  1. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Konerko will probably make $10-12mill in the FA market. Thome is from Illinois; he might waive it to play in the same division against the Indians. See if Philly will pay $5 mill a year, I say. Yeah but you could just have Konerko for that much. He's not 36 years of age and also not coming off a season shortened due to shoulder surgury. Too risky.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) As I said in the GM thread in FutureSox... What about Jim Thome? Complete no-trade clause. He's due 15M next season, Philly would have to eat a lot of dough.
  3. Some of you need to come to terms with the fact, like I did, that Pods isn't as valuable as the average major league outfielder. He's the sexy player to have on your team, but he's just not that great. Especially when not running. EDIT: replace running with stealing bases effectively.
  4. Is it just me or does anyone else think Anderson's rookie campaign will be worse than Rowand '05? I'd only deal Rowand if someone was willing to drastically overpay.
  5. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) You really believe this collection of talent we have was worthy of winning 94 games without a good manager? Tough crowd. We won 95 with Jerry Manuel. What's he doing now? Mets mascot or something?
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) It can definitely work in the al but when it revolves around 1 player and the player injures his groin then it definitely can't work anymore. When you have an offense that is poor at hitting, smallball isn't the greatest idea because those kinds of teams can't afford to just give up outs.
  7. So what's Durazo going to go for open-market anyways?
  8. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) You people and your crazy stats. I dunno if I'm the only one, but I cannot AT ALL attach a stat like "W" to a hitter. Look at the simple stats and I say Helton. He's hardly ever injured so I don't think his age will be a big problem. Yes, his contract is big but I think it's one we can afford to bring in. How much more do we really need if we land Helton? Maybe 1 bullpen arm, but that's it. Are you talking about keeping PK too? If you just substitute Helton for PK, this offense still blows. I'm not sure we could afford both.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Now here's the all important argument. What's more important. Dunn's higher OBP and power numbers, or a guy like Helton's higher BA? Currently Dunn is worth one more win per season than Helton. Add that Dunn's 27, Helton's 33 with one of the worst contracts in the league, and the choice is obvious.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I really think Ozzie's gonna jump ship to Florida this off-season, when they fire McKeon (which is pretty much a lock to happen now).
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. What happens if they fool you 5 times? It's the other way around. Plus some poster on this board already bought the rights to fireozzieguillien.com awhile ago. I think it was Antonio Osuna, but I'm not sure. We should get him to fire it up again.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) HOW THE f*** DO YOU DROP TWO TO THE f***ING TIRGERS WITH YOUR PLAYOFF LIVES ON THE LINE? Cause we're the motherf***ing passionless dips*** Sox.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) You bring in Blum after the ph bats. It's quite simple. PWNED

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Cool, I'll check it out. Has the vocalist been through his shearing yet? Probably make a few wool sweaters with that insane mop of hair. Nope! It's really getting out of control...

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) I see where you are going, but from a "technical" stand point, there is nothing "raw" what-so-ever in Coheed's guitars. They might be distorted, but they are polished to an insane degree. Really good band though. That new one is pretty good, eh? Yeah they're not technically raw, I mean raw as in yes, they shred. As for the new album, it's a bit of a departure from the past, but it's a direction they like to go in and I'd put it only slightly under SSTB, which is pretty hard to beat.

Picked up the Cartel and Panic! At the Disco albums today. Both good pop-rock albums, the latter with a lot of synth and piano.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Gonna make a purchase, I need a suggestion. Must be something new, with energy and balls, raw guitars mandatory. coheed and cambria - second stage turbine blade
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Damn man, the headline made me think we got Zarqawi. This is just another one of those guys with 30 people in line to replace him. Yeah I should've put "in Iraq" before "killed". Sorry for that. I also should've spelled Quada correctly. can a mod help me?

  21. Yeah at one board I go to they're called scene points which get added or subtracted when other members give you or take away your points. Then your scene power (how much your vote will influence someone else's scene points) is based on the amount of scene points you have.
