  1. We have seen some interesting defensive plays. LeCroy tagging Santana. Now we have Arthur Rhodes stepping on the bag, while the 1st baseman is facing the other way. Oh and by the way, he has the ball.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) His wildness really cost us in the bad 6th inning. Without the wild pitch and walk, Cora's unlikely to have that smart hit. A good reliever has got to have solid control. He gets behind the count on just about everyone. He walks people left and right. He has a sneaky fastball that will get people who arent smart enough to take a pitch. This is all formulas for success in the majors. Send him down so he can either learn how to throw strikes.
  3. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Another f***ing walk. :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead What else is new.
  4. I am glad that neal is growing up and settling into the majors into year 3. No he is pretty much the same crap he was last year. The only member left of the craptacular trio from last year(thriller, kock and he)
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Thanks to Thriller. I wouldnt go so far to blame thriller for Cotts collapses last year. Thats a stretch.
  6. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Gets another k and out of the inning. Maybe Neal was just cold from sitting in the pen? He was freezing last year then. Mike Jackson must of been in the arctic.
  7. Why is this such a shock with Cotts. Last year it was him and Jackson who would come in and and give up the ship. This wildness thing is now into another year and he still hasnt figured out how to throw a strike. His routine is getting old now.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Dear Mr. Cotts, Please bridge us to the 6th inning scoreless. That would be a huge life if you get out of this inning without giving up a run. This wild thing routine with Neal need to be over. He either walks people or he does this. Look before you throw Neal. Or get the goggles that Vaugn had.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I really would like to see Crede try a new load mechanism for his entire swing. He just doesn't get the bat through the zone quick enough on a consistent basis. A new timing mechanism, like what guys like Sosa have, could work to speed up his swing. The sad thing is, this is a new load mechanism this year. Its just a poor one. Last year his swing has a big hitch in it. If someone was stupid and threw him a curve that dropped down and in, he murdered it. But fastballs he would drop down a bit and undercut it. This year his bat is a bit faster. But now he is introducing another delay in his swing with the bat resting on his shoulder. I figure its a way Walk has of him having proper hitting position before he generates his swing. If you look right before he swings his elbow is up, he looks good. If he just had his hands in the right position without resting his bat, he would be on the ball and hitting all over.
  10. Dear Mr. Crede, Please learn from Mr. Olivo in 2003. Resting your bat on your shoulder only to lift it right before the pitcher starts his motion doesnt help your swing. If your bat is so heavy, please see the equipment manager for a lighter bat.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Vinnie Castilla has a 2b, 3b and hr tonight for the Nats, thru 6 innings. We are into the Indians pen early tonight. Time to expose it for more runs.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Rowand 3-3 tonight. That's just great to see. Maybe he's getting back on track. 2 on 2 out. Arow was making good contact. Just hitting at the wrong people. Finally they are falling. Dye will be fine, we just need to get Crede started. He has some pop in that bat. If he would just have a level swing he would kill the ball all over.
  13. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) What did El Duque do aside from tell fro-boy to calm down?! He probably told him to tell CC to stop wearing his hat cocked like he his a punk, or something like that.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 07:28 AM) Wow, the Tribe is already altering their rotation on the fly to match up with the Sox. Is Wedge really panicing already? The twins will have to face CC and Westbrook this weekend. The more they get buried the better.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Alright Ozzie just f***ed up LET DAMASO FINISH IT This better not hurt us If it does Ozzie I am coming for you Marte pitching against Boone vs Takatsu. I take Shingo hands down. Shingo vs. Hafner Its marte.
  16. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Once Frank comes back, I would split Rowand and Carl at LF with Pods at CF...once in a while I would give Pods a break and let Guch lead off with Uribe 2nd in the line up Especially against tough right handers 7 match ups that he has dominated in the past, I would play Carl instead of Rowand Pods Guch Frank Carl Kong Dye is a sweet top 6 line up with lefties and righties If Jeckle reads this he will have a fit. Thou shalt not mess with Arow getting playing time.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) His new swings looks great Seriously now, has anyone noticed that he now rests his bat on his shoulder and then brings it up as the ball is delivered. Miguel Olivo did that for his first season and it didnt work why would it work for Joe. Take the bat off your shoulder Joe you have enough problem with generating contact without inserting a new and improved hitch in your swing.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) That'a'boy JOE! All that extra time in the cage in the offseason reallly got him ready for this season.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) I'm gonna be honest here... The Sox fan inside me hated watching Santana own us, but the baseball fan inside me loves watching Santana pitch. He sets up hitters beautifully, and I don't care if he was getting an inch or two off the plate, he was awesome tonight. When you can set up a 77 MPH changeup with a 94 MPH fastball, and have no glitch in your throwing motion, you're going to be tough to hit. Tip your cap, go to Cleveland, and beat the s*** out of Millwood. Well at least we got a good look at Millwood and now can beat him silly.
  20. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Bottom 3rd: Minnesota - L. Rivas singled to right - S. Stewart flied out to center, L. Rivas to second - J. Castro singled to right, L. Rivas to third - J. Mauer struck out swinging - M. LeCroy singled to left, L. Rivas scored, J. Castro to second - T. Hunter homered to deep left, M. LeCroy and J. Castro scored - L. Ford flied out to deep right I'll assume you are talking the single to LF. That was a Crede muff? Should he have been able to field it & thrown one of the runners out? Actually it was Uribes play. Crede had laid out trying to make the play and tipped the ball. Uribe would of thrown out LeCroy.
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Still would've been 3-2, in the end. Not exactly the difference maker. You are going on a few assumptions. One that Mark approaches the pitching sequence to Torii the same way. 3-1 with Torii up with two men on. Do you load the bases for the next hitter or do you challenge him. Mark chose to challenge him. Does he make that same pitch if there is no men on base. Probably not. Maybe he does. Who knows.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) No, it wouldn't have. Sweeping the defending champs in their own house and beating their number 1 and 2 pitchers doesnt set a tone. Are you kidding me.
  23. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) 2 of 3 not end of world I understand that we won the series, but man a sweep would of set a tone for the season.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Agree. Why didn't Guillen come out and get in the 3rd base ump's face? Obvious missed call. Stick up for your players Ozzie. Lo and behold ... Hunter doesn't get drilled, so he goes out and steals 2nd and 3rd. Until such time as he gets knocked on his ass, he'll continue to do this s***. Knock him on his ass, and then do it again. If Politte would step off once, or even give the guy a look maybe he would get halfway down the baseline before AJ gets the ball. Our starting pitching has been good, but we need our relievers to pay attention when people are on.
