I was somewhat surprised to not see a winner thread so here it is albeit somewhat late. Peavy looked great. He pitched 7 innings ( pitch count 95) gave up 6 hits ( 2 bunt hits ,an infield chopper and a bloop) so he wasn't hit hard at all but had to escape a few jams and induced a couple of DP ground balls. He walked 2 and K'ed 8 and gave up no runs. His pitches had all kinds of movement and looked nasty. The Sox won 2-0.
The Sox offense made another no name pitcher look like Cy Young but a Beckham HR after a crucial error by Inge on a rountine Rios grounder produced the 2 runs. The Beckham HR was his 58th RBI which leads all AL rookies and also broke up a no hitter by Eddie Bonine in the 6th inning.
Randy Williams, Octavio Dotel and Matt Thornton shut down the Tigers the rest of the way with Thornton picking up his 2nd save of the season. Sox pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts.

Eddie "Cy" Bonine
Bonine was the guy the Tigers sent out to make room for Aubrey Huff on the roster following his trade from the Orioles on Aug. 17. His last game action with the Tigers was a spot start in late July, but he'll be used out of the bullpen for the stretch run. He has allowed 11 runs over 14 innings in five games with Detroit this summer.
I voted PK, JD, BJ, SP, TP and FG. If Paulie can produce this years numbers next year, I'm fine with that. JD will bounce back and can be rotated in at DH for more rest if he signs a decent contract. Jenks is a tough one especially with a ballooning contract and injury issues but decent bullpen arms are scarce and he's still decent. Pods if he can keep up his fountain of youth act. Pena decent bullpen arm again with potential. Freddie because he'd make a good 5th starter or bullpen arm though he will probably only come back if he can start.

For the right offer of course, but who is likely to offer up anything major for Konerko, Rios, Pierzynski, Quentin, or Getz/Nix?
You can package guys together.

Quentin:
one year wonder? or hobbled by injuries this season and shouldn't be judged on these results?
He'll be back. He's a good hitter.

I wonder what Walker has done to pull Dye out of his 3 month slump.
I'd like to know what Jermaine's done.I don't see him in a different place in the batters box. His approach seems the same as always.

I think Dye's dropoff might be the #1 reason with Buehrle's mediocre second half behind that. The bullpen's been bad as well. I don't know, it's probably a combination of the three.
Throw Rios suckage in there too.
