QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Cubs pitchers blaming the wind on Comcast. Did the wind stop when we were pitching? The funniest one is when Barret said that the sox home runs where all wind aided. But we all know his was due to the extra lifting and skill with the stick :fthecubs -

And for the usual crock, Derrick Lee is the player of the game. I keep forgetting that this is a home game for the flubs. Arow is the man in this game. -

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Damaso looked weak that inning. Like he kind of slacked off and then decided to bear down when he got a couple of guys on base. Jeckle your boy had a hell of a game. 2 dongs. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) While Marte did a little worse last year, I am now realizing how much we take his arm for granted. I mean, he was b****ed out for having a bad year last season, and his ERA was still under four. I'm definitely glad to have #43 in a Sox uni for a couple more years... His arm is fine, its his mechanics that a bit out of whack. Think about it this way, a lot of other pitchers wouldnt of been able to strike out guys after going 3-0 on them. His stuff is filthy, he just needs to get his commander under check again. His problems should be fixed here in spring training. -

Marte has got to get this stikezone thing figured out if he is going to have a better year. I am watching this game and I see the same thing as last year. He doesnt follow through on his fastball and short arms it, the ball sails. He gets behind everyone and gets himself in trouble. The guy has filthy stuff but needs to get it around the plate more. His stuff has kept him out of major problems, but it will catch up with him sooner or later. Come on Damaso, left hand should wind up at the right knee after release buddy. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) rockraines, cotts is an example of why you don't stick young guys into the major league starting rotation before they are ready. Thats not a fair comparison. Cotts was walking people at a good clip at every stage he was at. He doesnt look at the plate(part of his deceptive delivery) until he is about to release it, and he pretty much has only a fastball that he short arms. Use a comparison with someone who has a tad more tools than Cotts. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) crede pops up. Hopefully he gets it together for a season or he is just keeping Fields roster spot warm. BTW Here is the big difference between what we have seen from BMAC so far and what we have seen come up since Buerhle. Bmac goes after hitters, he is a control pitcher who isnt afraid of going in. He doesnt let the count get in the hitters favor and has control around the plate as opposed to other people *cough*cough* Diaz who are afraid of the hitter, throw meatballs near the plate, and have no confidence. Confidence is the biggest difference beween Buerhle and what I have seen so far of BMAC and the rest of the clowns we have brought up over the years. -

QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Going into bottom of the 9th... Arnie Munoz in to pitch. Carlos Quinton walks on four pitches. Man on 1st, no outs. Matt Qaeda walks. 2 on, no outs. Sergio Santos bunts to advance the runners. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Corey Myers intentionally walked. Bases loaded, 1 out. Marlon Williams lines to right center, Quinton scores. Sox lose 4-3. Diaz/Munoz were crap on a stick last year. They need to pitch better this spring or Ozzie will not have any faith in them. Hope the Korean kid signs and he can learn how to throw a strike. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Borchard off to a good start. Did he swing at the 1st pitch? He is using strategies he learned in the winter leagues and is going to apply them for success in the majors. Oh wait the deer cut him. -

Marte needs to have a good spring, or Ozzie will have no faith in him. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) This is total bulls***. Magglio and Boras have been bad mouthing the Sox from the day Magglio signed Boras on as his agent. That piece of s*** Ordonez had no intention of staying here. He can rot in hell for all I care. This years AL Central is going to have a lot of bad blood. The twins vs sox is going to get ugly, the injuns vs sox could get ugly, and with f**glio the tigers vs sox could be a repeat of the fick inspired brawl.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Could be, but would Don Cooper know the pitch? He developed it in the offseason. I believe Shingo went back to japan during this offseason. Cooper IMHO has few missions this spring. Convince all the pitchers to keep the ball down. Get the pitchers to throw inside a bit to offset their offspeed. Keep Contreras from falling in love with his splitter. That is all he has to do.
-
Lets go with the obvious. A pitch that the japanese leagues are famous for. THE SHUTO!!!!!!!! shuto: a variation on the screwball that is popular among Japanese pitchers Japanese to English baseball terms
-
Tee Ball stand takes his 7 ERA road show to the tigers. LOL One born every minute. They also signed 37 year old Mike James. To bad Mike Jackson is retired.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) a little wince in his step I am sure that he will be shooting up anything to keep that leg in check. If anything it will affect the way he plays. Do you see him being real aggressive on the basepaths. Do you see him flying in to make a catch. Sure he will be able to hit. But I think Konkero probably could out-race him now. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Hell ya I'll be going. I think this will be about my 8th year out there. Its a total blast. Not sure when I'm going but it will be within the first three weeks of spring training. I'll end up catching two Sox games and two other games while staying in the Phoenix area. If anyone hasn't been and can go, go, its probably the thing I look forward to most every year. We are staying up in Scottdale. We are going to the Mariners vs. Sox game on Easter sunday. Peoria is a cool stadium to watch a game. I caught the sox against the padres up there last year. Last year was the first year I saw white sox spring training logo stuff up the phoenix area. Hopefully there is more this year.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Not having to watch Harris start this year, this is just epic. Get the snow off the ground, let's play some ball I wonder how Willie is going to steal those 65 bases from the bench. He better have and OBP of like 450.
-
Just remember a few phrases Ozzie should learn for Tadahito when playing the twins. Jodan Mawaski Geri upper roundhouse kick Gedan Tski low punch for Torii And on the really good news pointWe have signed two japanese players and none of them have stared in gay porn like the injuns japanese pitcher.
-
The biggest threat to the sox for years have been themselves. If they can keep consistant and not give up games they should win or get blown away on the west coast they should be fine.
