QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) I'm happy you received this good news Steff. But, I have to say that the way your original sentence in this thread is worded, it sounds like your girlfriend was the one indicted. Me too, I was thinking : WHAT??!!....How the Ef did that happen? lol.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Here's an idea: Say there's 60 Scout seats (Don't know if that's correct. Work with me here) and on a particular night they have 20 seats full. At the beginning of the game they should upgrade 40 people from "bad" seats to the scout seats as a promotional type thing. It does look bad on TV with the empty seats. Maybe, but it might backfire on them. People who bought the seats probably wouldn't like it too much. It's kind of like, I heard a rumor, that some season ticket holders didn't like the idea of there being so many half price nights. Can't make everyone happy.
-
It just comes to down to what people want to do with their money and what they consider to be 'worth it', that's all. No right or wrong. I will say this though, just because other seats to other events might be more costly, doesn't mean that these particular Sox tix are not over priced. Even if you showed me a $300.00 toaster, I'm still gonna think a $250.00 toaster is overpriced.

There is another thread that says that those seats are available on an individual game basis. I agree that $175.00 is too high. I could buy a box seat, drink and eat myself sick and still not spend that much per person. I don't care if a waitress brings me all my food, drinks and a urinal either. Not worth it, IMO.

My 2 favorite idiot Sox fan stories: Last year, there was a group of 'Sox fans' near the front rows in right field who chanted "Oh-EE-Oh, Faaaaglio" all night long. Nice job, taunting your own player. Another 'Sox fan' was at a Twins game, sitting right behind Twins fans, a guy and his wife and young kid, who was wearing a Hunter jersey, post Burke incident. This guy wasn't saying anything to them directly, but he was talking trash about Minnesota and the team loudly. You could tell the dad was getting steamed and I saw his wife tug at his sleeve a couple of times, like 'don't do it'. Finally I said something to the Sox fan, embarrsed him and he finally shut his dumb mouth. There are far more good Sox fans, we need to do our part to clean house.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) I am so spoiled.. Yep, there were vendors and unlimited sales for every other night, except for Mon. & Tues. nights after a few 'incidents' last year. It made a big difference.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) I don't recall there being any "restrictions" last year. IIRC, in the outfield they didn't have vendors walking up and down the aisles and they limited you to 1 beer per person, per trip at the beer stands out there.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I always took 1/2 price night to be for families and kids. It's not for people over 21 who can most likely afford to go to any game. So a simple solution would be to cut off beer after the 4th on those nights. That's enough for dad to have a couple beers and enjoy the game...and its not enough...(at least I hope) to get all the idiots drunk. Yes people will b****...and some won't come to the game anymore, but those are the fans we don't want there anyway. Does anyone know if the attendance dipped for half price nights last year AFTER the beer sales crackdown?? Just curious if it has a real effect on the attendance number.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) I say it's a surprise choice and he is under 65 years old. they said probably an older guy, so that he is not in for such a long time, but maybe a young guy, who knows.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) the German guy Yeah, either him or the Italian, hopefully the Latin guy though.

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) SECURITY! SECURITY! MORE!!! SECURITY!! I brought a Chicago sports fan with me to opening day. He had a blast. He had so much fun he bought tickets for Monday night's game for him and his family. Well, he called me after the game to celebrate the victory with me. Although he really enjoyed the game, the Sox organization should really take note of his comments. He said he was in section 113. In section 111 there was a fight that somebody's nose got busted and was bleeding everywhere. He said "don't take this wrong, because I'm a Sox fan now too, but I can see why there is a stereotype about drunk violent Sox fans." He realized that fights happen everywhere there is alcohol, he wondered where the hell was securtity and why did it take 5 minutes to get there? He also said that he doesn't think his wife will go again and he probably won't bring his daughter anymore. With all of the problems over the years, to not have tight security during 1/2 price drunk fest is unacceptable. My advice, NO MORE 1/2 price nights unless they are upper deck. Also, MORE SECURITY!!!! I'm bringing my wife to tonight's game tonight. I hope the violent drunks limit themselves to the upper deck. In fact, I love baseball. I'd be happy if they quit selling alcohol all together. Someone please post some e-mail addresses for people in the Sox organization so that I can write them. Sorry about the rant. I know one guy in all of Rockford who I've finally shown that the Sox are a better team. I've conviced him that the negative Sox stuff is Cubune perpetuated crap and now this bulls*** happens.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Not at all. well, there ya have it sports fans. Remember how much it changed last year when they limited beer sales?
-
Let me try this again, lol. Do they have any beer purchasing restrictions in place this year like they did last year on half price nights?
-
I see your point, it ultimately comes down to the individual, like you said. If you can take a little bit of teasing and can have a sense of humor about it, you'll be fine. If you're a hot head with a chip on your shoulder, there's gonna be probs. Also, I think HOW you cheer has a lot to do with it. I cheer FOR the Sox not AGAINST the home team, big diff.
-
I agree you shouldn't be a jerk and provoke others, but not wearing your team's jersey when your team is actually playing?? Even if you don't wear a Sox jersey to say the Metrodome, you're still gonna cheer for the Sox, wouldn't THAT give you away? What's the difference?..... or should we sit quietly at opposing parks too?

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Not too bad. My last drink was that fiver of Jack I took when Crede parked one. I started pounding gatorade right after and I'm glad of it cause we ran 3 miles this morning and there was about a 20 MPH headwind. I damn near died! LOL!!! Ugh, dude I told you, running sux, get a car. -

I have 2: Watching him slam 4 beers and 3 shots in like 15 minutes next to me at a club. Seeing him out with his ex-woman Carmen Electra, wow. -
Do they still have the same beer purchasing restrictions they did last year on Fight Nights?
