  1. Ozzie having fun so far giving away outs. Pierre thrown out stealing, Pierre bunting unsuccessfully with 2 strikes and Q grounding out on a 3-0 pitch.
  2. Way too many nice guys saying way too many nice things about Kotsay . What is wrong with all of you ? The venom spewed during game threads should be very entertaining. Just think of the possibilities when Kotsay , Jones, Vizquel , Pierre, and Linebrink are all in the same game !
  3. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) He'll be fine, but you'd think he lost his leg by the overreaction going on around here. I don't think showing concern over an individuals injury is an over reaction especially given it's serious nature. Mitchell has huge upside but this type of injury can lead to chronic problems. It could be the difference between having a Carl Crawford type player or a Dwayne Wise. In 9 AB's in spring training he already looked better than Wise ever did with 3 of his 4 hits being for extra bases.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) I can't see how its anything but bad. He misses a season at a time he needs experience. Running is a huge part of his game. What is the guarantee that he comes back anywhere near 100%? At a minimum, its something that sets him back a year. There's a decent chance it could be worse than that. I agree. He's the Sox #1 prospect in most opinions, a guy with huge upside. His spring play was only reaffirming what this guy could do when he concentrated on baseball. He had always played baseball and football. This was to be the year he became a baseball only guy. As others have mentioned , it's also a huge blow to the organization in regards to landing a big bat before the trade deadline. Good luck JM with hopes for a full recovery.
  5. De Aza run scoring single. Kotsay to 3rd De Aza takes 2nd on the throw. 4-3 Sox.
  6. Teahan RBI single after a walk to Kotsay loaded the bases against Cub prospect Jay Jackson.
  7. Vizquel gets the 1st Sox hit and Kenny Williams Jr. with a hit.
  8. Aquino with 2 scoreless innings for the Sox. No extra base hits by either team yet. Lots of walks and K's.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) So uh, is it a tendon or a ligament? I wonder what the downtime is gonna be like. Is it something where he'll be back in a couple months or is that pretty much it for his season? Len Kasper just said during the game that surgery will probably keep him out for the year.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) Ya he looks like dye running out there Umm spring training. He's at least 2 steps faster than Dye. He's already had a triple and at least one if not more stolen base(s) this spring. He didn't exactly have to bust his ass on any of the balls the Cubs hit. He looked to have decent speed scoring on the wild pitch.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Jones looking at lot like a corner OF playing CF tonight. What exactly did he do or not do for you to make that assessment ? Yes he's older and not as fast as some guys any more, but he made the plays he should and gunned out a guy at the plate. There was nothing he should have caught, nothing in the gaps , nothing directly over his head.
  12. Sox down 2-1 in the 3rd. Torres with the start for the Sox. Theriot led off the 1st with a bunt single that Teahan threw away. A walk and a few bloop hits got the Cubs 2 runs. Torres broke 2 bats , one on an out and another on a blooper. Jones gunned out Kevin Millar at the plate to end the inning. Sox got their run with walks by Jones, Kotsay and Flowers with K's of Teahan, De Aza and Nix with a wild pitch scoring Jones during Nix AB. I couldn't help but think Barry Bonds would've homered on each of the called 3rd strikes to Teahan , De Aza and Nix, all fastballs either right there or on the inner half of the plate. Cubs with a few more hits with 2 outs to lead 3-1 in Torres last inning.
  13. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) Shame, because THAT is the lineup I'd want to see tonight. Who do we have then? Paulie, Pierre, Jones, Kotsay, Teahen. Remind me who's pitching tonight? Lucas Harrell starting.
  14. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Very Kewl, the link I have does not give prognosis yet. See below: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...-off-field.html Someone commented after the article that he thinks he blew out his right knee . Said he heard it pop. I know its irresponsible to say that prematurely so TIFWIW.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) thats the one They have the story of his cancer and injury on youtube.
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) Remember that guy from San Francisco, who ended up having his arm amputated. Hameker I think? Dave Dravecky had cancer cut out of his pitching shoulder then pitched again 10 months later but in his 2nd start back pitching to Tim Raines his arm just snapped.
