  1. We had an absolute blast at the game last night. The weather was perfect, the crowd was alive, Mark's performance and have I mention I love Jim Thome? I didn't think that ball was going out. I thought it would maybe clear the wall and that Hunter would bring it back. I didn't understand the point of leaving Santana out there for close to 130 pitches.
  2. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) ESPN made a good point when they said the Yankees have figured out that the best way to beat Santana is to up his pitch count and get into the bullpen. Not that it's a lock by any stretch, but at least you don't face Satan for nine innings. I think you attack and hack early on in the count. If you take and take, you're gonna see a lot of called 3rd strikes. I'd rather go down swinging.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) It's been a long time since I've seen casual fans so pumped about a series. A ton of "summer" Sox fans, as I call them, around the office are walking around all excited cause they are going one of the next 3 days.. I'm not in that group, but I understand the excitement.
  4. Does anyone know how many dog tix were sold for tonight??
  5. 5 hours til blast off, I'm geeked! What should out hitter's approach be at the plate v. Santana? Attack and be agressivbe early in the count? Work the count? Close your eyes, swing and pray that you hit it?
  6. 7 hours til 1st pitch woo-hoo! LET'S GO WHITE SOX CLAP, CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP
  7. I've seen some creative attempts, like the guy who 'helps you' flag down a cab, or opens a door for you. My car broke down once and I was looking under the hood when the neighborhood drunk came up to me and gave me his 'former mechanic professional advice', then asked for a few bucks.
  8. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Whose? Lee's? Lee signed a 5-year, $65 million extension a few weeks ago. I missed that, I didn't think he had resigned yet, thx. I re-read this entire thread and don't see anyone being nasty or making fun of Lee at all. Yes, we make fun of Cub fans, but that's allowed. We didn't get any sympathy from Scrub fans when Maggs and Frank went down in the SAME year, so f*** em.
  9. Ocassionally you'll see people out there with kids, I can't walk away from that.
  10. I guess his contract talks have taken a twist, eh?
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Two thoughts... 1. DLee seems a good bloke, so I do feel badly about his injury. I see no reason to celebrate it. We would have beaten the Cubs soundly in the crosstown series anyway. 2. The more I think about it, the more it might make sense for the Cubs to trade for Ross Gload. Good lefty bat 1B (obviously nothing like Lee good, but he can hit .300), used to play for the Cubs anyway, solid defender at that position, could be had immediately and for relatively cheap. For the Sox, not a huge loss - he hardly plays anyway, and I think his hitting talent is wasted behind PK and Thome. Maybe they could get a pitching prospect out of it. ........and if God forbid Thome or PK go down? No thx, let them figure it out for themselves.
  12. I don't know if you guys come across many of them, but downtown there are a lot of panhandlers. Do you ever give them money? Never? sometimes? always? If sometimes, how do you determine when?
  13. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) I think the entire construction is over-hyped. From Tinley we got to the game in 30 mins, and got home in 25 mins last monday night. It wasnt bad at all. Maybe because so many people have been avoiding it? If more people start to think it's not bad and decide to start using it again, you might see some delays.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 08:02 AM) FWIW, the 8-10 weeks was described as 6 weeks in a cast, then 2-4 weeks to get back into the lineup. But as you mentioned, just being back in the lineup doesn't take into account how his swing will be when he returns. It would be silly to assume that he'd come back mashing right away. This injury definitely damages the Cubs' chances in the NL Central. IF they get any of their injured starters back healthy and throwing well, that could offset the loss of Lee to a certain degree and keep them in the race. Ramirez is going to have to step it up, and Walker's going to have to remain hot for them to muddle through until their best hitter returns. They're f***ed. I feel bad for Lee, but not for Scrub fans. Now we'll have to listen to one more excuse from Scrub fans about why they'll finish 3rd. "Well, if D. Lee hadn't gone down, we woulda ran away with the division and won the NL".
  15. Actually the pitching matchups for the entire series look good.
  16. I'll bet at this game tonight and I'm amped! Special thx to THE WOOD and Steff, for the hook ups. Santana has not been himself so far this year, but he has a way of stepping up against us.
  17. I just saw the replay at regular speed and it didn't look that bad. Sure it was a hard collison, but 2 breaks? WOW I'd have to see the point of contact in slo-mo.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) It's an old Jimmy Buffet song. Ah, no wonder, I'm not a fan.
  19. I hope so, it's still possibly the funniest thing on tv. Remember Borat at Great Expectations dating service: "so, what kinds of things are you looking for in a woman?" Borat: "well, she must be blond, have no family history of retardation and she must have plow experience"
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) How do you do? I see you've met my. . . faithful handyman. Ace ref where was yours from?
  21. Has anyone tried the new Coca Cola Blak? They were giving them away downtown. It's basically Coke with a shot of expresso in it. It tastes like butterscotch candy, but man I was WIRED.
  22. If the rain holds off, tomorrow should be a big draw for walk ups. It's Friday night, Twins v Sox, Johan v. Mark. But as of right now, you can still get a lot of good OF seats.
  23. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) I listened to this as well this morning... It seems Cotts is the only one that is actually upset he had to cut his hair, everyone else apparently doesn't mind. That's cuz Cotts has always kinda had shaggy hair, or at leats he was the 1st one. It only became an issue when the others jumped on board with it.
