  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 12:57 AM) In the midst of the false accusations, I think now is as good a time as any to have a nice AJ appreciation thread. AJ has been an above average player for this club for a long time and he's having a hell of a year in what has been one of the funnest seasons to date that I can remember. AJ helped bring this club its 1st championship in a long time and here's to hoping he helps bring a 2nd world series championship to Chicago this year!!!! Yes sir. And here is hoping we sign him again
  2. Monday at 6 PM MDT we have the Sox and Tigers on MLB-Network. But after that we have alot of Yankees and Red SUX
  3. Possibly a win Saturday and again Sunday might make us feel better?
  4. Let's strive to make it two in a row
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) I think balta makes a great point. We know Kenny was in Detroit this past weekend, and I'm sure he talked with the coaching staff. If he kept telling them to challenge Cabrera defensively and then the coaches didn't get that point across to the players, then maybe he felt this was the best way to get his point across. I think they call it sportsmanship. But, that really is lacking in MLB as it's all about winning. I feel strongly both ways about it
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:26 AM) Only thing missing that inning was Mackowiak letting a fly ball go over his head. It sounds as if it was as bad as it can get if we bring up the Mack...
  7. Just checked in to see that Quintana checked out. 7 runs allowed in one inning between him & Axelrod. Wow
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:11 AM) Point of KW telling the media this? I am wondering if it isn't to show he is the boss. That is something he couldn't do when Ozzie was here
  9. Reading all that stuff is worth it as long as we win tonite LOL
  10. Tonight I go with Adam Dunn-The Big Donkey. I have a feeling
  11. What I find kind of amazing is that our 5th starters and throw ins at that are the only ones with wins over the last week or so. What soes that say about the rotation? Tired arms or just bad luck? Regardless I wouldn't see it as a bad thing if both Axelrod and Santiago go again and then set up the usual suspects to face Detroit with an extra day or so of rest
  12. I think it is his wrist. Heal aftewr the season and he will be back bashing it consistently in 2013
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) I'm going and looking for Marty. I want free beer. My wife won't let me go... something about airfafre, hotel, meals, etc But, someday soon IO hope. Meantime you guys go and cheer extra hard. Make Marty buy
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Peter Gammons -key to the rest of the season is Sale and Cy so long ago Peavy. The latter needs to step up and shut up. I don't disagree with this statement. It's one thing for Jake to talk to himself during a game for motivation, but when he chimes in about how he is looking forward to pitching the big game and then blows it that's a different story
  15. Santiago auditioning for a starting role in 2013. Hope it is a good solid win.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 07:17 AM) Isn't this his first full season? He's barely 23, right? If he was absolutely struggling at 26 or 27, I'd see your point. But, in my opinion, he's just getting familiar with MLB pitching this year. He's bound to improve with his skill set. I see greg's point here as well as knightni's. The issue with Viciedo is indeed perplexing. Ramirez made it to the bigs and performed right away. It has taken Viciedo something like 3-4 years. I think he is enamored with the home run and that's what I see wrong right now. I think that hared long swing he is taking trying to hit every ball amile is the problem. He needs to cut down on the swing and make contact more up the middle and to right. He can do it and looks pretty good when he tries that approach, but usually it's hard and harder with his swings and he wants to pull everything. A bit more major league experience can help. He is young, can learn through good coaching and I think worth keeping.
  17. You have to take each game and each series at hand first. We may have lost three games to the Tigers in Detroit but bpottom ;line is we are tied and not out of first place. The last seven games have been very upsetting. No offense, getting dominated by other teams pitching, our pitching not on par with a winning team mentality except for Axelrod, etc We need to win starting tonite and that's where the concentration needs to be.
  18. All year long the elephants feared the mice. Well, they can have it all to themselves with a sigh of relief.... There's only one thing I wanted outside of winning it -- make every one of them sweat until the last minute.
