The official word is Q fouled off a pitch from Cliff Lee , wasn't happy he fouled it off and did what he always does : holding the bat in his left hand he basically punches the sweet spot of the bat with his right hand. I saw the exact replay and I didn't notice if it was palm open or closed fist but he probably missed the part of his hand he wanted to hit the bat with coming too close to the wrist. The surgery is the fastest way they can deal with the injury and leaves open the option of returning for the postseason if everything falls into place . Heal well and quickly Q and "GO SOX" . I'm guessing here but he had 99 rbi's for a few games then got 100 and hasn't had an rbi since. That makes 1 rbi in his last 6 or 7 games. So he had to be hurting. Need him healthy for the home stand where we need to win 7/10 minimum.

Will JD be distracted by OC ?
