Too bad he couldn't be taught to miss the wood bat with the white ball

I now see a report on Chisox.Com that this signing has not come to pass. The way things go around here with the Sox I would guess he signs with some other team now that we are the "front runner"

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jan 16, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) Pasqua did stink. Another guy would be Bobby Bonds. He sucked as a Sox. Bobby was with us less than a full year wasn't he? He brought the Cubs Sosa from Texas via the Sox though. The Cubbie fans probably luved Bobby

I don't give much credence to the idea that Ozzie Guillen has any pull with Latin players period. Not after we lost out on Vizquel and others he was supposed to be such good friends with anyway.
-
I forgot how much a dissapointment Paniagua was. He brought some disgrace to our club for his behavior also.

If they wore a Sox uniform I loved them. You can't "hate" any Sox or former Sox player. Now if you say "disappointment: that's a different story.

Colon is a battler. If healthy, or at least as healthy as we can be sure of, he might be worth the chance. I still wonder about the condition of Freddie Garcia. I liked him too

Tigers not a lock for AL Central title

Now that Leyland thinks we are improved and will be right there in the thick of it I have changed my opinion. I feel very strongly both ways about our chances. -
Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 03:41 AM) We'd have had a better chance at Bedard with Gio and DLS than with Swisher, don't you think? I can't imagine Swish was acquired with the intent of being dealt. He's exactly the kind of player we need. I think your right on that one. It amazed me though that KW made such glowing statements about Gio when he traded him, reacquired him and now traded him again. He made it seem that Gio was going to be a main fixture in our starting staff. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) By the way, back onto the original topic of this thread...I think there's certainly 1 way to send Crede to the minors if we wanted to try that. Call it a rehab assignment. Given that he's coming off the 60 day DL I'm sure there's some way to make that work. I think that is going to be called Spring Training

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

QUOTE(LukeGofannon @ Dec 26, 2007 -> 02:24 AM) I usually think of super-subs better than .254/.295/.427 80 OPS+. That's the reason they are subs and not starters -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Thanks for the diagnosis Dr. Crede. And I never even charged you for the exam
-
Welcome JFields27, but you should be in LF Plus to bring the issue of KW up again.. what happened? Disappointing not to hear from him about the rationale behind giving up two young pitching prospects and a promising young OF talent for Swisher. Not that Swisher isn't a good player
-
I remember as a kid watching Sox games on TV and also the WS versus LA. The '59 Sox are a special group

QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) I think hes great too but i don't like his chronic back issues. I thnk the back surgery most likely has cured that problem
-
QUOTE(Vance Law @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) The moves Williams has made in the past and this year: Orlando for Garland, Carter for Quentin, 3 hotshots for Swisher - and the fact that no one ever had ANY inkling, guesstimate, or prediction before they happened seems like great evidence in support of 'pay no attention to moron radio jocks and hometown sports "writers"' who are simply trying to generate listeners/readers by making baseless speculation because they have nothing else to write/talk about in the offseason. All Soxtalk trade suggestions, however, should be considered 85% accurate and likely to happen. Or 15% accurate and really unlikely to occur
-
It wouldn't make any logical baseball sense to send Crede to the minors before you would think of sending Fields back down. It wouldn't happen and no reason to even be thinking about it.
-
Frank Thomas probably helped Swisher in more ways than one.

I have waited in front of my computer for several hours now waiting for word on KW's interview. I guess I will get a cup of coffee and go back to work. Wait it's almost quitting time ...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 03:48 AM) It will be interesting to see if the home run dance he did with Bradley makes its way over to the South Side... I don't think Thome and Konerko can dance can they? -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) I got to be honest, I'd hate a Swisher for Bedard deal. It would be the opposite of what I'd want considering Bedard would be long gone in a year. Free agency has really led to a decline in the ability of teams to compete for quality players/big name stars. But, it does amaze me that simply having the best team money can buy doesn't really translate into a championship. Having that good team spirit and people filling all the holes makes the winner. When might it be A-Rods turn?

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Kenny is on the phone with the Dodgers as we speak. Or his travel agent
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Are they saying its postponed or anything? It does make one wonder, as YAS said, if KW is busy doing something else at the moment... Probbaly delayed at lunch
-
More than likely he simply wants to put a positive spin on it and it will be interesting to hear.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) I think the gaping hole is still in the bullpen, not the rotation. I would like to know the health of both Colon and Garcia. But, I do think one more strong middle reliever would be good. Right now it seems we are hoping like heck that two or three pitchers turn things around, or two rookies actually develop into quality starters.
