  1. My guess is he will be gone even though pitching is the name of the game. My feelling is that Kenny is trying to stock up with young pitchers tyhat have a real upside side so he can afford to let guys like Buerhle, Vazquez and Garcia go when there contracts are up. Just my guess though.
  2. I am a bit confused as far as how we determine or rate prospects. He doesn't throw hard comes up quite a bit. But, Buerhle and many others don't throw hard. I am thinking any pitcher with a 13-5 record and an ERA under 3.00 in a bandbox the Knights play in may very well be a starting option or possibility. Plus he is a lefty, which can't be all bad even thought they are left out of the right world.
  3. QUOTE(kwill @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) 3 was deal White sox get: Crawford+Figgins Angels get: Crede+Garcia Tanpa Bay get: E. Santana and a prospect It makes sense for all parties. Tampa gets a great young pitcher. Angels get that power bat in Crede and front line starter in Garcia. We get the table setters for the middle of the lineup...Imagine the lineup, CHONE CRAWFORD DYE THOME KONERKO AJ TADIHITO URIBE SWEENEY/ANDERSON/FIELDS tHATS WHATS GREAT ABOUT FIGGINS, WE COULD SEE WHO IS THE BEST PROSPECT. Thanks Kenny!
  4. I always saw Freddie Garcia take his turn on the mound, battle all the way even when he wasn't good, and come back ready to go again in 5 days. It seems like the fact the Sox didn't win in 2006 was all Freddie's fault when reading thsen posts. If one guy is to blame then who do we blame for failing to win 1960 through 2004? I think he was hurt some of last year and that was the problem. 2007 will be better for all our pitchers.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) The problem was those last 3 were all the same pitch. I like that
  6. Remember that most likely no one is untouchable, but it would take a lot of gold to pry certain players away. I think Garland is one of those players. My hope is he isn't going anywhere. It amazes me of the trade rumors that have the Sox trading away all six starting pitchers at one time or another and all we get back is minor league talent that may or may not make it to the bigs. remember all the pitching talent we traded away to get experienced players for the stretch drive. How many of them have developed into stars? It seesm trading away our starters for possibles is going against the grain.
  7. He gives up a lot of homers so he will fit right in with the other pitchers on the staff
  8. Garcia AND a pitching prospect for Wells? No way and we don't really need Wells anyway. Why trade our strength and what wins games for another hitter? We have youngsters that can play the field and you never have enough pitching. I would like us to keep our starting hurlers. Maybe we can pick up a reliever as a FA or trade though.
  9. QUOTE(Chi Town Sox @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) THANKYOU elrockinmt Which of these players do most of you enjoy watching now that took the Sox some time to groom? A. Jon Garland - other than '05 and gettin rocked earlier this year and being awesome later on in the years, nothing but high 4 ERA's B. Joe Crede - until this year never batted over .261 in a FULL season, defense ended up coming around in a MAJOR way C. Neal Cotts - 5.65 ERA in first full season, I remember all of you who were giddy about how good he was last year thhen jumped off the cottswagon - will PROBABLY and HOPEFULLY be alot better this year proving why he was a 2nd round pick out of ISU D. Jose Contreras ( to some extent ) - not a very good pitcher at all ( showed flashes, but still took time), almost singlehandedly put the team on his shoulders on his way to a ring. E. All of the above Why not give Brian Anderson, a CF who makes Defense look effortless and easy, when our team is BASED on defense a chance to shine and let his hitting come around? 1st rounder for some reason or another - lets let him tell us why P.S. Joe Borchard is the major exception in my post haha The correct answer is E, so lets take a look how these guys turned out I would have to say Joe Crede is my favorite followed by Garland and he is a close second. I always have a feeling Crede is going to come through in the clutch at the plate and I love his fielding. But yes, E is a good answer too.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Figured this deserved it's own thread, instead of just dumping it in the off-season thread. From today's Sun Sentinel down in Florida; Andino wasn't in the Marlins top 20 prospects in John Sickels list coming into this season (although that's more due to the depth of the Marlins system as a whole). He's 22 and had splits of .255/.303/.363 in the PCL for Alberquque this season. For comparisons sake, Joaquin Arias who the Rangers may offer up for Brian Anderson, had splits of .268/.296/.361 in the PCL also this season. I'd hope to do better for BA quite frankly. I would agree that if Brian was to be traded it would be for a better return. However, I am not so certain he will be traded. He has a lot of potential and started to show promise in the 2nd half last season. Problem is we seem , at least on this forum, to give up too quickly on our own players and undervalue them besides. Look at Jon Garland as an example.
  11. Interesting free agent year, but I think the fact there aren't a lot of top of the line players will make it a tough year to sign without paying too much. I like JD Drew, but not at $12M plus ayear. You always have the usual suspects waiting and willing to pay a Japanese import or Cuban defector with no ML experience an outrageous amount. My guess is we keep Pods or go with our youngsters and maybe sign a free agent reliever or even make a trade, but no big time FA signing.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 11, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) 2005 spurred on the 2006 attendance you speak of. Season ticket sales went through the roof. From everything we have heard(including my ticket rep) renewal rates are around 90% for 2007. There is still a ton of interest in this 90 win ball club. If they come out of the gate strong like they have the last two years, I see no reason why attendance wont be close to what it was in 06. That's what I am talking about! Playoff games for 2005 didn't mean anything for 2006, but almost 3M in attendance did.
  13. Shefiield talk is now done. He was traded to the Tigers for pitching. I don't think they were ML hurlers, but 3 prospects.
  14. I think that if A-Rod were put back at shortstop that a deal wouldn't be a terrible move for the Sox, but not necessarily the players mentioned in the story.
  15. I think Brian is staying and all this talk is nonsense. Writers need something to stir up and it's Brian Anderson getting some stomach ailment, losing weight and leaving the team. Heck I think he did what was right. If your sick go to a real Doctor for treatment. tell me where/when did BA make a fuss? I didn't hear anything from the team either and both ozzie and KW aren't shy about telling someone their pissed off.
  16. I think an established 25 yr old OF'er with the stats that Crawford has shown would be a great pick up in exchange for a rookie unproven but potentially very good pitcher. But, that's why I don't think BMAC by himself will be enough to swing that kind of deal with the DRays
  17. Can we just cut to the here and get Jose valentin back in a Sox uniform?
  18. The real secret to beating the Tigers, or any other team, is to score more runs than they do
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) I saw the exact opposite when watching Riske, and was very unimpressed. Not suprising at all Riske will not be brought back. I agree. Riske did not perform the way I think the Sox expected him to. Hermanson, Logan and Tracey didn't do the job either. Hermamnson is a great competitior, but physically is a concern.
  20. He will most likely end back up in Oakland
  21. stop gaps are solutions that medoicre teams sign. Pods is ajust as good as Roberts and he isn't much if any improveemnt over Pods.
  22. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Oct 28, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) just saw him How would you know I thought you were dead?
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) We have to do something with Josh fields...and with Boras as his agent, Crede leaving seems to be the answer. I love Crede...no doubt. Josh Fields can play LF. He is not the caliber of thirdbaseman that Joe Crede is. I would not want to trade Joe Crede. He can be signed for less than A-Rod is making plus if we did make a trade for A-Rod then the Rod could play SS. The only reason A-Rod is at third for the yankmees is because of Jeter. Uribe to the Yankmees or keep him as the super sub. New York needs pitching.
