If you win your a genius and if you lose you suck as a manager. Bottom line is that the team didn't perform and I am not sure Ozzie can do much about that at all.
-
The Twinkies know how to use the hole they call home to win. We don't know how to adjust when the hitters struggle. Contreras is susceptible to melt downs from time to time and makes his problems worse. Plus we have a bullpen that can't get the big outs when needed right now. They can't hit the strike zone, groove the ball and fail to get the first batter out. Hopefully it will change soon. It usually is a matter of streaks some good some bad. Right now we are bad. But, if we turn around ansd win the next 2 games this will have been a susccesful visit to MPLS.

Neither call up impressed me at all. Gonzalez keeps getting the nod but what has he contributed? Day flopped in his debut. Any other team calls up someone from the minors and they throw shutoutrs and hit homers
-
It was an ugly game. I was so pumped when we got 2 homers off Santana and Konerko's 2 run single had us on top. But, what I have to question is Contreras. Does any other pitcher cause more trouble for themselves then Jose? The pitchers blew it again.
-
Drop in velocity has affedcted others like Jenks too. What is up with that? Maybe it's ther guns and not the pitchers? Or is that too naive of a statement? Unfortunate as it may be Uribe isn't the only Sox hitter not up to par this year. But now that some of the hitters are rebounding the pitchers are headed South

What's with this man love we seem to have with the Reds? Unless it's Griffey so the poor guy can win a World Series for once in his career forget about it!!
-
I think too much is made of the opposing pitcher (s). Our pitchers just have to go out and do their best job everytimer and not worry about whether it's a rookie facing someone like Santana, or another good one.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) I'm not going to second guess anybody for opting to try something other than back surgery. Nor would I. Surgery is the last thing you want to do. I was simply making the obvious observation
-
The way Jon has been pitching I am thinking our chances for a sweep are good. I'll be listening on XM. I see that ESPN has quickly reverted to the Yankees and Red Sox and Mets network
-
Surgery is always a last resort, but you have to wonder if Joe shoudn't have taken that option. Maybe at the end of this year.

Wonder if KW will make a pitch for Percival...

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2007 -> 03:00 AM) If he's genuinely hitting 97, I'd give him a serious, serious look. McDouglas is the one that has me worried. I wonder if he has arm problem or head problems, but he has generally been ineffective recently. he does have a history of arm trouble. We need to be seriously looking at bullpen options. -
Thome is up and that's good for this team. Sweenye went down and that's OK because you know that he will most likely be up for good later this year or to start 2008. Nobody seemed to complain a whole lot last year about Ozuna and Mack was a good acquisition. Pods is the LF'er on this team for 07 and will be again when back from the DL. But, I don't expect him here in 08.

QUOTE(greg775 @ May 21, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Good call, El Rockin! As somebody who figured Masset would get pounded today, I eat my words. Great effort, Masset! If he can pitch like that in relief, man would he be a nice set up man! I'd give him the set up man job now til he blows a couple games. Thanks! I watched the game on WGN and Masset was really good. That curve of his was fantastic. I see that Ozzie issued a challenge directed at Sisco and Aardsma and I hope they tyake it to heart and step up their game a lot.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 20, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) People were more concerned about the radar gun when putting the bullpen together than effectiveness. A lot of people on this site bought it as well. They really shouldn't complain. Your right and that is exactly the selling point made by KW and Ozzie and Cooper. They fell in love with speed.
-
Massett pitching could be what this team needs to spin out of this slump. You do everything the way people expect you to do it and it always fails for the Sox. Sunday it may be different.

QUOTE(spiderman @ May 19, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Hard to argue with the fact that the White Sox are a .500 type team, as that's all they have been since the All Star break last season. Yes, the pitching is improved to this point, but the hitting just is not consistent. I think we are a game away from being over .500. Think positive Spider!

We can still rally
-
Give up a two run homer to the pitcher? We are now officially looking for new ways to blow games

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:15 AM) But it is necessary. I will make this antagonistic declaration right now, because it is needed and accurate. I have 2 thoughts for those of you who, after what Ozzie did from about 8 AM today until 4 PM today, still think he's anything other than a AT LEAST bad manager. 1. Your an idiot. 2. Go become a Cub fan, because only one of them could think anything else of Guillen after today. If we miss the playoffs and he still has a job after this season, I also want Kenny fired as well simply for his loyalty to an idiot. Last year proved Ozzie is a bad manager, today proved that barring a playoff appearance, he must go. If we don't make it to October, I will not tolerate a bad manager with a big mouth who missed the playoffs 3 of his 4 seasons. Period. If you hate to do this then don't

QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) If you're going to play a catcher who can't throw, there's probably no better guy to have on the mound than Buehrle. He either picks guys off or they get a HUGE jump against him. I'm not one to defend Ozzie, but if this was legit, then I have no problem with him going off on Mike North. Was Hall's defense always suspect? I know people liked his bat. He is going to play behind the plate sometime so if he is a bad catcher we need to get used to it. Not like it mind you just have to get used to the errors
-
The bullpen and especially McDougal has been a bit shaky. I want to know what the issue is with Mike M? He has been like gas on the fire the last few appearances. He once had arm problems. Is he pitching hurt again? Plus you can't give up more than 1 or 2 runs a game with our offense in the toliet like it has been.

Crede hit in face with baseball during BP today
elrockinMT replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let's hope it's only for one game. -
I have been less than impressed with McDougal in his last few appearances. I think he has probably given up around 10 hits in less than 3 or 4 innings pitched and a lot of runs besides
-
Do you think we will see Hall as the DH quite a bit? Obviously though they feel he is ready to catch cause we ain't got nobody else to back up AJ.

Would anyone start Contreras over Danks Sunday?
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Who would you send down and why mess up the rotation?
