QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) They are so die hard that they were at the games watching. Where were you during the game? Obviously not supporting the team with ticket funds. You want me to fly in from California ? -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) It's not worth it Ace.... I'm just glad we got a victory from the Bears AND the Sox for Hudson today. I'm sure that pie to the face couldn't have felt more satisfying for the rookie. Me too. I'm just a little disappointed after reading all the rhetoric that a Sox team done for the reason with a huge key for the future success of the franchise pitching can't attract more of the supposed die hards that inhabit this sight. Didn't want an argument at all just saying how I feel. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Congrats Huddy. I like how this stat sheet looks. Power and RBI for Rios and Quentin. Get those 2 guys back to normal next season and all of our problems except the bullpen go away. That's exactly what I've been thinking . Rios and Q healthy and productive and Beckhams and Getz' 2nd season and the offense goes from crap to pretty good. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) You do realize there was 103 post in the game thread right? And the season is over not to mention everyone is watching the Bears game (or their other favorite teams) right now on football Sunday. A whole 103 huh ? So what's that like 50 more posts than the shortest game thread of the year ? Yes the season is over that's the whole point of most of the let the kids play posts. I also realize the most people post in game threads while watching the game so having the Bears game on can't be too much of an excuse. That's why you have a remote control. -

For all the Soxtalk chatter I've seen about letting the kids play it seemed odd to me when push comes to shove there's not a whole lot of interest in watching Hudson pitch weather it's in the game thread or lack of posting a winners thread or commenting in said thread. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) Ozzie confirmed before the game today that it was a veteran who he was calling out, and not one of Ramirez/Quentin/Beckham/Getz/Flowers This is a quote from WhiteSox.com :"Listen, I have [Alexei] Ramirez, Carlos Quentin, Gordon Beckham, and I got [Chris] Getz," Guillen said. "I have [Tyler] Flowers. I have seven or eight kids, and the problem we have in baseball is that the people who run this thing, they let players do whatever they want to do, and that's why they do whatever they want to do. "My job is to teach those kids that it is not the way to do it. I never tell my players what to do or how to prepare yourself, but when you lose a game and all of a sudden you look around and they are watching another thing, that means you are teaching the kids, 'Don't worry about it, this is the big leagues. If we lose a game, who cares? We are out of the pennant race.' "I have to teach these kids it's not the way we should handle this stuff," Guillen said. "If I let that thing go away, then I don't have the power and the right to tell the kids in the future what to do because it was like, 'Well, two years ago, you let them do it.'" If those are the quotes you're referring to I don't see anything in there that said it was a veteran or say's it wasn't one of the kids. No one was exonerated and no one was implicated. Could be a mix of vets and kids were watching a game and Ozzie didn't like the example it was setting .

In the last home game of the season the Sox offense came alive to back a strong effort by rookie Daniel Hudson. Hudson, who picked up his 1st major league victory pitched 6 innings walked 5 ,K'ed 4 and gave up only 2 earned runs against a Tiger team striving to fight off the Minnesota Twins for the lead in the Central division. Carlos Quentin had 4 RBI with a double and a 3 run bomb, both to right center field. Scott Podsednik had an RBI triple to continue to lead the Sox hitters in batting average with runners in scoring position. Gordan Beckham drove in Pods with a double . Mark Kotsay and Jermaine Dye contributed run scoring singles.

Wasn't the Georgia /Arizona St. game ending shortly after the Sox game. Maybe Beckham wanted to watch his alma mater eek out a thrilling victory. I frankly don't have a problem with it. The game is already over. What are the players supposed to do ? Sulk ? Ozzie is from Venezuela and didn't go to college so he can't imagine what it's like being a fan of the school you like or attended. Not only that but the only football he cares about probably isn't played with that funny shaped ball Americans like so much but a white round one you kick around. I read the TV's were already on and maybe some staff members were watching the games and so you come in after a loss and sit down and watch and unwind after yet another bad loss.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) There's something really wrong with the clubhouse because a few guys want to watch football after games... after we've been mathematically eliminated? (eyes rolling) Beckham must have been watching Georgia eek out a win over Az. St. I don't see what the big deal is. Ozzie never had an alma mater to root for. -

Sox look to continue to play the role of spoiler. We're very popular in Minnesota right now. Not exactly where we wanted to be but things could be worse.

Peavy 2010 # 1 starter, Beckham 2010 # 3 hitter ,Thornton 2010 closer. -
I was somewhat surprised to not see a winner thread so here it is albeit somewhat late. Peavy looked great. He pitched 7 innings ( pitch count 95) gave up 6 hits ( 2 bunt hits ,an infield chopper and a bloop) so he wasn't hit hard at all but had to escape a few jams and induced a couple of DP ground balls. He walked 2 and K'ed 8 and gave up no runs. His pitches had all kinds of movement and looked nasty. The Sox won 2-0. The Sox offense made another no name pitcher look like Cy Young but a Beckham HR after a crucial error by Inge on a rountine Rios grounder produced the 2 runs. The Beckham HR was his 58th RBI which leads all AL rookies and also broke up a no hitter by Eddie Bonine in the 6th inning. Randy Williams, Octavio Dotel and Matt Thornton shut down the Tigers the rest of the way with Thornton picking up his 2nd save of the season. Sox pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/vide...s&topic_id= Video highlights here including an interview of Peavy after the game by Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams of MLB.TV

Eddie "Cy" Bonine Bonine was the guy the Tigers sent out to make room for Aubrey Huff on the roster following his trade from the Orioles on Aug. 17. His last game action with the Tigers was a spot start in late July, but he'll be used out of the bullpen for the stretch run. He has allowed 11 runs over 14 innings in five games with Detroit this summer. -
