Jenks K's Broussard. 2 outs QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) It will be interesting to see what happens with Ichiro this off-season. I would think his value will be as low as it can be after this season, and it would not suprise me if the M's look to move him sort of behind the scenes. I have heard those rumblings about him. It's either he might be traded or he wants to go back to Japan. I'd take the guy off the Mariners hands though if they really wanted to trade him

Single by Dobbs and Ichiro grounds out. He is mortal 0-5

11-7 in the 9th. A 5 run Sox 8th to come back. Now this is Sox baseball!!!

Intentional walk to Mac and the bases are drunk with Sox

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) He basically is having the best season his career, and it amazes me the flak he takes here at times. I agree. It seems if a player doesn't hit a 1.000 he is a failure in Sox land. 2 on for Cintron

Pineiro walks Pierz and can't find the strike zone right now. 2 balls on Crede... not those

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) What a waste of money Konerko is. Glad we signed him. I have always liked Paulie

Konerko homers and Sox take the lead
-
I don't know what happened to Dye but I sdee by MLB game day he was replaced.
-
I was watching the game on FOX until the rains came. I figured it was over. It isn't on FOX here anymore. I have to use game day and it's always slow
-
That was pukey. Is Dye hurt?

We don't need wholesale changes. We need some fine tuning for sure. However, players do have off years and maybe that's what we are seeing from more players than we would like to see it from, but the cry to trade everyone isn't the right way to go: I have been impressed with Freddie Garcia. He at least has made an effort to improve. Picking up that split finger has made a tremendous difference. I know he makes over $10M though. Trading him might make sense, but we could say that about any player we have. Cotts has failed in the bullpen after a sensational 2005. Why? He gives up way to many homers as does Brandon McCarthy. I just don't see Brandon being the answer in the starting rotation. Pods steals some bases, but his average is down and every year seems to go a bit lower. Anderson shows some good signs once in awhile, but at other times he is simply overmatched. There is always next year

QUOTE(blazewc77 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) Do you guys think we can get possibly Michael young for Uribe and Freddy Garcia and maybe a minor leaguer? Who would you give up ? or anyone else in the starting rotation instead of Freddy? Contending teamd don't trade criticalparts of their club just to fill some other need. We could get any player on any team if we are willing to trade a lot for one

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) They need to go the Wizard of Oz. Get it? Wizard of Oz? :uhoh :uhoh :uhoh Thanks Greasy!

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Let some one else over pay him My guess is that is exactly what will happen. He has one good year and the Yankmees will pay him $100M for 10 years or something like that

Will our starting pitchers bounce back next year?
elrockinMT replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) One has to go. There's no way in hell we can keep Brandon in the 'pen for another year. You use McCarthy as trade bait. I have not been impressed. I would keep our 5 current starters -
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) If I traded a starter it would Garcia (whose value has shot up recently,) then Contreras, then Vazquez, then Buehrle and finally Jon. Jon is the last guy I would trade, he was out best pitcher for the last two seasons. Why would you trade any of our starting pitchers to get another starting pitcher? We have 5 good arms and I think we wouls be wrong to consider trades. I would be more in favor of using B Mac as trade bait. If a Mark Buerhle went for a Dontrelle Willis at least we are getting a hard throwing lefty, but losing a team leader with tons of talent. We are too quick to want to dismantle a pitching staff that was dominant in 2005 and still shows at times they are really, really good. Next year I think they will be there again. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Well you look at a guy like Javier Vazquez who came over from the NL in 2005; 2005 - 4.42 ERA, 1.25 WHIP 2006 - 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP (Post ASB 4.14 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) The increase hasn't been huge at all there, and Vaz has shown in the 2nd half what he's capable of. Vazquez had done very well and has stuff so good he is gwtting double digit K's often. I think he had turned the corner. I have posted before that I think we ar wrong to look at breaking up our starting pitching.

White Sox scored 11 runs in the Detroit series
elrockinMT replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We won a lot games and had real good offense for the most part this year. The pitching hasn't done its part this season and in my opinion that has been the weak link in this team. Small ball wouldn't have done us a lot of good on Wednesday night when the pitching staff gives up 6 runs. I don't have a problem with the long ball as long as aour pitchers don't exchange the favor with the opposing offense.
