  1. And if they do they will finally be above 21 games over .500, which, I believe, they have hit 3 times only to fall back each time. The Rays at 35 above .500 have just about run away with Home field advantage for the AL but Houston, Oakland , NY, Boston and Sox are all vying for HFA in the early stages of the playoffs unless, of course, they play TB.
  2. Like I said a week ago, even when many still want to see Moncada batting 2nd, but Tim and Robert , 1 and 2, is about as dynamic 1st 2 guys in a lineup as there is. Teams that score 1st have a much better record. No Tim today but Robert 2nd just keeps on showing how good he can truly be if he stays healthy.
  3. Fans come to see the team win. The griping about the team keeping guys as fresh and uninjured as possible is just nuts. There is no challenge to the Sox in the division . Get Kimbrel right and this team is going far, fresh , healthy and firing on all cylinders.
  4. Meaningless games in the grand scheme. 1 good thing 1 bad thing. Reylo continued to pitch well and Kimbrel who many thought shouldn't be in the game failed his test. Yes he was in there for one reason and that was to see if the things he had mentioned he was working on were fixed in a situation where if he got hit hard it wouldn't matter. No fix that day. Maybe soon.
  5. I'm predicting a 7-2 White Sox victory. Throw your final score or any other predictions out there.
  6. And bad pitching does not equal bad bullpen management. There is no poster here who has kept a daily chart of sideline sessions, minor aches and pains, bullpen sessions, how often pitched, how many pitches thrown, studied film or has any idea on how to maintain and run an MLB pitching staff. In the preseason we went from everyone thinking we had a lockdown BP to wtf is happening. Gone are those preseason heros like Heuer, Foster, Marshall. A lot of the faces have changed and Kopech and Crochet are enduring their 1st full seasons and we are seeing the ups and downs of that and keeping them as fresh and healthy as possible. No one can say for sure whats going on with Kimbrel. It's hard to explain the vast difference in 1st half results with the Cubs to results with us. Liam has had struggles too. On paper this BP looks like it should dominate now. All you can do is play the guys who are supposed to be the best and hope they pitch like the best. There is still time to right the ship and for them all to get settled in their roles .
  7. You want your lineup rested until about 2 or 3 weeks before the playoffs start. Then you let your regulars play a lot in that 2-3 weeks and heading into the playoffs. Just because guys are young does not mean baseball doesn't wear them out. It is a grind. Eloy and Robert are coming off serious injuries and anyone watching Robert can tell he's not running like he used to. Legs being fresh is so important. You just can't go from not playing at all and rehabbing to playing all out every day. As long as they are hitting when they play and not playing recklessly we all should be good keeping them focused on 2 things, health and being ready for the post season. You saw after clinching last year they rested a lot and you see how that turned out. That's the difference between an inexperienced playoff manager and a guy who has had his team in the post season many times before. It doesn't guarantee success in the post season but it's the right way to approach it.
  8. For everyone who thinks the 8th or 9th inning means anything to Kimbrel, it doesn't. He said how he pitched in his save had nothing to do with the inning and everything to do with fixes he's been working on. I realize the timing of him being bad in anything other than the 9th would make fans and media speculate it makes a difference or it was a bad move to force him to pitch in any other role but closer. But if he says his badness was due to making mistakes in his delivery I'll go with that. Baseball On Fanatics on youtube video of the post game interview . It's the last question in the sequence.
  9. I'll take a sweep but expecting one is kind of silly. You are expecting too much and it's no wonder our fans get so irritated in game threads. TLR won't be doing anything differently. The great lineup with every position player we all want to see playing might not even be on the field for even 1 of the 3 games. Neither team has ever swept the other one in a season series of at least 6 games before, even when one team sucked and the other was very good. Sweeping this series means we sweep the season series. There have been two season series sweeps, both by the Cubs in 1998 (3 games) and 2013 (4 games). I have no idea if these games still have a corporate sponsorship. In 2010, 2011, and 2012, the trophy was sponsored by oil and gas company BP and was known as the BP Crosstown Cup. From 2013 to 2018 there was no corporate sponsor. In 2019 the trophy was sponsored by the financial holding company Wintrust and was therefore called the Wintrust Crosstown Cup.
  10. Sox have never had a guy as young as Tatis killing it in the minors like he was at 18 and 19 yrs. old. Easily over 1/3 of his hits where for extra bases playing SS. You never know how they would have reacted. Even now being 22 with all our young stars he would still be the youngest guy on the team. Hard to think that he's still 22 with everything he has gone through. The Padres actually seem to have brought him up at the right time. He was a mature hitter and getting stronger. Even this year through all the injuries he has 100 hits with 58 of them being doubles or HR's. So basically better than every other hit is either a double or a HR ! Who knows maybe Tim would have been traded or asked to switch positions or Tatis would do the same.
  11. If you do, go in the summer when the Sox are playing at the Dodgers or Angels and catch a game at either stadium.
  12. The Sox won't keep playing.500 baseball. I think eventually maybe we finish the season at between 25-29 games over .500 . This team has so much more talent than last year in the rotation and and pen and hitting too . Just get them jelling in the last 2 weeks and keep them healthy and this is one hell of a team ! Right now we are just sweating the minutiae. Sit back relax and strap it down !
  13. And keep Timmy and Sponge LuBob at the top of the order. (every time I see the top of Roberts head I think it looks like a sponge.)
  14. You're probably right. Hahn said that because because it never emphasized with the Sox . I'm sure Hahn had some idea Yermin is a problem child that let's his ego get the better of him. He sort of needed a big ego to go from where he started to reaching the majors. However once you reach the majors humbling yourself is also a key component of sticking around and apparently he is too much of a "me" guy. The whole "retirement" thing practically guarantees him making a living in Japan or Korea next year.
  15. Oh come on . I know you have plenty of enthusiasm Trev. Hard not to have obvious blunders in baseball. Stuff just happens. Any time you find yourself in Pasadena come watch a game at my place.
  16. Keep your eyes on Romy Gonzalez. He crushed AA ,which isn't easy in Birmingham. He was a 20/20 guy there . It's only been 5 games but he's 8 for 19 with 4 doubles and 3 HR's. That's 7 of his 8 hits for many extra bases . 1.000+ Slg. % and around 1.600 OPS . He went from unranked to #16 and while it's impossible to keep hitting the way he has, he seem really legit. Hit's plenty of his HR's oppo. He has easy power almost like Eloy. Not sure what position he ends up , maybe 2nd base. He'll shoot up from 16 to top 10 easy when the February rankings come out. Might even be closer to Top 5. He'll be 25 in early September. Might not be room to call him up in September but he would be fun to get a look at.
  17. What's Beckham's record when he does Sox telecasts. ? I think he's the culprit for the losses !
