and when he goes for the fences he really gets out of his comfort zone. Why was he going for the fences, because our pitching gave up 7 runs and we needed a granny to get within a run. If we are down by a run or 2 AJ isnt probably trying to hit a granny.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
southsideirish71 replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
This is the reason why we failed with bases loaded and no outs last night. When the opposing pitcher sees you trying to go for the fence, you are focked. This is probably what the twinks were seeing when Carlos Lee did the same thing in 2004 with the bases loaded when he K'd a few times. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) The recently signed Mora to an extension at third, so I don't know how interested they'd be in Fields (unless they plan on moving him elsewhere), and if they didn't accept Roy Oswalt for Tejada, I doubt they'd want Garcia Thats because their owners is the worst in the MLB. Who would turn down Roy Oswalt.

KW tries to trade stuff as far away from hurting him as possible. So either he will get traded to the NL, or some crappy AL team that doesnt have a prayer, and we only face a few times a year.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:19 AM) Very interesting article from Joe Cowley; Freddy needs to go to the NL. It would give new life to his career. A team like the mets or the Padres should be interested in Freddy.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) so what season has been more frustrating, this one or 2004? This one by far. In 04 we had the injuries, we had the 5th starter by committee. We had that horrible stretch in August and Joe Borchard was our RF. I didnt expect to win then. I thought this year was going to be a cakewalk into the playoffs. I knew our O would be good, but I thought our pitching would show up. I never estimated how many bad moves Ozzie would make this year.

Since the allstar break... Pods .215BA .273OBP He is 3 for 4 in SB. 16ks vs 5bb Ozuna is hitting .080, with a .115 OBP, He is 0 for 1 in SB, he has 1bb and 10ks That is really really bad for our leadoff crew. Too bad KW didnt pick up Brady Clark. He jacked one off of Zambrano tonight. That .380OBP would be nice in front of the thumpers we have. And unlike our tandem of antiproduction, he has hit .327 with a .379OBP since the allstar break. AVG .284 | HR 2 | RBI 22 | OBP .380 | SLG .340
