QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) No. The sample size is still rather miniscule. What would we be advocating then as far as an OF next year? Albatross contracts are weighing us down apparently and some folks don't think we can unload them. Pierre most likely is gone so maybe Rios stays? Even though I think he should be gone. Viciedo-Rios-Quentin with De Aza the sub?

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) De Aza should be playing instead of AJP in order to see if he has any chance of being more than a platoon player. I do predict Viciedo homers tonight, maybe even twice. I think he has shown his stuff don't you really? Vicideo-De Aza and Quentin

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) It's obvious Quentin isn't healthy yet. They probably activated him to try and help his trade value this offseason, but they soon realized he couldn't swing the bat without pain yet. You are being way to critical and reading too much into it. Quentin is still not 100% that's all. He has performed better than a number of our players and hopefully remains with the Sox next year.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Perfect. They've given it their all this year. It just wasn't in the cards. We have to remember that they're people, just like us. They have emotions and feel the sting of failure on a greater level than we ever could. An extra $10,000 is nice and all, but a physical symbol of their effort and heart would really help. I say we all chip in and get them all a nice trophy and/or ribbon each. It's the least we can do after not coming out in full support this season and crushing their already broken souls into smaller pieces with our boos. Hell, if we want to get literal, this is our fault. We owe it to them. Ok then

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) At least we can stop having threads about how we need to fix the 2013 rotation, right? 2013 rotation? Some have claimed we need to fix 2012

Just play hard the rest of the way and have some pride, dignity and respect for each other and the game. I hope they do

Well oh well. The ending is just how we started

Viciedo in a slump? Lot's of ground ball outs

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) Pk with 100 Ribbies... Now hit #30 and make it a nice round year. After that, give him the rest of the year off and get the kids in there. He deserves 30/100/.300 plus for sure

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) I have no problem with Dunn not playing for the rest of this season. I would have no problem with him being elsewhere in 2012, but probably not going to happen

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) Let's do this! Thanks Milk. I don't know how to do game threads so I am glad you did it

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) One way or another, we needed at least one big LH bat that was provided in the past by Thome and not so much by the likes of Borchard or Swisher...Viciedo has a lot more to do with Quentin's eventual destination this offeason (trade or stay) than anything with Dunn. He gives a lot more value playing a competent RF than DH/1B. Of course, the best scenario would have been him sticking at 3B defensively. And if so that is because KW painted the team into a corner with spending big bucks on Dunn when we had an option. Peavy just might be another example. I don't begrudge him for being aggressive but it seems when he has his eye set on someone he won't stop trying to get that player even if it takes a long time. Being aggressive is one thing but it does sometimes come back to bite you.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) The Sox have been officially eliminated from playoff contention. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Tell me it ain't so Joe
-
I don't read anything into the article other than Ozzie is disappointed in the season. He should be and so should KW. Keep in mind that Ozzie has a 2012 contract with the Sox so nothing is for sure here. Obviously could happen and there might be a lot of changes. Just have to wait and see was really happens. Speculation leads to lots of new topic posts though. Keeps us going I guess as we wait for 2012 and hopefully a better outcome

Who can forget his 2005 World Series plays? Joe Crede was a real good player

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) When Jerry Manuel was fired, was he a "scapegoat" as well? Or did he deserve it? Does any manager that ever gets fired actually deserve it in your eyes, or are they all just scapegoats because no manager can be that big of a difference maker? If you can't even admit that Ozzie fully deserves to be fired at this point, and not just that he's a scapegoat, I truly believe that you are nothing more than a fanboy of his. Are you trying to make a point here or something? I do like Ozzie Guillen. I think back on the days of Jerry Manuel and I think in his case he lost the team

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) That's how bad things are for this organization. A byproduct of Williams' gambles. All of a sudden, you look up and say "wow, that pitching staff is on course to be a mess." We sure had the living stuffins beat out of us by Detroit in the last two meetings and of course got swept in the last series, but overall I don't think it's really the pitching staff as a whole to blame. Are you doing a knee jerk reaction because of the last two beat downs or the fact both Buerhle and Danks seemed to have crashed? Maybe that 6 man rotation was a good thing?

Reading Jim's article makes you believe he must be a psychologist. There is just so much any coach or manager can do. But, we all know there will be changes a coming this off season. Deserved or not there will be scapegoats and changes made
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Carlos Quentin is back, but you'd never know it. You know who needs playing time? Alex Rios. I would have preferred the CQ man in the line up
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) If this pitching staff does not get retooled this offseason with every possible resource available the White Sox will be in a lot of trouble going forward. Every tradable asset needs to go in order to fortify the staff for next year and beyond. If our pitching isn't at defcon 1 right now, it soon will be if action isn't taken. So now it's the pitching staff?
