  1. Also from press pass: A.J. Pierzynski needs one hit to establish a franchise record for the most hits by a catcher in a single season … he currently has 150 hits as a catcher this season, matching his own mark set in 2006 and 2008 … he also is looking to become the first catcher in club history to record a .300 average or better.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) any idea how long? The games is already on. Pods single ,Beckham K, Pods steals 2nd.
  3. From press pass : Rookie Gordon Beckham ranks among the American League rookie leaders in doubles (1st, 28), RBI (63), extra-base hits (43), slugging percentage (T1st, .466), home runs (2nd, 14), on-base percentage (2nd, .351) and average (3rd, .272). TWO-BAGGER TIDBITS  Gordon Beckham has recorded 28 doubles in just 101 games with the White Sox this season … Beckham, who could play in a maximum of 103 games, owns the club record for the most doubles in 103 or fewer games … Tom Paciorek held the previous club mark with 27 in 1982.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) i would love to know the rationale by Fox for showing the phillies vs. marlins in Los Angeles as their game of the week. So you're not watching Notre Dame v. Washington ?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) I like where we're set up for next year, but I think this team dramatically underplayed its talent level, especially offensively, and thus, I can't consider missing the playoffs a success. I seem to recall a thread where making the playoffs this year wouldn't even have been considered a success by many here since it's a weak division and many couldn't foresee advancing beyond the 1st round any way.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) "Hello, Is there anybody in there Just nod if you can hear me Is there anyone at home?"
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) In case anyone wanted to know (and a few people got one name right) Beckham was one of them. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws That seemed pretty obvious to me though everyone in the thread ignored it. What I said on page 2 "Wasn't the Georgia /Arizona St. game ending shortly after the Sox game. Maybe Beckham wanted to watch his alma mater eek out a thrilling victory." After that everyone believed Ozzie called out a veteran player but he never really did.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) According to Gonzales... Sox's lineup: Pods lf, Beckham 3b, KOTSAY dh, RIOS cf, Fields 1b, Wise rf, Flowers c, Nix 2b, Lillibridge ss, Torres p Isn't that two nights in a row with AJ and Dye sitting? Maybe one of those two was the "TV" guy, if not both. More like just a game that has nothing to do with with teams like the Tigers or Twins where Ozzie would use a better lineup because he doesnt want to be at less then his best for teams still in the race.
  9. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Didn't even post on the game thread until page 5? tisk tisk I was busy flying in from California to go to the game
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) Now I know you are lying. Seems that way doesn't it ?
  11. Danks with a heckuva game , 9innings 3 hits, 1 R, 7 K's, 1 BB ! Beckham 3 RBI . Lillibridge ,Fields , Beckham and Wise with 2 hits each .
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) Some fan that dude in California is. Hasn't even posted in here yet. *shakes head* I was here just as a guest while working on my old computer. By the time I was ready to reconnect my newer one and shut down the old one I had 24 new updates to install. Great game. Danks was unbelievable and who would've guessed that Fields and Lillibridge would have 2 hits each ? Beckham with the late push to try to get ROY.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Why do we suddenly think it's a great idea to take on all the chaff that is ruining the Cubs? This. I can't believe anyone really wanting Bradley and Z on our team. The Sox are not even close to being that desperate.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:41 AM) Guys, we're all huge funs. We post on a message board for christ's sake. No need to get on each others cases. All is well thanks Thunderbolt. I get a bit preachy sometimes and for that I apologize.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:31 AM) I took my kids to the local park. I wasn't at the game. I did however drop 200 bucks a week ago to watch the Royals destroy Mark Buerhle and the vets, so maybe that can give me a pass. Its the end of the season. Watching the kids play is the only thing worth watching. In fact, the only reason I checked the box score from time to time on Sunday was due to the fact that Hudson was pitching. We are in a transition from the older core to a new younger core. Hudson and Flowers are part of that new core. I would like to see what they can do, get their feet a bit wet this year. I love watching the new blood play . The starting pitching should be awesome next year . Hudson has the potential to be as good as any Sox starter in recent memory . The defense and hitting can be much better with Beckham and Alexei being better acclimated to their new positions and the league in general and with Rios and Quentin having rebound years. I'm really looking forward to next year.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:54 AM) Then you might not want to include 2 paragraphs on what an awesome fan you are. It was only the first paragraph where I said how awesome I am .
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:56 AM) But you are. This is why you are posting this nonsense. Enough with the self richeous crap. I am sorry I wasn't in the game thread oh overlord of soxtalk fandom. I decided to take my kids to the park, it was a nice Sunday and all. I don't think people need a lesson in fandom from anyone. I'm very sorry you feel offended by my post. My fandom was questioned therefore I responded not in a negative or sarcastic way but in a way in which I could express my thoughts. Obviously if you were at the game my original post was not directed at you . I was merely pointing out the the "play the kids" theme I hear is just frustration talking and inevitably will produce more of a losing team which in turn will not be as supported as a winning team.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:02 AM) If you were a true fan you would have. lol. As a long time Sox fan, I do what I can to support them. I pay for Extra Innings on DirecTV to watch them. I buy tix to game in Anaheim and Dodger Stadium. I have a file in my bookmarks dedicated to Sox blogs , fan sights. Palehose 6, 7, 8 and 9. minor league affiliates pages , just about everywhere I can read info on the Sox. A total of 46 bookmarks on the Sox alone . Thousands of Sox baseball cards dating back to the 1950's. World Series DVD and memorablia. A Sox program from the 70's in which my dad and a couple of my brothers had their photo taken on an ad for Family Night. About 10 different Sox hats and various clothing. I usually read a whole thread before just jumping into it to get everyone's perspective. I rather be humorous than dour in my posts and prefer not to be thought of as that cranky old dude. I don't get too high when they win or too low when they suck. I rather be positive than negative and trust me as old as I am I have seen a whole hell of a lot of bad seasons worse than this one. All Sox fans to me are great but you 20 somethings cannot understand being a Sox fan all your life and never seeing a team in the World Series , living year after year supporting a team that never had a chance to win the pennant before they made divisions to give more teams chances at the postseason like my father and grandfather did. So excuse me if I point out that it appears to me a few people talk the talk but don't walk the walk. I'm not saying I'm a better fan or a truer fan than anyone here just more seasoned and appreciative of seeing the Sox going through a time where they are more competitive.
