  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) I guess I'm not allowed to defend myself. I was responding to a post that says I have no inside information, that few of my posts "make sense." Marty, I may not always agree with you but I respect that you have a right to post things that you hear and what you think. It makes for some fun stuff. Keep it up
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 03:21 AM) He's right sometimes, he's wrong sometimes. He's in a position to know the relationship between Hahn and Guillen when Guillen was here. The scenario is not that crazy. Maybe Ozzie brings Buerhle back with him? If it happens it wouldn't be the worse thing that the Sox could do. But, in baseball things change pretty quick
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:16 AM) You can say that about almost everyone Can't argue with that for sure. That's why one should not get to excited about them. Unless they are all bad all the time LOL
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:14 AM) 2 outs away from being legitimately in this thing again. Yep. Never give up till it's over
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:13 AM) LOL WHAT? Did you completely ignore those numbers I posted? numbers are easily inflated from one bad game
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:12 AM) He has? You must have short memories. Oh yeah I forgot we are Sox fans. It is what did you do for me the last half inning?
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:11 AM) He's been the most consistent hitter on the team. I'd deal Konerko and Dunn before Rios. Why trade him if his contract is no longer a burden? He's been a good RF. Plus Manto has done wonders for this guy. I agree. If Rios has found it as this year suggests we have a jewel on this team
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) Matt Thornton is a mental midget. I'm sure as soon as the Tigers game went final he was thinking don't put me in. Wrong. Support your team Marty. Matt has come through many many times when needed
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) Would Ventura make a good broadcaster Kidding, I really hope it's not DJ. I wonder if Ozzie will be looking for a job?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) So instead your stars get to the end of September, and they are the ones who are hitting .150 because they are hurt and/or tired. A strong bench and playing them to give your reegulars a day off from time to time is important. I think this has been mentioned before too. Robin stuck with his regular starters most of the time. The bench seemed to be role players: pinch run or a late inning defensive sub usually
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) So I noticed we are up to 4694 registered members at Soxtalk. I thought it might be interesting to throw a contest out there to see who could guess the date that we register member #5000. Guess a date in this thread. Winner receives absolutely nothing but some half-hearted congratulations from fellow Soxtalkers. It seems crazy thinking back to the early days that we could be looking at having 5000 people who have signed up for this site. Then again, it is going on 9 years old now. Also we haven't really done this in a long time, but if you have a friend that you think might enjoy the site, go ahead and pass it on to them. We could always use the new blood and fresh opinions. Also you can join the Soxtalk facebook page, which is kind of our backup plan for whenver Soxtalk crashes, which thankfully isn't as often as it used to be. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/gr...gid=27284358753 Nine years now. Seems like just yesterday. I will see if I can convert some guys to be Sox fans
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) At the end of the day, I think the Sox biggest lead all year long was 3.5 games. Unless you lose it in the last four or so games of the season, it is hard to call it the biggest in history. I agree and it ain't over yet
  13. 1967. We were in the Great Penant Race and had five games to end the season against the KC Athletics and the Washington Senators with our best pitchers going. All the baseball experts thought the Sox were going to pull it outas those two teams were poor second diovisdion teamd. We blew it
  14. I am still on board with this team but the train is leaving the station
  15. Two games out after last night and even though Jake pitched one heckuva of a game the offense couldn't produce again. I don't understand the choking by these guys. After all when you play little league ball everything about scoring looks so easy. The team collapse is a collective one. I still don't want to give up but that knife is close to the heart right now
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Man, some of you are good fans. Not me, not this year for reasons I've written enough times to make u all puke. Don't fold on me Greg
  17. It ain't over to it's over. It ain't over till the fat lady sings. Keep that in mind Sox fans
  18. Seems that MLBN might be showing the Sox game vrs the Rays tonight. Possibly all the good vibes we send them might help the Chisox
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 05:06 AM) July 24 to yesterday ... Sox had first place. Late September, it's vanished finally. First place. It was fun to know ya. It has been painful, but let's think positive and get it back. Maybe we play better against the better teams
  20. QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) I still think there's a hot streak coming, but a loss tonight and a DET win would be tough to swallow. I'll buy nto the hot streak
