  1. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:56 AM) There's also a talent issue going on right now. We're simply not designed to hit LHP, and in this division, that's a death sentence. And soft tossers or those with great change ups seem to give us fits also
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) Playing everyday in Charlotte is going to be a whole lot better for Anderson than getting 3 or 4 ABs a week in Chicago. Terrero blows. I don't see how he'll help the team. If he' the best option they have, they might as well just call up another pitcher. I wish we had Joe Borchard right now. He can play all three OF spots and has some power. I am glad we got Thornton for him originally, but I wish we could have traded someone else for him
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) You don't consider Pods to be an injury risk now? What I meant to say is he isn't anymore of an injury risk than Thome right now since both are on the DL. I need to proffreed gudder QUOTE(pale_hose @ May 1, 2007 -> 02:51 AM) how about Dye and a pitching prospect like Broadway or somebody for Carl Crawford? He is one of the best all around players and is young... You don't trade Dye for anyone right now. You try and sign the guy QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) Do you have any sort of evidence to back up any of these posts or are you going with some crazy gut feeling? Gut feelings are not facts, remember that when you're passing them off as such. I love the logic though, an abductor strain will not slow down a speed player and an abdominal strain will not weaken a power hitter with an incredibly violent swing because, well because what? You haven't even given a reason outside of the fans being pessimists and you're some sort of self appointed voice of reason. Sorry I made you angry. But, what I see from you is simply a tendancy to devalue our own players based on 20 games and an attempt to convince everyone the sky is falling. It's a frustrating time, but we have lots of time left in the season. I think we have a good team put together and I believe they will come together when healthy. My logic is obviously different than yours. Nuff said friend?
  4. Erstad is doing just fine and in fact is the reason BA can be sent down to find his groove again. I like what I have seen from Erstad. I think that was a real good find by KW. I like our team and we will all like them better when they break out of the hitting slump.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) How do you know this? Are you the team doctor? Just a voice of reason in an otherwise completely beserk posting world Take two aspirin and call me in the morning
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) Baldelli is a good player, but his price is too high. Want a bigger injury risk than Scott Podsednik? Rocco is your man. I am again amazed at the willingness of our fans to undervalue our own players. Pods is now more more of an injury risk than Thome. They'll both be back soon enough to help win a championship. No need to panic
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Anyone ever suspect that BA went down to get more at bats and develop his new swing better and they brought up Terrero because he is only going to play once a week, and he is the lesser risk as a bench player? They could actually be making a good decision here. I think you might be right and them too
  8. Saw the 77 Sox play a 4 game series versus the Angels in La-La land. Jorge Orta, Richie Zisk, Oscar Gamble, Jim Essian and more. Bil Veeck started that rent-a-player concept and almost pulled it off in 77 with a championship. Real poor pitching for the most part especially the bullpen lost it for us.
  9. Jim Thome will not be out an extended period of time. There is no need to panic.
  10. Bad offense for sure. GIDP's are hanging right in there along with pop ups and K's with runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs. It will get better
  11. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) It would be nice to see Sweeney do well and just keep LF even after Pods comes back. I forgot about Pods coming back also so somebody will be going down to the famr right? Maybe Logan?
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) I hope it's true. He needs to get ab's down in Charlotte. I agree with Kal though, Anderson is done as a member of the White Sox. The common expectation is that Anderson is gone for good and KW and Ozzie are fighting. I don't think that is so on either count. Anderson needs playing time. That was agreed on by both Kenny and Oz. He wasn't ready last year either so hopefully this helps him get on track. I don't know who goes up or down in the near future, but probably not who we expect. I bet we see Hall in pretty soon and Molina down plus Thome will come back and then we keep the players we now have up with the team including Sweeney
  13. We have some real good offensive people who are just struggling right now. Crede is not average nor is Perz or Iguchi. Offense has been one of our major strengths and these guys are above average and higher with the bats. However, it is troubling that this seems to happen (slumps) so often for our guys. I don't know if you blame coincidence, the hitting coach or the elements. I am sure we will be clicking soon though.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 03:31 AM) I need no source. But Rotoworld will back me up. You the man Heads22! Actually I was thinking hat Sweeney would be called up I just didn't want to ruin your status.
  15. I thought I was going to make the May 1-2 series in Seattle, but my wife grounded me
  16. The secret is to score more runs than the opposition. SIMPLE logical math
  17. Why make all these moves? Thome is going to be out maybe 15 games more or less. It's not the end of the world and no need to shuffle an entire roster. Settle down folks!
  18. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) I will be there tonight as well. The weather today is perfect for baseball. Was there Wednesday and it put me in a very bad mood. Looking for better results tonight. Go Jon!! I watched that game on ESPN and was in a bad mood too
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) To add some actual discussion to this, if Thome does hit the DL with a rather serious muscle pull I fully expect a move to be made, there are no position players in AAA with a .700 OPS right now so expecting any of them to come up and produce at even a mediocre rate is probably asking a bit much. Dye would probably be moved to the DH spot considering his age, defensive abilities and injury concerns (that's if he's healthy of course). That would make the outfield Ozuna - Erstad - Mackowiak, quite possibly the worst in baseball. Considering an abdominal strain could linger throughout the year especially with Thome's violent swing a bat would probably need to be brought in to make up for the loss. Kalapse I always knew you were the voice of reason in this crazy place Thome does have one heckuva a hard swing and my suggestion is he go to the opposite field more By the time the opposition figures it out he will be healthy again and swinging away hard.
  20. WGN tonight. I'll be watching and thinkling of all you lucky SoxTalk guys seeing the game in person.
  21. QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 05:27 AM) Chevrolet player of the game. 2-4 2 RBI You mean people on this site didn't like Erstad?
  22. I watched the game on ESPN. First inning woes by our starters again and a real sub par offensive display. I couldn't believe our offense, but when a starter gives up 3 or 4 runs right out of the chute you can't always expect the offense to dig them out. I would like to know what is the problem with these pitchers in that 1st inning? We had our chances last night for sure though.
  23. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Will this game actually be on ESPN HD or will it be blacked out? I am sure we will get the game on ESPN out here in God's Country, but who knows about the Chicagoland area. My concern is that weather forecast also
  24. I am surprised Thome is sitting against a rookie pitcher. What's up with that?
  25. I agree with the rest of yuose all here. Tad Iguchi knows how to play ball and hit in that #2 spot. He can go to the opposite field with the best of them, hit and run, etc. I don't know why there seems to be this need to screw with success?!
