Garland and Vazquez take a lot of the same type critical hits. But, I like them both. I would hope that what we have seen lately out of all our starters is just the inevitable bump in the road you see in any season from the pitchers. None of our starters outside of Buerhle, and maybe Danks, have been pitching that great the last couple weeks or so,

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) Theo Epstein has said he will deal Manny Ramirez if Manny would waive his 10 and 5 rights. Manny has since said he will waive his no trade rights should the Red Sox work out a trade. With Ortiz just coming back and still a bit of a risk because of the injured wrist, might the Red Sox be interested in a package built around Konerko? Possibly something involving Poreda and Getz? I know Manny has quite a bit more value than Paulie right now, but considering Manny's $20 million options in 09' and 10' may need to be picked up in order to make a trade work, as well as Boston's desire to really rid themselves of him this time, I think his value comes down a bit. Swish could then move to 1b, Quentin could move to center, with Manny taking over in left. Would that OF defense be decent enough for this to be a positive impact? Would Manny's antics scare Kenny and Ozzie away? Would the Red Sox trade him within the American League? Would this lineup scare the s*** out of other teams? 1) OC 2) AJ 3) Manny 4) Q 5) Thome 6) Dye 7) Swisher 8) Alexei 9) Crede/Uribe/whomever Thoughts? Sorry, bored on a Sunday after a loss... Manny Ramirez is one of the big sluggers of this game today, but I just don't see him bringing chemistry to this team other than his own. I'd pass on him.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) No PK. Thank the Lord. Now if we lose, all the Konerko-siders will say we lost because we didn't have his captain presence in the lineup. Please. Konerko is an important member of this team, but if they lose or win it's as a tem IMO

I wonder though how long it will take before we read the trade Dye while his value is high posts on this board?

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) I think some are over-valuing Floyd in this thread. Maybe. But, when you consider his age, the fact he has won 10 games this year and his future potential I wouldn't be so quick in wanting to trade him for a rent-a-player that's for sure. We have to be concerned about the team future as far as pitchers are concerned too. I would have thought Contreras would be trade bait, but with his injury I am sure we wouldn't get much in rteturn at this point.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) thats what i was wondering...he had two rough outings where he gave up 2 runs (and some inherited runners iirc) but its not like masset/logan were any better in those games....and i thought he was solid before that..frankly i thought the guy was a better option than nick I wasn't impressed with Erin this year, but maybe time at AAA has gotten him back on track

With the LA Dodgers trading for Casey Blake I would assume the Dodgers aren't a possible trading partner anymore. Thoughts?

I feel strongly both ways about those two games Actually maybe the Texas game just casue iut was payback time for CQ and the Sox

QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 04:16 AM) After reading the game thread and having discussions on Sox fans booing Paulie, I wouldn't get too cocky in my evaluation of another team's fans. I think it's a shame the way Sox fans treated PK.

How can you put psychological value on the last two come from behind wins for this team? First 5 in the 8th vrs Texas and now 2 in the 9th with 2 out to win vrs Detroit. Wow!

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 04:16 AM) Who's Francisco Liriano? He killed himself a bear when he was only three ..... wait that was a different guy

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:44 AM) almost did, but almost doesnt work. Are you sure or are you just pulling my leg?

I luv Paulie but 3-89 MPH fastballs and you take two and pop up to the catcher? Please!

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) They caught Magglio in a run down between third and home. Thanks

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:36 AM) Good D! What happened. I see Floyd K'd Joyce and Shef was next up

Things aren't looking good here for Floyd or the Sox. I hope Ozzie isn't looking for a quality start tonight and leaves Floyd in there for 7

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:31 AM) FYI the deal was Marte and Nady for Ohlendorf, Coke, Kontos, and Tabata WHO?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:30 AM) No, because I understand he's been hurt all year and is healthy now and know what he has done during his career, and know he will outperform guys like Wise and Anderson when its all said and done. Just like when everyone said Thome was done. Just like when Jermaine Dye was renamed Jermaine Dead. Hard outs is the next step to hard hits. Konerko will come out of this and might even carry this team. Mark my words

I am watching game day but I can hear Hawk saying "he just missed it'"danggumit all"

bases juiced for Carlos Q

Swish could take a lesson from OC tonight. You look at balls not strikes. You hit strikes. Baseball offense 101

QUOTE (sox1844 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) I think so too, but his error was weird... it was more that he just got nervous or something, not like he missed a catch or a throw. Probably just the jitters. The knock on him last year was that he often messed up the routine plays

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) I agree, I'd rather have those guys than PK. But to start complaining about Fields already is comical. If he is our only real option at 3B with Crede is on the DL I agree we must support Josh Fields
-
I think we need better pitching. The only one that has been doing his job is Mark B over the last 7 or so games. Maybe it's just that dead arm period that is talked about so much? Defense is sloppy. But, Fields isn't the only one with an error either.

Crede to DL, Fields Called Up, Loaiza Released

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) The only downside is that Detroit's offense has been red hot and the defensive drop off is gonna hurt. And I am worried that Josh Fields will be a defensive drop off. We all want the best and I hope Crede will rebound from this injury. Too many people out there just ready to jump on the I told you so bandwagon. They forget the contributions he made prior to the break.
