  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) He was awesome in Sandlot!!!!!! I forsee him getting some action tonight, cant wait to see him break off a Curve on someone. I just get a kick out of when he hits 99, then 99 and then once again 99, then breaks off a sick curve. After we picked up this guy from the Angels in the offseason, I was curious if he would ever regain that velocity. Boy has he ever.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) im in dude. Welcome aboard. Jenks Rocks
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) All Signs point to yes!!! Join the club
  4. I think they are going to use him a bit more. But they will probably ease him into more late game situations. As long as he can keep his control in check we are witness to a nice power arm that can help us in the stretch and hopefully in the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) We will not see Frank again this year... maybe not again in a White Sox uniform, ever. I'm happy that if it had to happen, it happened before the trade deadline. This sucks for Frank and for the Whitesox. Hopefully its not as bad as it seems. He was an intimidator in the lineup and as a PH.
  6. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) I'm not sure which colour you'd want to go with so I posted them all. Avatar Sigs I hope you like one of them. To the rest of you, the background works when viewed on Borderline grey skin WOW is all I can say. This looks awsome. Thanks for this DePloderer., you are the man.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I hate playing for the best team in baseball to. :fyou Burnett we don't need you either Yeah and last year it was Freddy Garcia will be a Yankee. He wants to pitch in New Yawk. Dont believe Boston Gammons, he speaks with forked tounge.
  8. QUOTE(whitesox89 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Gammons is on ESPNEWS He is probably getting ready to sing, CHOWDA CHOWDA THE RED SAWX ARE DA BEST. Besides that I dont expect anything of substance from him.
  9. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) well from what i can see, if we get burnett, either JC/duke will be moved to the bullpen. Try one of those guys as setup/closer type How about trying someone at closer that shops at the big and tall store that is already on the team, JENKS!!!!!!. JC will probably be moved to the pen, filthy stuff and imagine facing him for one or two innings only. He could be unhittable. It however makes more sense to move El Duque in the pen so we can save his arm for the playoffs.
  10. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) lol at the Marlins board liking Marte. I hope they like walks to left-handed batters. The marlins board was saying the same thing about Billy Koch last year, like he was this golden nugget they were going to turn around instead of a rotten turd of a pitcher he was.
  11. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) If Lowell is our 1B in 2006, then this franchise is in trouble, I'm for keeping Paulie since there is no better option of us, via trade or free agent. Is it in the same trouble as when we got rid of Maggs and Carlos Lee.
  12. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) So Lowell is insurance this year and our new 1B for 2006?
  13. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) If we do aqcuire Mike Lowell. Does this mean KW's patience have ran out for Joe Crede? He is starting to heat up offensively and I don't think there is a better defensive 3B. Hmm.. Lowell just seems like a downgrade to me. what do you guys think? Nope that just means that Kong is playing his last games in our uni this year.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Add me to the Jenksy club!!!!!!!!!!!!! Done.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I f***ing love Neal Cotts. I know, I was very s***ty towards him earlier but he proved my ass wrong. He shut my ass up! I luuuuuuv Neal! My only problem with any bullpen guy is when they get super wild and walk the world. Cotts has really turned it around this year. He went from the second coming of Rick Ankiel to being a pretty cool guy to bring out of the pen late in games. Marte on the other hand has regressed.
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) I understand that, but my point is that acquiring Burnett would probably have a better effect than acquiring Wagner. You cannot compare the two, they both exist in different parts of the pitching world, but I think that Burnett would have the desired effect that the White Sox are looking for. I also think Jenks is going to become a pitcher to be counted on in the coming months. Jenks outings lately and his stuff and the emergence of Neal Cotts probably has made Marte a goner. Lefty/Righty matchups aside 100mph heat and a knee buckling curve are equally hard to hit. And sad to say, Neal has much better control than Marte right now. I never thought in a million years that I would ever say that.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Some of you better hope we don't play them in the playoffs.. I am more worried about the A's winning the wild card.
  18. Stupidest comment in that article is that we would even consider trading Contreras to the Bosox. Nothing like sending a power arm to the team you will most likley have to beat in the playoffs. Do these reporters even think at times.
  19. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) "They try to get a lead and they try to get their starting pitcher to go (deep into the game),'' Millar continued. Um...what team doesn't try to get a f***ing lead and have their starter go deep into the game to save their bullpen? And remember...it doesn't take the highest payroll in baseball to win a World Series...just the 2nd highest. He and the rest of the BoSox groupies can go blow. To think they made a movie about these losers and we actually felt bad for these jags last fall. They are just as bad as the Yanks. I hope we sweep their asses in the playoffs. I can see the headlines The lowely Whitesox fall the giants of the great Chowda bay.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Everything I hear is that Burnett wants to go somewhere that isn't Chicago. f*** him. The East Coast Chowda and Yank network doesnt think that anyone wants to come here. Last year all we heard is how Garcia was going to be a Yank or a RedSox. Then whammo he is a whitesox. And then he would test FA. Whammo he signs a deal. Money talks more than wants. Every prospective FA talks about how he wants to go here and there. Its called playing your hand. AJ will be on the southside. Conteras will be in our pen providing yet another power arm. Think of how many strike out guys we will have in our pen. Marte can take his high flying act to the Marlins. And the Bosox can kiss my ass.
  21. According to the Eastern Sports Chowda Network ESPN. Matt (Boston,MA): Where will A.J Burnett be pitching next week? SportsNation Buster Olney: (11:22 AM ET ) Matt: If I had to guess, I would say the Red Sox; I think that's where Burnett wants to go, from what I hear, and he's got some power to steer this thing because he's a free agent at the end of the year. But if Kenny Williams absolutely decides to go for it, even overpaying, that's how he'll wind up in Chicago. But again, this is such a fluid situation, I wouldn't bet my house on any particular team; Boston is the educated guess, today.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) And Hawk was slamming Marte yesterday. Maybe its my imagination, but Hawk never slams Marte, could he be preparing fans for his departure? One thing I can't understand about Marte is he has had a lingering arm problem this year. He comes off the DL and in almost every game since he has made an appearance or at least warmed up. I think there may have been 1 or 2 games tops where this wasn't the case. I would think they would be more catious with him. Marte's problems are not the lingering arm problems. Its his mechanics. He had the same exact problem last year. He short arms the fastball rushing the delivery too much and the ball sails. This is why he broke Chavez's hand last year. Its why he doesnt feel comfortable going against lefties and gets deep into counts. When he follows through on his fastball its a crisp 94-95mph with movement in on righties away from lefties. When he short arms it, it sails into lefties and high and away. Its a Rick Ankiel type pitch. If you watch his meatballs, its always when he slows down his delivery a bit, and takes it down to 91 without any movement. He aims it at that point. But I agree when Hawk starts to do a number on someone, HE GONE!!!!!
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Funny how quickly that will change when Kenny starts throwing around millions upon millions of dollars. Everyone also forgot when they talked to Ozzie about it. How he complemented AJ and said he was like family and he is a great pitcher and they are good friends. The last time we had this type of talk was last year when Garcia signed with us. Guillen again might be a bargaining chip here. Money is great, but for pennies on the dollar is AJ going to go somewhere where the manager is a dick and the team might not be in contention. Or does he sign here for a few pennies less, play for Ozzie a guy he knows, plays for a competitive team year in and year out. Methinks that he will be traded here and will sign here.
  24. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) The difference between Jose and Lugo is that lugo is actually able to make contact with the ball on a consistant basis, get on base at a decent rate, and doesn't strike out near as much... But other then all that he's just like Jose Valentin... Yes his defense leaves something to be desired but at least he won't be burdening us in 2 years with declining numbers... I am sure the pitchers wont flinch when the ball is hit to short also. I am probably one of the biggest proponents of upping the offense. But Vizquel at least plays good defense with a consistant bat. Lugo would be kicking the ball all over the place giving teams like the bosox a few extra outs. NO THANKS
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Did you here the latest rumor? There's a chance if Phil Nevin accepts the trade to Baltimore that the Orioles release Corky. The first person that suggests we pick him up, and someone will, should be stoned like as in biblical style.
