Official 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
farmteam replied to knightni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I might be the only IU football fan here (except for Balta, maybe), but anyway... Cam Coffman starting for Indiana tomorrow. Nate Sudfeld looked real, real good in the 4th quarter two weeks ago after Coffman got injured, and Sudfeld is generally thought to have the better talent (he was pretty highly recruited out of Modesto, CA). But, Coffman was #2 on the depth chart when Roberson went down (which is terrible, he was so fun to watch. One of those small but real athletic quarterbacks), so Wilson is sticking with that. Coffman didn't do too terribly before he got dinged up (hip pointer), but I really do think Sudfeld might be the better option right now, even though he's a true freshman. I mean, Coffman isn't very familiar with the system either, it's first year at IU after spending last year at a junior college. Coffman did participate in spring practice though, and Sudfeld did not. One thing's for sure, Indiana needs to get at least two quarterbacks in this class, just to have a few bodies there. Coffman and Sudfeld are the only non-walkons right now. I think our offense can do well against Northwestern. As usual, it's the defense I'm worried about. The defensive line really has to control the line of scrimmage, Black and Replogle especially. I always like playing Northwestern, as there my second favorite Big Ten team. Also, I know one of the kids that starts on their offensive line, so it's cool to see him on TV. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) This campaign season has been, if anything, more petty than previous years. But not dirtier. I agree with this sentiment.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) In the North Shore, people ignore everything and just say, its not my kid. Don't even get me started. I'm sure NSS72 can speak to it as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) I lived in Memphis for about 3.5 years. Crime rate dwarfs that of Chicago, schools are awful, the neighborhoods are more segregated than any I've seen in any other American city, and the summers are horribly muggy. I've heard that Memphis has more palpable racial tensions than anywhere else in the country. Never been there, but I want to visit just for the BBQ and music.

St. Paul ahead of Minneapolis? Silly.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 06:53 AM) Everytime I listen to the first Them Crooked Vultures CD, it leaves me impatient for anything new from them. I wish JPJ would hurry up with his side project, before Grohl and Homme put anything else out, so we may finally get the opportunity to hear new TCV music. Them at the Aragon was the best show I've ever seen, bar none.

QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Havana Club + lemonade = Nectar of the Gods. Time for another, as Paulie knocks the sh#te out of that to make it a one run game. And then you needed another to drown your post-game sorrows.

Wasn't sure where else to put this: Brazilian Judges Orders Arrest of Google Brazil President, 24-Hour Suspension of Google and YouTube

2h Tom Crabtree @TCrabtree83 Imagine you make a painting. It isn't perfect by others' standards, but it's your painting. You are proud. Then someone takes a s*** on it.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:38 PM) Okay so this is getting really odd: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,7992995.story Lawyers posting facebook attacks amongst co-counsel? If Peterson is really that clever, could this be all to set up the ineffective counsel argument against Brodsky and hope that is grounds for a re-trial? Just strange. How high is standard for ineffective counsel? I know a 6th amendment right-to-counsel claim is really tough to succeed in.

Boardwalk is just killing it so far this year.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 06:24 AM) I think we have a better shot at getting Dwayne Wade to suit back up for Crean. There were a lot of factors and influences in Trey Lyles de-commiting from Indiana, JaQuan being one of them. JaQuan and Trey are signed, sealed, and delivered to UK. I'd take Wade suiting up for a year. ... And so would everyone else.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 07:38 AM) Sigh, how much longer until the season. Looking at the Saluki roster gets me so excited..... Sarcasm, or are they actually supposed to be good this year? Not messing with you, I really have no idea.

The recruit I want the most is Jaquan Lyle in 2014.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Ah yes, now I remember that guy. Williams was the one I thought was UNC bound. I know Williams committed somewhere else at first, it might have been North Carolina. As of right now I feel good about IU's chances with Anya, but would in no way consider him a lock or anything and wouldn't be surprised if he ends up somewhere else. Not as sure on Williams, that stuff has come on more recently.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) I think Romney scares anyone that isn't a complete GOP kool aid drinking nutbar. But it doesn't make me like Obama any more. Pretty much sums up my feelings on the entire election.

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) Mustaches are kind of pedophile-ish on white men. Not sure why. That being said, whoever grows 'em should post 'em in this thread. Unless you are Tom Selleck.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) I thought his statement of 4 years seemed off, but I didn't care to look up the facts. Thanks, because your data aligns with what my brain interpreted. My bad. They kept saying 1923 in the show, so I kept thinking that meant it's about to be 1924. Also, I was going off of some Terence Winter interview that said they jumped forward in time, and I just completely misremembered the timeframe.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) No, not really. I know Bush loved America, I just thought he was a dumbass when it came to politics. I still think he'd be a great MLB Commissioner. Two thoughts come to mind. Thought 1: Thought 2: Well, he'd be better than Selig.

Great debut for Boardwalk. Way better than last year's premiere, I think. Did a great job tying things up, reminding us of some things, and setting stuff up for the season, all at the same time. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) Boardwalk Empire S3 debut was solid tonight. I am totally forgetting why Van Alden goes by George something now. Did he change his name to avoid prosecution? Also, did Nucky really find out about Margaret giving all his land rights money away to the Children's Hospital and NOT flip out about it? Or is him banging that chick at the end of the episode his way of saying he is done with Maraget as a wife? During the fight right before he went and boned the singer, Margaret alluded to how Nucky spends his nights with other women. I'd guess it's been going on for awhile now -- remember, we did jump forward almost four years in time. I like the introduction of O'Banion, especially since it appears Van Alden could begin working for him.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) I might pitch Wise ahead of Septimo. Most definitely. I cannot stand Septimo.

You all probably saw me last night. We were in the first row behind the Sox dugout, and judging from the number of texts/calls I got, we got quite a bit of screen time. Makes sense, since we were in the seats that are on TV every time there is a right handed batter.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) Did you just call teachers a "Wealthy entitlement class"? Yeah I was trying to figure that one out.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) But I also think this is partly a function of where they teach. I went through some very highly considered schools as a kid, and it may not be a good sample of the whole. I was going to point this out about your earlier post. You and I were very, very lucky in where we went to high school.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) Lauren Shehadi is gorgeous. Rizzo's got the T, Shehadi has the A and the legs and the hair and the honey sweet voice and those eyes... Lauren Shehadi is decent, but not a fan of her face at all.
