  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) Adam Dunn was a pretty large Qb back in the day. Yeah, I laugh out loud every time I think of him backing up Major Applewhite. Then Texas was going to move Dunn to TE, and he said "No thanks, I'll play pro baseball." Good choice, Adam.
  2. Probably doesn't affect anyone on here (except maybe Felix), but Reid Travis is giving up football for his senior season to focus on basketball. I mainly pointed this out to say, "Can you imagine facing a 6'7" 235 lb QB in high school?" Jebus.

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 08:48 AM) One detective and the captain of the precinct. Or is he the lieutenant? Lieutenant, according to Wikipedia. Can't remember when they said that.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) That's LBJ, but then again all white guys look alike. Oh hey you're right. It went Carter then Reagan, so in my head I saw an Old White Guy and assumed H.W. And it's all OLD white guys that look alike.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) These guys were all ageists. I like how Reagan looks like he's about to casually pop Bush.

Demian Bichir is probably my favorite actor on television right now. He's been great, and so is the Bridge. Since the show is going for realism, I expect there to be some sort of fallout for two cops letting their only witness escape and get killed, but the previews didn't seem to indicate that.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) Well I got it Guest I'm going to be a cheese head Congrats! Except for being full of Packers fans, I've heard great things about Milwaukee.
  8. Never heard of this guy before today, but Indiana is a finalist for Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn along with Oklahoma and Minnesota. Kid is supposedly quick as hell. Now to the important question: Which is worse, having your first name be "Lourawls" or your nickname be "Tum Tum?"
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) More common like with Downey Jr. now is "back end" shares of profits at certain price/box office points...which ends up limiting the frontside risk and allowing studios to keep budgets lower while incentivizing actors simultaneously. Certainly makes sense.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 05:40 PM) Rumor is WB has offered Christian Bale $60 mil to play Batman again. With how much that movie would make, they could probably offer him north of $100 million. I don't think I'm joking.

    Law question

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) Thanks, it doesn't appear as though I brought up the class of the felony like I thought. Looks like I've gotta hit up the court house and get another final disposition. This happened in Indiana, right? Go to this page, for the "search by" box select "defendant" and then enter your name. Your case should come up, and it should tell you what class it was.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) Anyone see what's been happening with the A's and Rangers and Adam Rosales? He was designated by the A's and the Rangers claimed him. Then he was DFA'd by the Rangers and the A's claimed him back. Then he was DFA'd by the A's again and the Rangers claimed him again! Poor guy probably doesn't know what to cheer for at this point Saw that on MLB Network today. He said he was at least happy that his car was still in Texas.
  13. There was another musician a few days back as well. Jody Payne, Willie Nelson's guitarist.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) I hate playing blackjack with people who have no idea what they're doing. I often will just end up walking away or taking a break when that happens I know the basics of blackjack but never learned even fairly elementary strategy...so I would never sit at a blackjack table at a casino!
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) What inning did this happen in? I might watch it on mlb.tv I think it was the 3rd. If not that, then it was the 4th.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) Anybody know of "C" leagues (or not super competitive leagues) for the fall in the north/northwest suburbs? I know a few people who play in Skokie. Not sure what level it technically is, but it's not super competitive.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) Sounds like an early Illinois fan but not really THAT into it. So, it makes sense. College is hard to begin with because you aren't really old by the time you go there, so if you change teams, unless you were really into them from age 6 on or whatever, I could see where it would be easy to change. Most of my friends in HS weren't huge fans of any college in particular, so you start rooting for the school you attend. We've talked about grad school on here before, maybe that's a better example but not quite the same. I wouldn't be going to Michigan for grad school and suddenly drop Illinois and put on my hot yellow t-shirt. Yeah, that's probably it. I want to say I was 10 or 11 when I first started following Illinois basketball. The Cory Bradford/Frank Williams/Sergio McClain/Brian Cook era. Grad school is a decent comparison. If my law school were part of a DI university instead of DIII, I'd root my new school in a casual sense, but not in any manner close to how much I root for Indiana.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Thanks, and now that I know the joke, quality joke up there, poster! This, I hadn't seen that Bowden stuff either.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) I root for miami in hockey vs OSU though.... The one sport where Miami is as good as/better than Ohio State
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Bremer is as big of a homer as Hawk is, and can be really annoying when we are heated rivals of the Twins Though I find it hard to believe any broadcaster can be as a big a homer as Hawk, the Twins haven't been good since I moved here so no one is their heated rival, so I haven't had a chance to see that.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) I'd have to find the graph again, b/c i'm not sure if it was a dynamic graph on "actually using" or "i have used marijuana more than x" but millenials were about 10-12% less than age group of 40-49 Wow, that's pretty interesting. I'd be interested in that graph/their metrics.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) And more and more places are installing charging stations. The economy garage (and probably the daily garage) at Midway have them. Stores are putting them in. Tesla is installing more and more of their "supercharge" stations in populated areas. In an Energy Law class last semester, we had a project about a utility trying to get a pilot project that would have installed charging stations at the major local university included in their rate base. Pretty interesting stuff.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) I cheered like hell againt Miami when we played Ohio State. No brainer.. That's still somewhat confusing to me, but also not since they're in different conferences (and because Ohio State is just an objectively bigger athletic school). Didn't maggsmaggs go to Mizzou but he roots for Illinois? That'd be more apt, because although they're in different conferences they're still rivals.
