  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) Sale is sexy. Yea I think he may become my favorite player . He's built just like me .
  2. QUOTE (qwerty @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) They should have taken out kotsay in the middle of his at bat so that he could have also received a standing ovation. Damn shame. That was funny.
  3. Just watched Dayan bat against the sidewinder and it made me think what if baseball players could have a coach communicating to them through a headset in the helmet. After Dayan got down 0-2 and the pitcher pitched the next one outside I thought he'll go out there again and try to get Dayan to fish. And sure enough he did and Dayan swung and missed. You would think a coach could communicate the same stuff.
  4. Thanks to all the 2005 WS winners who are left and maybe be gone next year. Would also like to see Beckham get in there to PH. Flowers 1st hit !
  5. It's not certain if Walker will return. From Whitesox.com : CHICAGO -- Even with Ozzie Guillen firmly entrenched as manager for the 2011 season, White Sox hitting coach Greg Walker has yet to decide if he will be returning. "I never make a decision before getting away from baseball," said Walker, who originally spoke about his pending decision a few weeks ago to the Sun-Times, before Guillen's return was made official. "Ozzie wants me to come back," Walker said. "Our coaching staff and manager are clicking as good as we ever have. Our manager has had a great year. Our coaching staff has fought the fight. We are a very close-knit group. I would miss that very much, but my family comes first." Walker's present hedging on returning for his eighth full season certainly doesn't mean the White Sox will be shopping for a new hitting coach. As Walker explained, he simply likes to get away at the end of the season, "go out in the woods in Georgia and chill," before making a decision. That process follows whether Walker has three years on a present deal or one year. He'll certainly run the final call by his family, but Walker pointed out that he also has a baseball family in Chicago to consider. "This is part of my family, too, so it enters into the equation," said Walker of his love for the White Sox. "I never make any decisions until the season is over. I love this job, I love the players and I love our staff. "Chicago -- it's my home. But I don't rush into it because I don't have to. I've done other things, so I know I'm capable of doing other things. I still have a great deal of passion for this job. Over the years, we've gotten good at what we do here, and we are getting better every year. So, that's where I'm at."
  6. Viciedo 2/3 double and HR now batting .310. Morel 1/3 double, DeAza 1/3 rbi double, Lillibridge 1/2 2 rbi single, Flowers 0/1, 2 walks, 2 runs scored , still batting .000. Pierre, Vizuel, Konerko and Teahan combined 0/11. Sox win rain shortened game 6-2.
  7. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I don't know what is sadder. That Viciedo is making Ozzie look stupid again, or Flowers already having 4 walks in 10 ABs to A.J.'s 15 walks in 472 at-bats. Flip a coin.
  8. Viciedo 2/3 double and HR now batting .310. Morel 1/3 double, DeAza 1/3 rbi double, Lillibridge 1/2 2 rbi single, Flowers 0/1, 2 walks, 2 runs scored , still batting .000. Pierre, Vizuel, Konerko and Teahan combined 0/11. Sox win rain shortened game 6-2.
  9. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) PAULIE!!!! (grand slam HR, 4 RBIs) TANK!! (2 run HR) JONES!! (2 RBIs) JOHNNY D!!!!!! (6 solid innings to earn win #15) SANTOS!! (2 solid innings in relief, including striking out the side) MOREL! (nice defense at 3rd) Did we just see our 2011 rotating DH/1B duo: Konerko/Viciedo? I hope so... Let's keep on winning. Someones paying attention. Nice to see
  10. Nice come back win. Sale again looked darn good and awesome of Dayan to hang in there with 2 strikes after hardly getting any AB's lately. Quentin said the same thing in the post game interview.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 25, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) He's the next Joe Crede, only without as much power. I'm in the Morel camp and actually think he can have as much power as Crede and even more.
  12. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) If it wasn't for his craftiness on certain slides, that 76% would and should be much lower. There has been at least 7-8 times he was actually caught stealing a base, but avoided it either by slides or the SS/2B dropping the ball. His OBP as I've said many times is inflated (people will point oh, he's hitting lower in average... well then that will balance out by his career year in HBP) and don't get me started on his power. To me, he's declining.. and I hope the sox can deal him this off-season... plus I've always hated his game as a player. Your post was a microcosm of mine 3 posts above yours.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) I'm impressed that some of you guys can still get excited for this. Certainly a nice comeback but I can't get into this whatsoever. You're still watching. Maybe you watch train wrecks too.
  14. Good hit Juan . Still need a few more for the win or a long one.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Pierre never gets rest when he's in there. That's one of his things. Yes, Pierre has a lot of CS. However...Pierre isn't the problem on that. He's been reliably at 76% all year on CS's. 75%ish is the magic number where you're actually making a difference. He has a lot of CS because he's stolen a ton of bases. It's actually bothered me more the times he hasn't run rather than the times he has...times when they've bunted with him. Rios, Ramirez are guys that the CS's have bothered me a lot m ore. That's why an over reliance on him has its faults for the future. He would have been CS a lot more if he wasn't so good at avoiding tags when he was basically dead to rights. So right now is he barely passable. Going forward we don't have much to look forward to with him as he will be getting slower and still has a bad arm and no power. His OBP was OK due his getting HBP so many times. It's true there are too many CS by others which brings us back to Ozzie's methods which are questionable in the AL at best where Pierre is still a microcosm of the Ozzie way.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Well, it's not like we are going to move Pierre anywhere. And quite frankly, he has been a pretty decent player for us. Pierre is a microcosm of what's wrong with Ozzie. I will agree that Pierre has been "decent" but he's not getting any younger and has a ton of caught stealings. Ozzie over relies on him to a fault. Seems to me Pierre has had less rest than any other starter. I can remember Jones in left a few times during the season . As far as Larussa goes no thanks. Too old, too expensive wants too much control.
