QUOTE(Randar68 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) I'm nit sure how many times I have to call this plan: A ) Stupid B ) Asinine C ) ludicrous before people stop saying it. YOU DON'T BRING UP PRIZED PROSPECTS AND SIT THEM. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CF'ER IS A .750 OPS PLAYER WITH INFERIOR DEFENSE TO THE PROSPECT! Sheesh. Guys, if anyone is going to be the 4th OF'er next year, it's Rowand. Get over it between now and April 1st next year... PLEASE!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) Forgetting for a minute all the travel expenses, office expenses, etc. in running a big operation, what if JR spent 100% of the gate on player salaries, would that make everyone happy? Using $30 as an average, which I believe is generous with discounts, that would be a $70,000,000 payroll. Yes but you've left out revenue from food, parking, souveniers, TV deal, etc...

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) The Jason Grilli? The Matt Ginter? The one and pwnly.

0-3. Chances of that happening, you ask? (1-0.580)^3 = 7%.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) If my math is right, that's a 17.6% attendance increase from the 2004 season. +21.7%

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Come again? Dye sucks in the field? Uh... Uh...Uh... Second worst fielding percentage amongst all qualified OUTFIELDERS in entire MLB. I can think of two games in particular where errors by him in the 9th inning directly resulted in a loss. Not to mention the times he's overrun a ball or shown off his cannon by missing the cutoff man and allowing runners to advance.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) This is exactly how timo gets by. People just remember when he is ''clutch'' and happen to forget when he not so... ''clutch''. His "clutch" rating at THT is second worst among AL right fielders. -4.2.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) Your 9th hitter is a second leadoff hitter. He's not your worst hitter. No, your 9th is your worst hitter. Batting him 9th ensures he will get the fewest AB's over the course of the season.

Yay for sun!

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Oh yeah. In fact it will probably start on time. At least that's what they said in the pregame show.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) Hey Gents. So, what do ya think of our rookie QB today? Reminds me of two years ago at Purdue when he played so poorly that he was removed from the game for Kirsch, then sat on the bench and wept like a girl.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Brown's been hitting in the cleanup spot because KC has no-one else to put there. Dye's hitting at #6. If Dye hits at #4 for KC, how many more RBI would he put up with the likes of DeJesus and Sweeney in front of him? The majority of Brown's AB's come from the #5 spot. Going into tonight's game, Brown had 134 AB's with RISP, Dye had 127 AB's with RISP. Hitting cleanup didn't give him a colossal advantage. Brown had 1 more RBI with 14 less home runs. Probably true. But my argument the whole time is that Brown has been better this year. I'd account for the fact that pitchers don't fear him, but I don't know how. Aunt. Balls. Uncle. I took away Dye's two worst months and he still wasn't a .300 hitter. Take away Brown's one terrible month ( Let me get this straight, you want to remove Dye's worst months, remove Brown's best months, and then compare them? That's fair.

Commence recanting.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) I don't agree with that. Dye has 15 more HR's than Brown. He has a better slugging percentage. He has a better arm than Brown. I don't think Brown's going to put up the same numbers next season as this one though, this is the only time in his career, he's been effective in the major leagues. Brown 2 less RBI with 15 less home runs? wow. Brown has a higher batting average. He has a higher OBP. Brown 88 runs created, Dye 72 runs created. Brown 18 win shares, Dye 15 win shares (that's with Dye's inflated and Brown's deflated.) They both suck in the field. 05 Brown > 05 Dye. Not even taking salary into consideration.
-
Too bad we didn't sign Emil Brown. He's from Chicago, makes less than 1/10 of Dye's salary, and has actually been better than Dye this year.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) I like it. The only thing that scares me about this idea is Duque seems to have Freddy Garcia-syndrome sometimes. He'll give up runs when he first comes in, and then he'll settle down. I don't know if it's because he's not really totally loose and warmed up or because the game isn't close and intense at the beginning. But take this for what it's worth: Pitches 1-15 = 11.93 ERA Pitches 16-30 = 8.82 ERA

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Looking at minorleagueball, he wasn't in their top 20 prospects that were reviewed. Looking at his stats, he's hitting over .300 but has a K/BB ratio of 111/38. I'm guessing if KW's gonna try and get anybody from the D-Backs, it'll be Tracy or Conor Jackson to DH. Maybe he doesn't walk enough. But 111 K's isn't bad for over 500 AB's and a guy who had 250 total bases. And keep in mind this is somebody who could possibly be had for nothing, unlike the other prospects.
-
There's a promising 3B in the DBacks system named Brian Barden. He's currently not protected. Glaus is blocking him, and I don't know if he can play any other infield positions. DH obviously isn't an option in the NL. If he remains absent from their 40-man, I really want KW to try and get him via rule V.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Mad Money is easily the worst show on CNBC. The only person in the neighborhood is Suze Orman. What? It's a great show. I can see why you would think that if you just caught a glimpse of the lighting round while flipping through channels or something. BOOYA JIM
