  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) IU plays Indiana Wesleyan coming up. That ought to be about as close as the cross country meet I ran against a guy who ran in the Olympics... I sure hope so. Can't watch it (don't want to pay for just one game), but I might listen to Don Fischer's call. People always talk about how great he is, but I've never listened to him because I've either been going to the games (and watching the away ones) as a student, or watching them after I graduated.
  2. I think it's hilarious that halfway through Big Ten play, Indiana still technically controls its own destiny in getting to the conference championship game. I say "technically" because I in no way expect it to actually happen, but it's funny that it's even a possibility at all.
  3. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) Bulls***, if it wasn't your program you wouldn't rationalize it that way.... these are kids and this adult is promising them a future and than ripping it away because he overloaded it is 100% disgusting act. But, college athletics is full of people that do much worse things to get ahead sadly and kids and honest schools suffer from it. I figured that would be the quick defensive mechanism, regardless of its validity. The only way I have a problem with it is if Crean actively lies to the kids and says "Oh no don't worry, Austin Etherington and Remy Abell are going to transfer after this year, it's all good" or some other such garbage*, and it turns out it's not true and the kid relied on that in committing. Other than that, no, I can't really imagine the scenario. *And Crean could be doing this already for all I know; I obviously hope not, but hard to know for sure.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) How many schollies is IU allowed to have? More than every other team it seems. Looks like, as it stands today, we would be 2 players over the limit next year if all the 2013 commits sign and no one were to leave early. Obviously, there's about a 98% chance Zeller is gone, so that just leaves 1. Granted, this assumes no more 2013 commits, and it sounds like Anya is a huge IU lean. Who knows. Here's my take on the "Creaning" thing: I'm not particularly fond of it, but I also don't see a problem with it if these kids know what they're getting into. At the age of 17-18, these kids should be smart enough to say "Wow, this team already has too many commits, I'm not sure how I'll fit in." It's a little harder for the ones who commit early but are pushed out by later recruits, but they still haven't signed the LOI yet and can look other places, too.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) You hate how the out of bounds line is considered out of bounds? Yeah I don't understand this one. It was a great catch, but he didn't come down entirely in bounds. Them's the rules.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 28, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) We may never get to what I just outlined in our lifetimes (f*** us all if that's the case), but there's no good reason we shouldn't have those as expectations, at minimum, and hold them to that standard. I really don't think it's asking for that much. It's not. I feel the same way about Indiana.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) Wisconsin's (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) starting PG Gasser is out for the season with a torn ACL. He's Wisconsin's starting 2-guard that's point guard sized, I think.
  8. I had a dream the other night that Illinois won pretty easily. I actually think Indiana is the slightly better team, but that might be my bias. Doesn't really matter, since both teams are terrible.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) I love you if for no other reason than the expressions you use! "Pump a fat bird" is pretty solid.
  10. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) I really have no idea and I've come to realize there's no use fretting about it. The staff will figure it out. It could get even worse, as I know they are still going to pursue Vonleh (and they actually are perceived to be the leader along with 'Cuse). We'd have the 3 seniors and Zeller gone which will cover the first four commits... After that, everyones guessing. But I'd guess Creek won't be back as his GF just had a kid. Oladipo/Sheehey have both jumped on the NBA radar. If IU has a great year, I see Oladipo leaving because of the following years draft class being so ridiculously stacked. Also, with as much talent as IU currently has, someone is bound to be unhappy with playing time. We shall see. I do know Zeller was ready to pay his own way this year if Patterson would have not had his incident. Zeller is living off campus with Luke and his wife. I gotta think Etherington would want out. I mean, I get he's really the one who really started all the recruiting momentum, but he's a good player that's just absolutely buried on the depth chart. He could be on a Penn State-like team and probably be the best player.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) No doubt. It's really taking off. Sun King is great. Triton too. The up and comer Flat 12 is also turning some heads. Then you have Upland in Bloomington that is fantastic. 3 Floyds in Munster. Peoples... could go on forever. Craft beer in Indiana is huge. Not only do they make some killer beers, but Upland was my favorite restaurant in Bloomington, too. Great bison burger.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 07:33 AM) 16 oz of cherries in a 12 oz bottle? That one might be in one of the bigger bottles New Glarus does.
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Oh hey, Illinois might actually win a Big Ten football game this weekend! This will be so painful to watch.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) That would be a sweet kick in the nuts to Kentucky. That it would be. I forgot to mention (though it says so at the link) the Louisville AD mentioned the home-and-home for basketball AND football. That's why I really like it. I want to add a frequent non-conference opponent that isn't Ball State, and Louisville seems like a solid choice.

  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) I'm surprised people complained about the O-Line today, besides the Suh sack they did a relatively good job and that is against a very good Detroit D-Line. Particularly impressed by Jamarcus Webb, he was solid all night and I remember him being decimated by Detroit last season. Webb looked good but Carimi looked awful.
  17. Louisville AD floats idea of a Louisville/IU home-and-home. I like.
  18. Finally, a very scientific study says IU has the hottest women in the country.

Also, check out Hops & Grain based in Austin, TX. They only opened a little over a year ago, but already won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup for their German style Alt.

As for the local brews, Surly's Oktoberfest is pretty good. Summit's is decent. Furthermore Brewing Co in Wisconsin makes this beer called Fatty Boombalatty -- it's a 7.2% Belgian wheat. Pretty tasty.
  21. The worst was a few months ago when I reminded of how terrible a really bad red wine hangover is. Blech.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) Not even a single vote. Thanks again Bruce Weber! Look at that bright side. Vitale named Brandon Paul a Preseason 4th team All-American.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) I also preferred his private answer, which is probably a bunch of BS but would have been better than his actual response to the question: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-w...e6a4b_blog.html Agree with NSS here. Seems pretty plausible.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) Doesnt matter anyway. Why do we think these people will magically change anything that they say they are. Obama's has alot of his policies blocked for his term and so will Romney if he wins. That's why what you really need most from a president is leadership. Obama was sorely lacking in that the past four years. But Romney just does absolutely nothing to inspire any sort of confidence in his leadership.
