  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) What about them...?? Never mind, thx.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Because I know he's been doing more than is being reported and I know that he's not feeling as bad as it's being reported either. I just think they are giving the public the worst case scenerio so it's great if he comes back sooner. How about the quotes from him in that article? "This is excrutiating........"
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) I think he'll be back.. I think they are being overly cautious. why do you think that?

    The Vic..

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) The Riviera is a cool venue, too! Best show I saw there? Damn, that's a tough call. My top three would be: Replacements - very drunk, very cool, tons of fun! Public Image Ltd. - I was able to get about 20 feet away from John Lydon, who was one of my earliest rock idols. Dinosaur Jr. - The LOUDEST drums I've ever heard! We were halfway up the balcony and the snare drum sounded like an M-80! BANG! BANG! BANG! Plus, I love J Mascis' squealing guitar solos - I'm happy they're reforming, but bummed that the only place so far to see them is Lollapalooza, which I won't be attending. I like club shows, I hate festivals. Holy s***, another Dinosaur JR fan!! I saw them just before they broke up at Metro and I have tix to Lolla 05 !! I'm the same way, I hate big stadium shows, but I couldn't pass up 2 days of Lolla for $35.00. Speaking of loud drums, I saw The Secret Machines a couple of months ago at Metro. Thier drummer is sick.

    The Vic..

Since we're talking about venues in the area. I like Metro, the Vic and the Riviera, in that order. I HATE the Aragon, Kid G, maybe you can tell me why the sound is so awful there. It's just one big, flat echo. It's too bad, beacuse a lot of bands I like play there, but I refuse to go there. All the oudoor venues suck too. Tinley and Alpine have average sound and horrible sight lines. psst, two secret places Bottom Longue and Empty Bottle:headbang
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) This is premature but IF he doesn't come back this year, it helps the chances of him returning because the market for him would be weak. I really do think he'll make it back by mid-year though. What makes you think he'll be back this year?
  7. I hate to think this way, but any chance it's career threatening? If he's out all year, how would it affect his contract negotiations?
  8. So, is he out til the Tigers series?

    The Vic..

That place is very cool, even the downstairs main floor, standing room is better than most places. The floor has a few levels so it keeps getting higher and higher towards the back, so everyone is on a slant. It makes it easier to see over people's heads from the back. Most places have one flat floor and even though I'm tall, I still have hard time seeing the stage.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) I went to Cancun once. I was on the tarmac at the airport on a HOT HOT day. Got on the tourist bus to go to the resort. They had a cooler full of Dos Equis on ice. I've been a fan of Dos Equis ever since. That one particular beer was one of the best beers I've ever had. It's funny you say that, the 1st time I went to Mexico, I was also in Cancun. I was expecting Corona to be like on tap in people's homes. Actually, it was kinda hard to find and expensive when we found it. Dos Equis was everywhere though. I think Sol and Corona are pretty much the same beer.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) I finally saw "Road to Perdition" this weekend. Yeah it was hard hitting and emotional, but I don't get what all of the hype was about. I agree, most over rated film in a while. Didn't it win some awards too??
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) This happens a lot in life. I know there are a few people I've lost touch with under strained circumstances, and I know I'd regret it if they weren't around anymore. But yet I don't reach out to mend the relationship either, so there you are. Yeah, my best man at my wedding and 'best friend' moved out of town recently. He'd been slowly distancing himself from me for a while. All his e-mails were short, factual and cold. He left no other information. All relationships have to be 2 sided, othewise they won't work.
  13. I saw 'The Interpreter' this weekend, not bad, maybe a liiiiittle overhyped. Very solid performance by Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn was great as usual, even a somewhat supporting role. Anyone else see this yet?
  14. This will be an interesting series. I'm glad we swept KC, but they looked even worse than their record and while we won, we didn't exactly look sharp.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Yes, like Negra Modelo. Also like Modelo Especial, the non dark beer they produce. For Mexican beer, try Bohemia. It's in a brown bottle, and it's a Mexican ale, one of the few if not only Mexican ales out there. Fantastic taste ... IMO much better than Tecate and way better than Corona. I enjoy Bohemia, it's quality.
  16. MMM beer Gimme a not too cold Tecate, in a can, with a small wedge of lime any day...keep the salt. or a Guinness or a Grolsch or a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or a Leinenkugel Red IMO Blue Moon is a trendy, overrated, overpriced beer, tastes just like a Corona with lime. Anyone like Elephant or Negra Modelo?
  17. QUOTE(Be Good @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) Every team slumps. It's impossible not to when your playing 162 games. If the Sox win the division most Sox fans will love him. I never said this team will win every series and not slump. I'm not saying the guy should be fired, you're right I'd be ecstatic if we make the playoffs, but he needs to have a sit down with KW and JR.
  18. QUOTE(Be Good @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) No, he speaks his mind and I love it. You have to love it, results speak for itself. If it continues every Sox fan will love it. This, to me, implies that you have to love him speaking his mind since the team is winning. In other wordds, the team winning is partly because he speaks his mind. I disagree. By your logic, when the team begins to lose, it also has to be because he is speaking his mind. Him running his mouth has nothing to do with wins or losses, he just needs to shut his dumb mouth and represent his team and the city in a more professional manner. I know this is sports, but remember that this is aslo his JOB. If I ran my mouth at my job that way, I would expect to be pulled into an office for a converstaion.
  19. QUOTE(Be Good @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) No, he speaks his mind and I love it. You have to love it, results speak for itself. If it continues every Sox fan will love it. I'll remember that if or when the team slumps......and most teams will slump.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) While I do like fire in a manager, there's another thing called class. If you want to say Magglio deserved it, fine. But Guillen is going over the line. I don't care if he said Buerhle is been much better than Wood and Prior. That's fine, they have never played for the Sox. His hatchet job on Frank again was total BS. Talk about getting over something, how many times do we have to hear pitchers didn't like throwing to Olivo. Ozzie popping off about that again a year after the guy was traded, unprovoked, was total BS. Everybody knew he was talking about Lee when he made the comment about a guy going into 2B like his wife was turning the DP. He also said that is why the player isn't here right now. The fact is the media is now going to try and bait Ozzie into another diatribe. There are a lot of things Ozzie has said and done that the media has actually turned its collective head on. A major embarrassment for the organization is just waiting to happen. My advice to him would be at press conferences to talk about the game, and always protect your players. Try to keep your mouth shut about other things and remember he is representing the White Sox organization every time he's in front of a microphone. very well put, someone shoot this ^ right over to KW. You and I are in the minority, everyone loves his shoot from the hip honesty.
  21. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) The white sox game was the 1st baseball story on sportscenter tonight. That should please some of you. ...and that's really how it should be. The Sox aren't the only team to get punked by ESPN. We just notice it more beacuse we're Sox fans.
