QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) I understand why the media hypes ridiculous articles and stories out there with zero facts, but these are the stories that SHOULD be highlighted, the ones that werent meant to be stories: http://www.cbssports.com/general/blog/greg...-cancer-patient Wow. What a story. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:11 AM) Class move.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) Always liked Michael J Fox so hope his new show is good. Agreed. The Newsroom kicked all kinds of ass tonight.

The Bridge is moving along. Still liking it.

This is the first year I've played in a while and it shows. Last night I was in left center, a line drive was hit right at me but a little short. I knocked it down but didn't field it cleanly. When I tried to pick it up, I was in such a rush that I literally spun around in a circle three times before I actually regained my balance/composure and picked up the ball. It was impressive. At least I redeemed myself with a walkoff homerun, or I would have felt a lot dumber. -
Just saw The Conjuring. It was pretty good. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but if you can see it on a deal I suggest it (have I mentioned I love $5 night? I love $5 night).

I wonder if the NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL will still prohibit weed after it's legalized?

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) Andrew Wiggins.... :o man I hope he lives up to the hype. He legitimately looks like he's flying.

This is just too good. NSA says it can't search its own emails

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) Has Alison Pil's hairline been receding? I don't think so but I can't say for sure. But it won't matter after she goes to Africa and comes back with that buzz cut died red/brown.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Presumably you mean on Kirkwood, since Sports was 2 levels long ago. Indeed I do. The bar where this incident happened, Dunnkirk, is a bar that the Prall family (who own Sports and KOK) opened up just before I graduated (Spring 2011). It's right at the corner of (you guessed it) Dunn and Kirkwood. It essentially replaced Uncle Fester's and the Jungle Room. Upstairs is still there, though. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) Booze is the past. +9

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) I think you guys should go around to intoxicated college students and loudly remind them of these facts. Well the point is it's something to think about it before you get intoxicated, like anything else related to being smart about drinking. Though I just got a great mental image of myself walking into Kilroy's and shouting at everyone, thanks for that. It would have been way more fun when it was smaller (Kilroy's has two levels now, they redid it in the Summer of 2010). -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) That said, it kind of falls in the category of that random Johnny Depp John Dillinger flick - so many variables that seem to add up to awesome, yet not awesome. I was so excited for Public Enemies...and then was really disappointed. It was just boring. That might have been because I had such high expectations though. Maybe I need to watch it again.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) Anyone else catch Lawless? Beautifully shot movie with great acting, but a s*** script. There was a good story there, but they couldn't find it. Very true. In general I liked it and didn't feel like I wasted two hours, but it was a little too...hokey.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) Jimmy Butlers shirt... Well duh, they're the three most important things in life.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) It isn't like it is difficult to avoid getting into trouble while still going out, drinking and having a good time. Plenty of athletes and college students do it. Also true. Not fighting with the bouncer is a good place to start. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) That is nice but it's just a fig leaf very often. (Someone criticizing the Patriot Act would say the same thing) Oh I don't deny that. I just meant that "reasonable [and] articulable suspicion" is an actual term of art (some would say standard, lesser than but similar to probable cause) that's needed for stop and frisks.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) I read this and thought "I can't tell which one is supposed to have the reasonable suspicion and which one is supposed to have nothing at all". Is that defending the patriot act or stop and frisk? I literally cannot tell. For stop and frisks, the cop still has to have a "reasonable articulable suspicion" that a crime has been/is being/or will be committed.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) I just dont get kids that are fine tuned athletes drinking. I would stay in and enjoy my path to millions. Part of me says that "They're still college kids" but I hope I would've been smarter in college if I had a full ride and possibly millions in my future. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Actually for harming a bouncer. What a moron I don't get why college athletes drink, wait till you are a millionaire. Urban also booted a freshman OL from Indiana. You're right, that's what he was arrested for. But the only reason he hit the bouncer in the first place was because he had been removed by bouncers for trying to start a bar fight. Morons. -

Apparently Roby got arrested in Bloomington for trying to start a bar fight. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) Just watched the 3rd episode of Ray Donovan. I still don't really understand what is going on. It seems like there is no real story line, just a bunch of things thrown together. Yeah, thrown together is a good way to put it. I'm still enjoying it though, so I'll stick with it. First two episodes of this season of the Newsroom have been great. And how about that ending to True Blood?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Stop-and-frisk is a creation of the NYPD. Talking about "political will" and Democrats and liberals is a bunch of irrelevant nonsense. The specifically known "stop and frisk" program is NYPD, but Terry stops happen everywhere. And a police officer can search for weapons (if there's a reasonable articulable susupicion) after initiating a Terry stop, in which case it pretty much is a stop and frisk.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) "political will" is sort of a irrelevant here. It was a policy enacted in NYC by NYC. It has nothing to do with Washington Democrats. NYPD can end this terrible policy at any time. I thought we were talking on a broader scale, not just NYPD. It's not like Terry stops are only found in NYC.
