  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) Antonio Osuna. Very good !
  2. I think it would be cool to find the numbers on the back of current or former Sox players.
  3. I'll take the silver slugger , range rover and cuban missile ,Alexei.
  4. RIP Chuck. He loved him some Dick Allen. I shall wear my red Sox cap in your memory.
  5. QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) I hope that Morel can really excite some people and have a solid rookie campaign kinda like Beckham did. I actually have a gut feeling that Morel is going to be just fine, play good Defense and hit at something like a .260/.330/.410 clip. Its the white sox highly touted prospects that never work out and always disappoint, but this mid level expectation prospect may actually work out. I agree and think Morel has a chance at ROY.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Did he? I'm not saying your wrong. I just don't recall. I remember the Nationals being brought up. But I remember it being a minor league deal being possibly offered. Just read the article in the main post. It says he had a few.
  7. He had major league offers last year, probably more than one. His own fault he is being forced into retirement.
  8. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Wow, I knew he came up early but I forgot he's only 25. This could be a great signing. Also, when it was previously mentioned on this board, I didn't think a $500k mL deal was a possibility. At that price, how could you say no?? I brought it up earlier but I'll be damned if I can find it without search.
  9. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) It should be noted that Phil Rogers' baseball genius was on display during the very same segment in which Al Leiter referenced Alexei's defense as his biggest need/area for improvement, citing 20+ errors in 2010. Apparently neither of these guys watches Sox games. I saw that too watching top ten SS right now on MLB network.
  10. Love the move. Great for 4th OF and potential replacement for Pierre. Should pinch run, PH against lefties and be defensive replacement for Q just for the ground he covers.
  11. Bartolo and Freddie , what a combo for the Yankees!
  12. I brought it up as soon as I saw him non tendered. The longer he lasts the bigger bargain he becomes. Our bench looks weak and he's a proven legitimate hitter with speed . Only 25 his best years could be ahead of him.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Teahen peaked in 2006 at age 24. He's a below average player. It's critical that Morel comes out and earns the job this spring. I just have a horrible feeling that if Teahen hits .400 in the spring likes most scrub players tend to do he'll get the job regardless and we'll be subject to at least a good month of him starting every day at 3B before Ozzie realizes that he's not good and contemplates a switch. Did Ozzie ever realize Kotsay wasn't good ?
  14. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Haha I thought the whole "by the time I get to Glendale" thing was a play on the song "By the Time I Get to Arizona" which is one of Public Enemy's best songs. Highly recommended if that's your thing. It could be , have to ask the thread starter. I did a little bit of research and Issac Hayes and Harry Belafonte also did versions of "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" . Whoever named the song from Public Enemy could have heard one of those versions of the song in their household growing up.
  15. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) The Public Enemy reference in the title makes me smile a little. So does all the talk about sluts. Are you referring to the line " by the time I get to Glendale" ? If so there's a very old Glen Campbell song called " By the Time I Get to Phoenix" .That's the musical reference to me. Maybe Public Enemy sampled Glen Campbell .
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) Last 5 years 2006: 162 G 58 SB 20 CS 74.3 SB% 2007: 162 G 64 SB 15 CS 81.0 SB% 2008: 119 G 40 SB 12 CS 76.9 SB% 2009: 145 G 30 SB 12 CS 71.4 SB% 2010: 160 G 68 SB 18 CS 79.1 SB% Obviously he was not quite a full time player in 2008/2009 but the bolded of what you say doesn't really appear to be true. He had the most stolen bases of his career last year and stole at one of the higher rates of his career as well. I never said his base stealing percentage was declining. Kind of meant he's getting older you can't expect many more years where he gives you so many stolen bases . I guess that means I was right on most of the other stuff I said about him and misinterpreted on the bolded.
  17. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) I can honestly say that I've bought in on this "All In" campaign. My future wife and I skipped Christmas presents for each other this year and we purchased the weekday 27-game ticket package, shortly after the Dunn/PK/AJ signings. Maybe our two seats in section 531 will make a difference in a mid-season move.. We've made it to 10-12 games a year over the past 3 seasons It's really become how we spend our summers, so we decided to make it official with the season ticket package and we paid the parking up front at the discounted rate. You got yourself a great fiancee my man.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Despite his arm, he's a pretty damn good lf too. I know the popular thing around here is to hate on Juan Pierre and I'm certainly not a huge fan of his but he actually is decently important considering him and Rios have to cover a lot of freakin ground to make up for Q's ineptness out there. I just feel about him the way you do. I don't hate on any Sox player. He's a good defender and came through a decent amount in RBI situations. His arm is not good. He bunts way too often for the amount of success he has at it. No power at all ,not even many doubles . Decent base stealer but he's declining.
  19. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Me too. Is there any way possible that he could beat out Juan Pierre for Left Field? LA benched him for twice the price so money isn't an issue. That would give us something like: Rios Beckham Dunn PK Quentin Pierzynski Morel Ramirez Viciedo or some other way at the bottom to have a deadly turnover after the 1st inning. Unfortunately Pierre is god-like to Ozzie , one last remnant of his run and shoot offense.
  20. QUOTE (soreal35 @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) Yes sir I applaud your musical and vocal abilities and your obvious passion for the Sox.
