2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) Not really the point. They have to find out what De Aza can do against lefty pitching. Unless they just don't think he's in the plans for 2012 at all, which could be the case. He got a hit against a lefty reliever the other day and his Charlotte numbers were good against lefties.

8/7 Gamethread Sox vs Twins
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 10:33 AM) Wondering why a banner ad for menopause is showing up when I click on the Viciedo thread. Anyway, let's sweep these b****es. That is a curious ad considering this site is probably at least 95% male. And I'll go out on a limb and say membership for menopausal females is maybe 0%.

8/7 Gamethread Sox vs Twins
I brought a Bananarama Greatest Hits CD at a yard sale for .50 . I mention it because track 12 is Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss him Goodbye) which I'm listening to right now .

Zach Stewart called up
Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Peavy, Humber, Stewart, Sale all potential starters next year. Gotta still dump salary so that means MB or JP will or should go. Cheap guys Humber, Sale, Stewart stay though Stewart is no lock to make the team let alone the starting 5. Pierre should be gone so DeAza and Viciedo make the team. Most likely traded is Danks. So does KW load up on more pitching or try for a bat ? At what position can we get a bat ? I'd say KW will be trying like hell to get rid of one of the big salaries of Peavy, Dunn, Konerko, Buehrle, Rios. Konerko and MB are Sox icons so unless KW can rid himself of JP, Rios or Dunn then I'm guessing Danks will be traded. I like Morel . He seems to be hanging in there and learning how to hit better and love his glove. Beckham who knows . The team should look dramatically different next year and more so if Ozzie is fired as he should be ,taking Walker with him. Have to keep Cooper. I think we still have the means to compete next year . I know the Twins are bad but they've still had our number for a while and with guys like De Aza and Stewart leading the way we have turned the corner against them. Quentin might be moved also but would hate to lose him. Guys like him and Danks are sell high candidates and could restock or minors or get MLB ready players.

WS WINNA!
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) How exactly do we dump him? Who would take him? We're better off pulling for him to excel here. I made a trade proposal . It's around in one of those trade winds threads. It was a clear win for the Sox though in terms of getting back talent and salary relief . It was a blockbuster with TX.

WS WINNA!
Stewart looked good for those of you who couldn't believe it when I suggested he be the 5th starter the rest of the year. He'll have his ups and downs but I wanted to try and dump Peavy and his salary at the trade deadline.

Hey, what's with all this lying around?
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Gotcha. I thought I was just missing the joke or references. Missing the jokes or references ? It's the annual Animal House speech with a few twists. I liked it but I'm a huge Animal House fan so I'll never get tired of it.

If the Sox Win in Minnesota and No one watched it....

Hitting Approach
1st time since that 1968 series with the Red Sox that the Sox have gone 4 straight games without a BB.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) why the f*** do these guys swing at the first pitch in such a pivotal situation. I know it was a rhetorical question but Dunn almost never swings at the 1st pitch . Probably didn't want to get behind in the count. The ball Q hit caught a lot of the plate. Most likely looked pretty good to him.

Dayan Viciedo Watch
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) Too bad they wasted his being "locked in" for months in Charlotte. Now that he's in a funk due to the thumb injury they'll probably be bringing him up soon. That would be something. Just chalk it up to this Murphy's Law of a season.

A response....
Lauren, A response from you was the last thing I expected to see on this forum. You and Mark have have shown nothing but class and generosity through all your charitable acts. Also let me assure you that although we both know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that this beholder can see the beauty you possess both inside and out. Tall women with hearts of gold and a beautiful smile are too rare in my book . Good luck to you and yours.

Ozzie confirms Rios will be in lineup tomorrow
QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) I missed the game tonight, what did Rios do? Sucked as usual hitting and let a runner score from 1st on a hit and run single to right center.

Ozzie confirms Rios will be in lineup tomorrow
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) This was actually preplanned. I guess they decided to give him some starts back against lefties and see how he does. Flowers rots on the bench after Castro gets hurt.Viciedo stays in the minors for crucial games against the Twins. DeAza comes up and KW proclaims it's a message to the whole team. Everyone is getting the message loud and clear. If you suck with a big contract you will get PT.

Sox need to bale now!
There once was a barmaid named Gail on whose chest were the prices of ale. And on her behind, for the sake of the blind, was precisely the same, but in Braille.

7/30- Red Sox vs White Sox
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) can you imagine the crowd reaction to him in CF tomorrow? 8+ Innings of hearing that, dude has to be emotionally destroyed, he is human after all /daftpunk he could very well be booed out of the game depending how bad it gets I thought you said you have nothing left to say . If possible I'm more upset about Ozzie though I don't let it raise my blood pressure at all.

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Watch when Doug Davis is our fifth starter and leading us through the playoffs....haha. Actually, trading Thornton does make sense, but we're going to have to get a huge return (thinking Ricardo Rincon for Brian Giles here) that just overwhelms KW. And definitely freeing up the salary/payroll situation for 2012 and beyond helps out, too. You just have to think that any savings will disappear with a lowered payroll and not be plugged back into signing international free agents or scouting/drafting. The only money that's going to be extended uncomfortably will be for Buehrle (2-3 years) and not for Danks (4-6 years). What's Humber's status beyond this year ?

Thornton to the Texas Rangers?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) A four man rotation this far out is going to kill them by early August. We tried this down the stretch in 2008 and they barely made it over the last 2-3 weeks, and the rotation was in such shambles we had no choice but to throw Javy out there to get mowed down. If you try to go to that desperation move and you still have Peavy or Humber in the rotation, you're doubly dead. But I think this is being done with the idea that one of them (or both?) would be traded, yes?? There's no perfect move . You and I both know that. I want the Sox to make the playoffs and when they get there at least be capable of getting some runs. Pitching is our strength now. Salary and hitting our weaknesses. Sure it stresses the bullpen and starters. We are in desperation mode now unless we're giving up on this year.

Thornton to the Texas Rangers?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) They probably shouldn't from a organizational standpoint, but whether we like it or not, Kenny is going to think about how the average fan is going to react to such a trade. Thornton is a fan favorite, has been here for many years, and is still an elite BP arm. Unless he gets a player he really wants, I don't see Matt getting moved. Winning and getting runs and hitting HR's are fan favorites. I don't see Matty putting any extra butts in the seats nor would losing him mean any less.
