  1. Politte comes in, Inherited runners score. So much for Garcias quality start. We have been playing pretty much around 500 ball over the last few 2 weeks. The offense looked great thumping the tribe on Monday only to s*** the bed over the last 2 days.
  2. In Jakes last 3 starts. Against Detroit 5.1 innings 7 hits 7 runs He shut down the Royals and their mighty O over 9 innings but before that they rocked him for 8 runs in 5.2 innings. So oddly people are hitting him, just not us tonight.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Has anyone from the White Sox ever explained the reason for Freddy's lost velocity? Its pretty alarming. The funny thing is how Hawk and the rest just said, oh here is Freddy and he is now a control pitcher, and just spun it off like its normal for a pitcher to lose a few mph off his fastball and reinvent himself.
  4. 3-0 feels like 10 to nothing right now. Our lifeless offense better get their collective heads out of their asses.
  5. At some point Uribe has to grab some bench. He is absolutely horrible out there night in and night out. Yet everyone is calling for Andersons head. Who is the rookie, and who is the vet.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) wow, the indians are on fire. FG has good stuff, and the tribe is getting extremely lucky with hitting good pitches. You mean Freddy has a good breaking pitch. His fastball is still a meatball. Last years Freddy fastball gets past some of these hitters.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Wow. They got a runner on, moved him over, and knocked him in. Just, Wow. Dont worry, the rest of our guys should go into trying to hit moonshots in about the next half inning.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Man he is so much better at home. Somebody hit him on the head so he thinks we're playing at the cell. How about someone just hits him in the head. You cant hit all year long, then someone teaches you something, and you hit like an allstar. Then of course you forget it. What is he Kelly Bundy, a new thought pushes the old thought out.
  9. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) been a bunch of games when we could have used an extra run here or there, but we got nuthin from the bottom of the lineup. Chris Singleton could come out of the booth and give us more than Anderson -- and it would improve the radio broadcasts, too. So by your vim and vigor to get rid of Anderson, you also want to get rid of Uribe,. Because Uribe is a vet, and isnt hitting much better than Anderson.
  10. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) Everybody gets a day off except Thome, Konerko, Crede, and Uribe. Let's go back to the Sesame Street days and decide who doesn't belong? OOOOGGGG BLAAAAHHHH
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) A cubby fan told me it's hairston? Boers and Bernstein called Jerry Hairston, who said he knew why they called him, but he couldnt talk now.
  12. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Gio's numbers are better than Haigwood's at Double A. I always look at hits and Ks per innings pitched in the minors, more than wins or ERA. Gio has thrown nearly 60 innings with only 39 hits and 69 Ks. That's damn good. Needs to improve control with 27 walks. Haigwood not as good, especially considering he's older. In 51 innings, 49 hits and 54 Ks, but 31 walks. I'll say this: Arizona and Philly scouted our system pretty well. Nobody asked for Anderson. A few years ago, Jeremey Reed tore up AA, and AAA. When he was traded, people were livid, because he was the next big thing. He has hit for s*** in the majors. Prospects are Prospects until they do it in the show day in and day out. Gio could be the next big thing, then again he could be a left handed Felix Diaz. Chris Young could be the next big thing, then again he could turn into Joe Borchard. I like Jim Thome and Javier Vazquez this year over the bulk of prospects we gave up. We are trying to win a world series this year, not become the Minnesota Twins.
  13. How about this. Uribe needs to pick it up. He is the vet, he is the one who has had success before. If he was hitting then we are not talking about Brian Anderson's BA. The tasmanian devil needs his leg kick back, and all is good. Then we can afford Brian to learn on the job. We need a right handed setup guy in the bullpen more to replace Polittes production more than we need someone for Brian. Our pen is more of a worry than our O right now. Cotts, Thornton and Jenks are what I trust out of the pen. Bmac needs to get more consistant. He has great great stuff. Politte needs to figure it out. Jabronis little friend Nelson is a ROOGY. Which is fine. But he is not a right handed setup guy anymore.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Fields has a superior approach at the plate and despite his High K totals has a good eye. I have no doubt Fields would come up here and hit (especially if he gets a little more seasoning in AAA) and he wouldn't even be the problem in left (he is good enough of an athlete to handle it if he was able to play a few months in AAA to adjust). Its Pods playing CF that would be scary. I think Fields will have a nice high ceiling. However he needs more seasoning in AAA. If we do decide to move him to LF we will need to have him play there a bit so he can get used to the position. We just cant dump him over there for a few games, then run him up here to play defense in a packed house for a pennant race. Its not fair to him or his development. I still think the next move up should be sweeney. Fields is a 07 target.
  15. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) His long causes him a lot of problems and especially when pitchers throw him breaking pitches on the outside corner and Josh gets into a pull happy mode if he uses right field he will be a special hitter. He does have power to all parts of the park (If you can hit a 425 ft shot to the opposite field in August at the Met then he can in any park). Shocking that one of our prospects would be pull happy. Well how most pitchers have approached our right handed hitters over the last few years is to target low and away. Then nibble away with breaking stuff, maybe dump on into the other batters box to see how anxious our hitters are. If he is pull happy, then he will get owned pretty quickly on this team. He will need some time in AAA to work on going the other way a bit more.
  16. QUOTE(Thunderin @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) I think the .329 average. the 9HRs, the 29RBI's, the .598 slugging %, the 1.021 OB% and the 98TB will translate alot better to the majors than Anderson's numbers. Brian hit .295 in AAA last year with a .469SLG% and a .829 OPS over the course of an entire season. He struck out at a lower rate than Fields with a 25% rate of King last year. So he almost hit 300, he had a good slugging percentage, he k'd less than fields will this year. And look at him now, overmatched. Yet you think that Fields coming up will solve all, why again. Fields will come up, and will be overmatched.
  17. On another note, Ryan Sweeney only has 24ks in 135Abs. Or 17% of the time. His swing probably projects more as being not overmatched like the long looping swings that we have brought up before. But then again, he is another left handed bat and we are trying to get more right handed in our lineup.
  18. QUOTE(Thunderin @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) All I can say is Kenny is thinking about doing it. And he knows alot more about baseball than any of us. I was (and still am) a big supporter of Brian Anderson at the beginnning of the season, but I am just tired of watching him either swing and balls in the dirt and strike out or hit the first pitch and its an easy, weak two-chopper to the infield. Something is wrong with the guys swing/mecanics, so let him go to the minors and figure it out. Fields strikes out 31% of the time he goes to the dish. 52ks already. How is that going to translate to the majors.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 31, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) He's striking out in 33% of his at-bats in AAA. Anderson, the player you're dying to get rid of struck out at a rate of only about 25% of his at-bats. Big league pitchers will exploit Fields hole-filled swing even more than Anderson's. A better question is, why does all of our hitting prospects come up with long and looping swings. The first hitter to break the long and looping swing streak will be Sweeney when he comes up.
  20. This is based on the comps that the appraiser used to define your value. Maybe the appraiser can list the comps he used to appraise the condo and see if they are a true representation of your market value. If you can find condos in the same complex that went for about that price you are okay. But if everything in that complex is lower then you will have a problem.
  21. Well the big key to hit CC is to try and lay off that sweeping slider that breaks down and in to righties. If they can do that, and make him throw strikes they will have a good chance to get to him. Mark needs to keep his momentum going and have a good start tomorrow.
  22. Even when you know that they are getting close to the end of life its still hard. I am sorry for your loss.
  23. Into the 9th in Detroit. 4-0 Yanks. Time for Rivera.
