White Sox at Rangers, 7:05, CSN
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to iamshack's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 24, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) He's having like one good game every week and a half, just enough to make Ozzie think he can still be the guy he was in Miami circa 2003 To be fair he does have a 9 game hitting streak. Not that I wouldnt take Viciedo in a heartbeat over him though. -

Bunt to stay out of the DP and what happens? the great Pierre can't hit a fly ball deep enough to get the runner home from 3rd DP. -

I know everybody rightfully calls Hawk a homer but some times if you pay attention he says things without saying things. He he just now described how hard all the TX hitters were smoking the ball this inning. Could he actually be saying Pena sucks or Ozzie sucks in so many words for bringing ( holy smokes a DUnn HR !!!!) in Pena to use against righties who have hit Pena much harder than lefties? -

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to DOWNTOWN PANTHER's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not expecting anything from Dunn. I'm expecting Viciedo to be called up so we can have a damn bat in the lineup who can smash lefties and play some left field. I am not expecting my expectations to be met however. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) I'm going to make an educated guess that the author of that ESPN/Chicago article has never once in his life seen Dayan Viciedo swing a baseball bat. Is Viciedo going to have the same impact as Dunn on the back of his baseball card? Obviously doubtful, but just to discount the possible contributions of a minor leaguer that you've probably never seen...well, it just goes to show you that anyone can have an opinion these days. Based on what I saw of Dayan last year I can absolutely 100% guarantee that he would have put the ball in play more against lefties than Dunn and 99.75% sure he would have better offensive numbers in just about any category you choose.

Why not? The official "Alex Rios Sucks" Thread
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I remain optimistic based on the way the pitching has been lately. Sure I think Pierre at the top of the lineup is bad. I look at Rios and Beckham and their funky batting stances and grimace when they suck. I look at Josh Hamilton and see the kind of batting stance I love, relaxed ,just the right amount away from the plate. I want Dunn to wake up . I couldn't have imagined he'd be this bad overall and Kotsay bad against lefties.I think some minor tweaks would help a lot but unfortunately I doubt they will happen, such as Pierre leading off until Ozzie is fired then you have to fire Ozzie. Sitting Dunn against lefties and calling up Viciedo, who mashes lefties. But God forbid we bench our big free agent signing. Since we are pretty far behind at this point I think these changes need to made sooner rather than later and that won't happen. Have I given up on the season because of that ? Not really but sheesh Reinsdorf needs to let Kenny do what has to be done . -

Beckham go into a Pete Rose crouch or do something different to lay off those high pitches. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 17, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) These guys are pissing me off. Alexei pulls it into a Dp now Rios . As sucky as Beckham has been at least he tries to hit it to the right side. And to add to that, If Rios is going to stand so far away from the plate you'd think he likes to hit to right but noooo, he pulls everything. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) BTW, Dunn is now 0-23 vs lefties this year. Come on Yanks, blow us away with an offer for Dunn and Danks! Shades of Mark Kotsay -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:48 AM) You mean Humber's .213 BABIP is unsustainable? You've got a lot of nerve! His current rate stats are totally flukish and his below average 5.18 K/9 doesn't do anything to mask that. Smoke and mirrors for the most part. As the weather heats up and he starts seeing better offenses, reality will set in. Not that he possibly couldn't be serviceable all year. But trading guys because we have Humber? lol. I'm giving Humber the benefit of the doubt . What point is there in predicting failure especially based on K/9 ? Yes I know when you look at Hall of Fame and very good pitchers in general that they have excellent stuff so they avg close to a K per inning. That doesn't mean you can't have success pitching to contact. There are so many pitchers who grew up with such good stuff overpowering hitters all their life but struggled against majorleaguers . When the lightbulb goes on and they finally figure out that location and keeping hitters off balance mean just as much if not more than great stuff then they become pitchers.

A pitcher is always better who pitches just good enough to win instead of just bad enough to lose. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Best case scenerio is 1 win in this 4 game set. NOOOO best case scenario is 4 out of 4. 0 out of 4 is worst case . 1 and 2 ... well you get the picture.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Not against 98 mph fastballs. We had a similar discussion last year when he faced Feliz. Sure he could if he got the right pitch but they pitched him away so it wasn't likely. He took the walk. And we had to pin our hopes on Pierre. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Not to left field, which is where Omar and Pierre would have likely hit it to. Wells was playing as shallow as Tampa was vs Pierre. Wells has a great arm for a LF. I had more faith in Vizquel , the RF was shading him to center and I've seen Viz pull it to RF many times. -

I wanted Teahen to pinch hit but nooo God forbid Oz ever PH for Pierre . Hell as shallow as they play him not sure even with 2 outs if the tying run scores from 2nd on a hit.
