  1. Ladies and Gentleman I implore you: I am just a man. I am one man standing before numerous men of somewhat dubious and questionable experience and knowledge, but they can't be blamed for their stands on issues no matter how wierd they may be
  2. I thought we were going young
  3. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Interesting. I Googled the news from back then and found this: Ozzie Guillen is back with the Chicago White Sox, this time as the team’s manager. The three-time All-Star shortstop was hired Monday to replace Jerry Manuel, who was fired Sept. 29 after the White Sox failed to reach the playoffs for the second straight year. Guillen has no managerial experience and has spent the past two seasons as the third-base coach for the Florida Marlins. But he made it clear how badly he wanted this job, and his passion won over general manager Kenny Williams and owner Jerry Reinsdorf. Former Toronto manager Cito Gaston was thought to be the initial favorite for the job. Williams played for him, and he led the Blue Jays to World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. But in the end, the White Sox went with one of their own. I thought the part I bolded was very interesting, considering our recent history. The plot thickens! I think folks may have forgotten the Sox wanting to "Go with their Own" and develop that Sox pride. That still might come into play with Reinsdorf when considering Ozzie and KW both for 2012 and beyond. Look at the coaching staff also when thinking of the direction given by Reinsdorf and then quoted by KW. Was that decision a failure? Not necessarily but there were some bad personnel moves and even worse direction given on how to pursure players and how much they were willing to pay out. Not many, including me, were upset about Jerry opening the purse strings.
  4. If this phenom Logan Morrison is rumored to be the Sox target in exchange for talking to Ozzie - he seems to have struggled the last couple years. Was he hurt this year? He didn't have much in the way of stats
  5. Hope Mark is sharp tonite and we win. Cause winning is better than losing
  6. We don't need to get in to a discussion of retaliation and beanball wars. Wild pitches by youthful rookies is the issue. I don't think you are going to hear a lot of chipping of teeth by the Sox or any team on a matter like this. If the coaching staff collectively feel it needs to be done they will plunk the opposing team as needed and won't be signaling their intentions to the media.
  7. Flowers has got to learn how to hit big league pitching. Maybe he and Dunn can work out together this winter. Otherwise that bat is going to keep him as a back up catcher
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) Escobar can still benefit from another year at AAA Good point. I seem to have read that Mr Rogers thinks Escobar gives the team more flexibility, but I woud really prefer the veteran presence of Omar on the team for at least one more year anyway. He is still pretty darn good with the leather
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 01:15 AM) Just lose baby. By the way, playing Omar over Escobar is just silly Be interesting to see if they bring back Omar or they make Escobar the platoon infielder in his spot. Omar will play somewhere I am sure
  10. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) Steve Stone just said that Adam Dunn could win the comeback player of the year just by "coming back". By the way, I'm not sure if Hawk has said it before, but the "Dunn is going to work hard and come back strong" talk from him just popped up last inning. I'm waiting for the first story in January about Dunn "hitting off a tee" That and the beginning of ST will be all positive and syrupy sweet about how he is ready to bang out the homers again, etc
  11. Things ain't looking good right now for Axelrod. Indians with a run in and bases full and no out
  12. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) Is Axelrod someone I should be excited about? You know I am not certain. This is only his second game with the Sox. He did pretty fair in his first satrt, but until there is some positive history it's always a crap shoot in my opinion. Look at Stewart. Had a fanatstic one hitter, but really has been mediocre in his other starts
  13. Please answer me the question "can Juan Pierre steal a base anymore." Thrown out Sunday and again tonight after leading off with a hit
  14. Morel k's-not clutch. I think I said clutch not choke, but regardless we lost
  15. De Aza follows with a pop up out in foul territory caught by thirdbaseman. Not clutch
  16. Top of the ninth Sox trail 4-3. We need some clutch hitting here
  17. Where are our three homers? All the Indians runs on homers. Frustrating
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) 2 doubles in 1 day for Dunn, now 6 for his last 22. Regardless of the way the season has gone you have to be happy for the guy and hope he can come back strong in 2012. Comeback Player of the Year maybe?
  19. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) ya know...since we're stuck with him...you can only hope he goes on a mini-tear to end the season and instill just a tad of confidence going into the offseason. That's it for sire. I am betting he isn't going anywhere over the off season tradewise so this season had better be an eye opener for him
  20. Adam Dunn is now turning it around with a dozen games left. What was the blunder by De Aza? How did that happen? All I have is gameday and mad because I know it's on WGN
  21. singles and two doubles and one homer isn't real impressive numbers so far. But, expereince could pay off in 2012. I just don't think CQ being traded is going to help. I think an OF of CQ-De Aza and Viciedo is a good one, but Rios may be in that mix too with De Aza the 4th OF'er
