  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Rowand's swing is awfully mechanical right now. Every swing is the same, no matter what type of pitch it is. he's lost.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) How does Dye ever get hits with his swing? I know he has 3 homers this season, but he doesn't get a lot of bat speed it seems as he swings all arms. Also, I remember him hitting the ball a lot more to right field in the past. Everthing about the way his body moves looks like he's half-assin' it. At the plate, running the bases and on defense. Just lazy looking.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Getting Silva back so soon might have saved the Twins season. Is someone else injured for the Twins?
  4. Ya know, we're playing pretty well, but 10-6 is not bad either. The Twins are only gonna get better, we will too, but the Twins ain't goin' anywhere.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) No one has mentioned it yet, but Konerko is just as guilty as Lee and Ordonez were in the past of swinging out of his ass with men on base. Konerko has basically become a homer or pop up man. ...but some of us have noticed.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Someone might want to tell Everett that when the pitcher walks 2 straight batters, including one with the bases loaded, you might not want to bail him out by swinging at the first pitch. Huge opportunity wasted there. he's hitting so well, I'd have a hard time getting on the guy with the hot bat, but you're right bad decision. Fat Matt is up.
  7. see, THAT"S when I reach for my revolver.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) "JOO GONNA TAAAA ME? JOO GONNA NEED AN ARMY JOO GONNA TAAA ME!!" LOL. "Geeb her anotha qualoode, chee gonna lub mee in dah morning." "Ayy, c'mon Iwassonlykiddin"
  9. Fricking biters, I've been calling Ozzie 'Scarface' since he got here. Yesterday,. they said the got an email suggesting we call Carl Everett "Dinosaur', hmmmmmm wonder wher they got that idea?
  10. Where exactly are 'standing room' tix for a Bull's game? Where in the stadium is it?
  11. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) I agree about curbing the smoking around kids, but the funny thing is, the earliest baseball memory I have is seeing the light standards of Comiskey Park as I walked toward the park and smelling some old dude's cigar smoke. Cherry. It smelled good to me, even as a 6-year-old. Whenever I smell a cigar I think about that for a second. It makes me smile every time. But I never did take up smoking - go figure.....well, I tried smoking for about 2 weeks in high school, but I didn't like it so I left it at that. I was just gonna say that. Some of us who grew up at the Old Comiskey, remember how things used to be. The fights, the swearing, the smoking. Learned a lot there, a lot of my 'firsts' were there. We've come a long way. Good times.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) HA HA! Hysterical! I don't believe anyone here is talking about 1 pitch. I think those that don't like this act are talking about the consistency of it. It is not just one fan for one pitch, but a growing amount of fans who think this is ok. This makes it go from being 1 pitch missed to 90% of the pitches missed. Thank you for adding your wonderful insight though. It was it green, so take it easy there High Speed. do the math, 1 pitch per fan, 27,000 fans=missed about 8 innings of the game....and your welcome.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) uh huh, very very interesting. This ^ should have been in green. All the Nomar 'roid' talk is speculation at this point. He didn't gel at Boston, so what, that's 1 team, AJ didn't 'gel' in SF and so far it seems like we love him. I'd take a healthy Nomar on the Sox any day.
  14. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) I do believe that smoking is banned in the seats, and only allowed on the concourse. Next time you have a problem with the one guy smoking in front of you, turn around and look on the concourse, and there you will see a rather large group of people smoking. Tell the usher somebody is smoking, and the usher will have the person move out of the seating area. yeah, but then I might miss a pitch.... in a 3 hour, 9 inning game.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) They werent trying to get rid of the cancer in the clubhouse, they were trying to instill hope in their fan base, dont read the tribune so much. I never said the curses are his fault, but it does seem kinda ironic that there was a long drought, they trade him to another contender, then the team gells and pulls of a WS title. The team he goes to, chokes and doesnt make the playoffs. As far as roids go, his tremendous drop-off and his tendon-related injuries. uh huh, very very interesting.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Good point, I cannot read your mind...Guess I was wrong Point is, I think that Maggs was a great player for the sox, produced in ways that we hadnt seen in a long time. But the character flaws are coming into light now. He told ownership not to hire Ozzie-personal attack, he left the city that he said he wanted to stay in for the possibility of more money-greedy, he now says unsolicitied that Ozzie is his enemy and he wouldnt talk to him-personal attack. What do you expect Ozzie to do in that situation, knowing who Ozzie is. He is not Phil Jackson, when he got Ozzie we knew that he was the type of person who responds honestly, and when personally attacked, again, of course he is going to respond. If that makes you feel uncomfortable, then you should write JR and tell him to re-hire Manuel. I think that Ozzie's response was fine, Maggs is acting like a little girl. I do not hate him because he is not on our team, in fact I still Love El Caballo among others, but Maggs is not the person I thought he was, because if he wasnt a whiner, then he wouldnt have said what he said, and he could of taken the high road. That's a very good point about what I should expect from Ozzie because of the way he is.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I disagree, I believe intently that he is a clubhouse cancer. Last year when he was hurt and they were playing the yankees, his whole team was on the top step of the dugout while he was sitting in the corner. 30 days later he was traded, and the rest is history. His new team looked like a favorite to make the playoffs as the WC holder, but when he arrived they nosedived. I firmly believe that he is one of the reasons that the Red Sox never overcame the curse, and I believe that he was a definite steroid user. I dont think he is a good guy at all. WOW, but it seemed like they were trying to get rid of everyone they perceived to be a cancer this off season, even in the press box, why not Nomar? Two curses are his fault too? What makes you think he used roids?
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) I dont need someone else to make me buy into anything. When you whine and cry about your huge contract not being large enough, thats anough for me. Its nice that you are trying to take the high road on the argument, but its already come to light that Maggs is not the person you think he is, otherwise his comments wouldnt be as such. Tell me, what kind of person do I think Magg is? How would I know that? From blips in the paper? I don't think Maggs is squeaky clean in this whole thing, far from it. I remember Maggs turning down the contract offer, I remember him being asked about it and giving an answer. I must have missed the quotes with him whining and b****ing about it while he was with the Sox. And if he did, it's old news, he's gone, why reply when he rehashes it?.....game over, shut it Ozzie.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) If you already knew what the impact was then why did you ask what it had to do with the balls...? Two totally unrelated things. I figured he'd be in pain and might not be able to 'perform'. Even an injury nowhere near that area might casue that to happen. That's different than him having torn something in his 'unit', that would probably lead to E.D.
