Heres some more speculation. Maybe the trade for Soriano would have been done already if McCarthy was part of the deal. Could be Kenny's trying to dump Vazquez or Garcia and keep BMac with plans to move him into the rotation and flip Soriano for Zito, Schmidt, or Dontrelle .

Ahhh ! I love trade rumors. Since we won the World Series . I've been pretty scarce around here. I'd come around and do a lil lurking , reading how Matt Thorton had no place on a major league roster and thinking its all so immaterial to me now. After all we are World Champs and will be until we're eliminated or win it again. I will not let anything spoil having that giddy feeling no Sox fan had experienced for 88 years. But all that being said. When trade rumors come up I love it. So far the big blockbuster has us getting Soriano. The members of the organization involved so far includes Podsednik, Anderson, McCarthy, Fields and Broadway. Keep Pods ? Does he become the new centerfielder or a supersub ? Do we just rent Soriano or sign him long term ? Maybe we trade him since theres still another week left before the trade deadline? Can we possibly afford to just rent him while giving up the best prospects we have ? The possibilities are endless and the best part is it might never happen. Or it could happen ! Just think of the lineup ! Damn ! Right now we're in a hitting funk, but clearly one of the best offenses in baseball. Soriano adds speed and power. What if the pitching suddenly does what it is capable of doing ? Damn , another World Series would be a walk in the park. Suddenly Buerhle's pitching like the MB of old , Garland continues his recent run of good starts, the Count stays dominant , Freddy G. pitches like everyone knows he can and Javy Vazquez ,no matter how you slice it is better then just about every other 5th starter. Oooh maybe we give up a starter and move McCarthy into the rotation. Oh this is fun ! Sumone give me more idle major trade speculation.

I wouldnt mind seeing Podsednik go , would hate losing Fields or Broadway. Fields is more expendable since he's at 3rd and Crede is entrenched there now.

Yea I saw it. Dont worry since its espn news u'll see it again in about 1/2 hr. Wasnt much to it ,pretty much what u saw. Didnt say much else.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Not the right thread, but Beltre just hit an inside the parker against the Red Sox to take the lead in the bottom of the 8th. In terms of work ethic, Widge may have just felt real comfortable this year, while last year he was new to the team and trying to prove that he still could play at the major league level so he worked doubly as hard. And you never know, something else could have been going on in Widge's personal life, but I can't speculate on that. Either way I wish him the best. I was watching the supposedly inside the park homerun. Coco Crisp scales the wall to attempt a catch and the balls hits the wall 4 ft behind him . Manny Ramires attempts to barehad the ball off the wall and it bounces off his hand back to Crisp about 10 ft away. Crisp misses both cutoff men and Beltre beats the throw home. I cant believe Manny didnt get an error.

Anderson's strikeout totals are alarming

BA will either figure it out or he won't. If he is still struggling at the trade deadline the Sox wil have to figure out if his defense is more valuable to winning another World Series or will a huge hole in the lineup be that much of a detriment to that same goal. Remember in the Series pitchers bat at the National league parks so that would make 2 gaping holes in the lineup. I seriously doubt the Sox want that. Right now you can see they like his D or else Mackowiak would be getting more AB's then he is. -
Liotta is in camp and sceduled to pitch in the March 1st intrasquad game.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) ..... I of course was trying to get the Sox series tickets and figured if I picked off some of my competition I could have a better chance. So I disabled their access. I'm glad to see sumone picked up the ball and ran with it. It's easy to say "give me a f***in break" or "relax" when if you were monitored as your employees are would you be able to "relax" ? What you did was for you're own personal gain. It had nothing to do with company policy or the laws regarding the invasion of privacy. -

QUOTE(Allsox @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) If this amusing act is seen as an abuse of power, I highly condone it! I'm sure it was very amusing to those who couldn't use company time to purchase tickets but one individual could. Hypocrisy and and corruption always starts out small. The more you can get away with the more your attempts grow on a grander scale. Laugh if you want it just shows how morally bankrupt we've become. When we curse the generations to come look inwards because we are the ones who taught them. -
Thanks for posting that. Always good to know that a person can overcome his background to achieve things that at one point seemed unreachable. He is the White Sox version of Don Quixote. His daughter's name is Cuma ???

So let me get this straight you police your company's internet access but around World Series time you policed everyone but yourself. So even though company time is to be used for company business that policy is enforced by you for everyone but you. Seems to me that this is akin to a police officer busting a dude for selling drugs then turning around and selling them himself. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and yet many here applaud you. It's no wonder we distrust those in power because once we find ourselves in a position of power we often times abuse it also. When the shoe is on the other foot and we have something to gain personally all morals and ethics we claim to have are betrayed. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) f***ing DirecTV even has the goddamned replays blacked out! f*** YOU DIRECTV!!! It's not a live game, you're not carrying it on any of your "MLB" channels either (I subscribe to those too) but you're still f***ing blacking the game out! The YES network replayed a Yankees/Braves world series game from 96 yesterday, why the f*** didn't you black that out. You can tell I'm mad. No s*** ! I'm in the same boat as u and I was workin when this game was on so I really wanted to see it. And since I was at the pennant clincher in Anaheim I wanted to record it on my dvd recorder too. I'm so super pissed.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) The Red Sox are now paying good money for Mike Lowell to play 3B and Mark Loretta to play 2B. They also still have Edgar Renteria at SS and Alex Cora as a utility infielder. I think they just want the draft pick for losing Graffanino. Say bye bye to Renteria.

QUOTE(suffering-nomore-sox fan @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Since 2002, I have been known as "Suffering Sox Fan". Now my suffering is gone with the World Series Championship! Isn't it great? It's awesome ! Your new name can apply to every single Sox fan but more so to the ancient ones. -

QUOTE(Drew @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) I don't usually wear a lot of team stuff, but since I am planning trips to spring training, Anaheim, possibly Seattle, Cooperstown, or Fenway this coming season, I'd like to have something to wear. That's quite a haul from Burbank to Anaheim. Hey Drew can I add you to my sig ? -
Thanks guys those were fun !

QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) No they are the actual broadcasts, but they are put together pretty nice, with chapters built in per inning, the post game shows, parade, etc, with no commercials. Just search for "white sox dvd" on eBay. You will have to dig around a little because the standard dvd is all of the place. Sounds like the DVD's I made for the World Series. Its hard to edit commercials out sometimes u forget to take the DVD recorder off pause and miss a pitch or 2 especially when Fox had it timed out so a commercial would last right before the pitch to start the inning.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Frank can't be released. He's a free agent already. I'm just reporting what ESPN news said a few minutes ago as one of its top stories ,wether it makes sense or not
-
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Isn't it ironic - we are spending the offseason speculating on whether Big Frank will be reporting to spring training... SFF I don't think we're specualting any more ESPN is reporting that Frank will be released.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) All these luxury seats we're selling out certainly doesn't hurt our chances of getting there iether. I wonder just how many of those seats were bought by brokers or investors looking to capitalize on another World Series or or increased interest in the Sox. My bet is over 50%.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) I felt and wrote after the Thome signing that in a typical Sox move they were going to sign 35-year old + injury @ 7.2 mil *instead of* 29-year old + All-Star + Division MVP @ $12-$15 mil. I thought the chances were slimer than none that Konerko would be a Sox player in 2006. I am happy to admit I was verrrrrrry wrong. Takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. We need more like you here.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I think it would be best to ignore Pierre's 2005 Marlins numbers. One thing we've learned since the Cell became one of the best hitter's parks in the majors is that nearly everybody that comes here hits better. There were a lot of ??? about Pods coming off a lack luster 2004 & he experienced borderline all-star caliber numbers. So it's best for established guys to look at their career numbers when they come to the White Sox. Juan Pierre: (v L: 808AB, 307A, 352O, 347S; v R:2603, 304A, 355O, 384S) You have to believe Ozzie had him in mind when he made that annoucement. He said he wants to both take the pressure off Pods (another SB threat) & give Iguchi more opportunities to hit (#6). With the Marlins in firesale mode this seems like a sure bet. Don't see the Pierre thing happening either. Pods and Pierre sounds good ( love the alliteration) but hate the D and lack of arm strength. Gotta keep the pitchers happy and keep the defensivemindedness intact. -

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) I just had a vision .. a dream really. Is our new CFer going to be Ichiro? Think about. The White Sox have never been at a stronger position to trade then now. Ichiro has already expressed misgivings about Seattle. He is not bigger than the Seattle M's. Figuratively speaking the park is bigger than Ichiro. I'm just throwing that out there because I really think the sky is the limit right now for filling that hole. The gate revenue has picked up, the luxury boxes are sold out, the new Comcast deal is expected to deliver their best broadcast revenue to date, & inventory can't keep up with demand on merchandise. All of it speaks volumes of a mid-revenue team in big-revenue market about to make that leap forward. Isn't Seattles ownership Japanese? No way in hell do they deal Ichiro. But its a good dream.
