Saturday, 9/10, Peace Offering Beers of World
elrockinMT replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Marty maybe in 2012 you could wait for me to get to Chitown for a Sox series? I will let you know when I have my vacation plans scheduled -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) I don't know about more than adequate. He definitely hustles out there, but often times it's because he got a bad read or stepped the wrong way. I like CQ, too. But I also see him getting to be quite expensive. Of course, I'd like to see Rios go away and have an OF of Viciedo, De Aza, and Quentin. However, since Rios is not going anywhere... I would not mind that kind of an OF either. I supose there has been bigger surprises than a Sox trade of Rios being made.
-
I understand the Florida deal, but I am betting Ozzie stays and gets a contract extension. We here probably know as much about Ozzie's situation than Ken Rosenthal and it's all speculation right now IMO
-
Good to have the CQ back. Hope he is with us next year. My book on him is an all out hustler 30 homers 100 RBI kind of guy and more than adequate in the OF.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Yeah, KW really blew it by not bringing Bobby back this year. He's been great for Boston. They had a steal. Theo Epstein is a genius. Good one

May I ask the mods to move this into the category of the game post for Monday? Series versus the Tigers and here's hoping this team can go out like champs.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) The Fox game is on in Saint Louis today, which seems rare. Didn't get it here. Tired of watching the Phllies

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Yes, by all means he is a keeper. Lest we forget, out payroll stuation gives us few options. Moreover, we have gotten burned more by being impatient with prospects recently (Allen, Gonzalez, Hudson, Young) than being too patient (Beckham). In order to be successful, you have to develop somebody, even if it takes some time. I have to agree here. Developing your own seems to be something we missed. It seems we just used our farm teams as trade fodder. Worked sometimes I guess, but after awhile we got priced out of the market and took on some questionable contracts and gave a lot of money to some who just haven't produced

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) I tuned in for that inning alone, pretty much. He got ahead of the guys who got hits as well, but they started punching the ball past people. Chisenhall had a broken bat single that feel in front of De Aza, then there was a grounder punched past Alexei, another hit thrown in there (I think almost all of these happened with 2 strikes), and then he hung a breaking ball out over the plate with 2 strikes for a big 2 run double. He made one bad mistake, but had some trouble putting guys away before that. Am I wrong is saying that that has been a problem for a number of Sox pitchers this year? Maybe it's the learning curve though -
Hope he can contribute next season. He has shown some great performances just not enough. Troubling when you read that the Sox shouldn't expect more than 120 innings next year. Really?

Just checking the game summary and have to wonder what did Stewart do wrong in that 2nd inning? Gets the first two outs on strike outs and then allows three runs -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) I love El Rockin's faith. Ultimate optimist. This season cured me of that, however. Too dismal a season in almost all ways. But Greg remember there is always next year -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Man, I'm not one to point out grammar/spelling mistakes. I'm certainly not perfect in that department. But what the hell? lol. And you've had quite a few of these of late. Do you post from your phone? And what do you mean by "keep up the pressure?" I don't pruf reed enuff as i tipe two quickyl Keep up the pressure means we shouldn't give up yet. Let's make as much of a push at the Tigers as we can regardless of what we think our chances may be -

Zach Stewrt's start here is what I think is key to whethegr he might be in our rotation in 202. You ahev to be consistent and win . Can't go from a superb one hit shut out in one game to getting blown out in the next. Let us win this one and keep up the pressure. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) Eric Karros noticed that his bat speed is off. He's reacting late to pitches and not starting his swing soon enough. He must have a severe mental block that's affecting his mechanics. I think that is probably correct. It is called 3 for 81 against lefties, etc, etc , There is something really wrong here with his approach and everything when it comes to hitting. We have heard it all from observers including "he just looks lost up there." Question is can he recover for next season. Can you imagine another collosal flop year from Adam Dunn? -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) I didn't catch the game...but what exactly did Ozzie do this time? I think HE must not have hitm fielded or ran the bases but instead counted on the players to do it -

Let's not forget we won the game And you know what I read the article posted here and I agree with Ozzie 100% -
I know enough about the game never to say never or outright dismiss any possibility, but in all likelihood JJuan Pierre is with another team next year, Nationals, Malins, or some other team looking to fill a spot with a vet - slowing down or not

Alexei swinging wildly again and K's on three pitches
