QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) South Korean pitcher Sang Ho Moon, 23, pitches as Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper, left, and General Manager Ken Williams watch, during a free agent tryout at the Chicago White Sox spring training facility in Tucson, Ariz., Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Moon reportedly played professional ball in Korea in 1999 and 2000, and is returning to baseball after a manditory four-year military service obligation. Now THIS photo should be in the 'add a caption' thread.

Everett article on Chicagosports.com
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) I don't see anything wrong with the quotes in that article.... In fairness, we don't know what was asked, or how it was asked, but no one except Carl brought up him having to prove something to the media. Where'd that come from?? Kinda defensive, no?

Anyone still follow Miguel Olivo? I know he got hurt last year and that's all I heard. Did he return to play? What's his deal for '05?

Everett article on Chicagosports.com
I hope Carl has a big year too, we need it. Is it just me, or does he seem to be getting testy with the media again? Last week he said he was glad Bonds made the media look stupid and now this little jab. C'mon Carl, be above it.

QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) I actually just finished Conseco's book and he said that not all guys use steroids to bulk up like him, they use them to quicken the healing process or for stamina so they can last the long season. I don't know what to believe about ANY player after reading that book. It would be nice to believe that no one on the Sox is juicing or has juiced, but it probably is not true. Well, it's up to us as fans to believe whatever we choose.

I found a great site for the second one. http://www.saw2.com/ The message boards are creepy.. LOL That's my Halloween costume for '05, the mask the suit, the red ribbon-bow tie.....now I just need a big, old rusty tricycle.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Somebody said Paulie was? His name sometimes comes up when people speculate about Sox players on juice. He has some kind of mysterious hip injury that supposedly has required some 'help'.

Oz vs. our boy
QUOTE(marsh @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) I don't mind this Ozzie stuff at all. It focuses all the attention on him and away from the players. It puts Ozzie in the spotlight and lets the players go about their business. Good point. Either that, or the team lacks a story.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Yeah, he make Paul look like a twerp. I will say this, I saw Paul the day tickets went on sale, and I'm quite bigger than him, so he's not that big. I'm also 6'2" 270. That's why, no matter what you read on this board, I refuse to believe that Paulie is juicing.

Konerko Showing Real Class
All we should ask for as fans is that a guy give 100% and not be a jerk in public. I'm not as warm and fuzzie about this article as others. He's happy, if he wasn't, he might be behaving differently, just like if some former Sox players had been happy, they might have behaved differently too.

Leftists take office in Uruguay
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/200...quez050301.html I wonder why it took so long to announce this if the election happened on Halloween? Often times these elections are corrupt and recounts are neccesary.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) That pic is ridiculous, paulys a big guy and canseco is huge next to him. I heard the pics in his book are absolutely nuts I remember in a game against the Indians, Canseco walked and was standing on 1st next to Jim Tohme and absolutely dwarfed him, it was crazy.

Update from ST
QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) on comcast sportsnite they did a little update about the soxs day on monday... whille harris had the following to say after they showed a clip of him laying down the "perfect bunt" :: "thats what im tryin to do, is get on base early for the big bats. get on early so they dont have to wait for me to steal a base" what the f***? whille, really... whats wrong with you? borchard did really well at the plate... he hit a home run and a single of el duque. garland pitched well, said he felt very confidant and comfortable up there... he out did arron rowand in a 12 pitch at bat. That's a wierd statement from Harris. What did he mean?

Oz vs. our boy
http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay011.html It would be nice to see Oz be above it all and not respond, but somehow I don't see that happening. This is gonna be a good one, grab some popcorn.

Oscar Thread...
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) wow, you are so right... thank you for helping me understand I didn't have a problem with the message of the film. I had a problem with the hopelessness that Maggie's character was placed. She had the backing of the WBA plus god knows how much $ from a law suit that in real life would have happened...but all she got was a mediocre hospital that failed to check for bed sores leading to an amputation and poor security which led to her death. I didn't have a problem believing that she could actually get to the title fight, which was nearly impossible...I had a problem with the lack of realism in order to force the characters into a horrible decision, which if were made by actual living and breathing people wouldn't have had the same outcome. I REALLY enjoyed acts 1 and 2 of this movie. I did not like the contrived and manipulative ending. but what the hell do I know?? I voted for bush...and hate homos :headshake Enjoy the movies.

Oscar Thread...
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) which furthers my belief that I'm alot smarter than most critics, reporters, and audience members. and this idea of "suspending disbelief" is a terrible defense of clear plot flaws and inconsistency in the characters. Million Dollar Baby was the Britney Spears of movies this year. It's not a defense, it's a basic premise in movie making. It's fiction, fantasy, make believe. They have a category for REAL films, they're called documentaries. Many 'flaws' are there, EVERY movie has them. Ask a Dr. how many inaccuracies there are in films with medical situations, tons. Ask a cop or judge about crime movies. How about 'action movies'?.....their entire premise is ridiculous. Cowboy cops blowing things up left and right. How many times a year does the President get kidnapped in movies? How about sports movies?......Rocky took a beating in that film that would never have been allowed in the sport, it won an Oscar. Your problem with characters not behaving the way you think they would have is just that....the way YOU think they would have. Films in which they don't behave that way are far more interesting than when you can see their reaction coming from a mile away. They're called plot twists. You had a problem with the film's message. That doesn't make it a bad film.
