I still am not sure how "North American Energy Independence" and "Opening Trade in Latin America" can legitimately be back to back.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) I'm so confused with the story. Did he post pictures? Or did he just create those subforums for other people to post on them? I mean, being a dick online is no crime. Unless he was doing something criminal, I find it bulls*** that Gawker published his identity and that he lost his job over this. Both, I think. At the very least, I remember from the Gawker article that he either created or moderated a bunch of the ones like that mentioned -- just creepy stuff. The most disturbing was "deadjailbait" or something...which was pictures of scantily clad dead teens. Basically, he would post some of his own, and then also moderate the content to make sure nothing technically illegal (ie, child nudity/pornography) showed up.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) North Dakotans are so stupid. Thankfully, I'm from South Dakota, where people are 5% smarter, and just so happen to live in North Dakota. Going to school in Minneapolis, I've met more people from Fargo than I ever I imagined I would. And that means about 4 people.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 16, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) Van Alden turning to O'Banion is definitely the high point of that episode. And I don't think you can really blame Rosetti for missing Bugsy that much, considering the circumstances. In fact, I think he's the one who hit his own guy (the one that was still alive at the end). In terms of advancing the storyline, yes. But just for raw "best scene" value, nothing topped Rosetti storming naked through the house covered in blood with a belt around his neck. That was just absurd. I'm getting tired of the Billie Kent storyline, too. I agree that Nucky might end up killing her, or someone else might. Either way, she's dead at some point this season.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) Oh stop it. You clearly consider anyone not holding pom-poms 24/7 to be a bad fan. You also think Luol Deng is God's gift to basketball when he's barely above average, especially with one arm. These things irk me and make me doubt your critical thinking ability. Oh come on now, that's a little harsh. Not saying the dude is an all star, but give him a little credit.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) Oh ok, that Mellon guy. I didn't fully understand what was happening in those scenes. It seemed like they were discussing whether or not prohibition was/is a fiscally responsible amendment and deciding on whether to appeal it or not? And I assume that all the bootlegging people want to keep it a law, so they can continue to make bank off it illegally? Or is that not close? Not quite. Mellon is the secretary of the treasury, which is the department tasked with enforcing prohibition. The issue is basically "Why aren't there more bootleggers getting put in prison?" The senate committee (and the guy in the middle was Senator Walter Edge from New Jersey's, Nucky's former friend) was questioning Mellon about this, he told them to compare arrests with convictions, and that problem wasn't with the Treasury, but the Department of Justice. The implication there is that the DoJ is very corrupt, none moreso than the Attorney General himself, Harry Dougherty. Dougherty is Nucky's most powerful friend in DC, and it could be bad for Nucky if he comes under scrutiny. That's what that Means guy (the one with the southern accent played by Stephen Root) found so interesting -- he knows s*** could hit the fan.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Refs in the ND-Stanford game were PAC-12 officials. Whining about the refs is for losers. You know it's ok to admit your team got a break, right? No one will think less of you. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) Looks like I may be going down to Bloomington aka Columbus West You've been down there before, I assume? And the one time Ohio State played at Indiana when I was there (2010 I think) there were so many Ohio State fans it was absurd. It's not like IU football is a hard ticket to get. The rumor is that whenever IU wants to take an aerial picture of the football stadium they do it when we play Ohio State, because it is the only time the stadium will be full and everyone will be in red. I have no idea if it's true or not, but it's definitely plausible. As for the game tonight, I'm obviously not expecting to win. If we can put together an entire game and keep it competitive, that will keep me from getting upset. I also want to see them play with some chippiness; you'd think the way we blew the game last week would give them some motivation. If we had Roberson still, I'd say our chances of winning would be about 10-15%. Now, they're at about 3%. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) Plus it's a pretty good song so long as you don't hate the f***ing Eagles man. Just don't be out of your element, Donnie.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) Yeah, it all made sense in the end, because they were definitely setting up for a "come work for me" type situation. Yeah they did a good job of keeping you guessing which way it would go. About 2/3 of the way through I had a feeling he was dead, and then once he took out the cigarettes, he was toast. I honestly don't think even Nucky knew he was going to kill him until he pulled out cigarettes and felt lied to. That's what I got from the scene, anyway.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Those scenes with the kid in the house. Took so long, I felt myself looking at my phone a lot more than during Dexter or Homeland. Agree to disagree, I guess. Boardwalk just continues to nail it. I was kinda disappointed in Season 2 as a whole, really. It finished well, but started poorly, I thought. They've just been bringing it this year.

QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) So this is nice... The attorneys in my office are union because we work for government. This year, everyone was forced into 15 furlough days in lieu of layoffs. Back in July the union filed a grievance over the furloughs for lost wages this year (and stand a good chance of winning). I got hired in September and have been working for two weeks. I've had nothing to do with any of these actions. Nevertheless, if the union wins the arbitration and gets back pay, guess who will be laid off to cover the expenses? Me. So after months of unemployment and struggling to get my career in order, I land a job I really like, and 2 weeks in, I have to worry about this crap. And of course, the old people with secured pensions don't give a s*** because seniority is all that matters. Wow, that blows dude. Sorry.

There isn't anything more to this than the normal "If he's still here, Hahn will take over when Kenny leaves" is there?

Romney was definitely more charismatic, but I didn't really feel like he "won" so much as Obama didn't even show up. Romney didn't really say anything, he was just more confident about saying nothing of substance.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Our interviews are almost entirely based on nonsensical questions like that. I'm guessing they are the typical "STAR" questions?

Boardwalk nails it again. Bobby Cannavale has been brilliant. They keep this up, there are Emmys in the future. Homeland with a solid premiere. Not gonna lie though, Carrie can annoy me sometimes.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Yeah, go to Corky's and then to the bars... But it is like living on the surface of the sun in the summer...and this is coming from the dude living in the middle of a desert... I'm not sure I want to imagine living in Las Vegas or Phoenix. Granted, I've never really been anywhere that doesn't have humidity (ie, never been out west at all).

I really, really like Montie as an analyst. Some technical issues, maybe, but overall I like listening to him.

IU coming back against Northwestern. They were down 27-0 in the 3rd quarter, now down 37-29 with 14:06 left in the 4th. I'd feel better about this, but I think everyone makes a 2nd half comeback against Northwestern. I'm happy he subbed in Sudfeld, he's had some great deep balls today.
