QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) Pierre in CF, Fields and in LF. Sweeney gets another year in AAA and is insurance in case Fields cannot handle it. Trade Anderson with Garcia for something? Maybe a young mets pitching prospect or bullpen help. Please be realistic and serious. You trade both Garcia and Anderson for a prospect? I hope they keep Garcia and Anderson. Fields may be the LF'er of the future, but Pods may be back.

The more I think about this issue the more I hope we don't make this trade or FA signing. I think we have the home grown talent to play CF and maybe we will keep Pods and if his legs are healthy he will give us the speed.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Juan and his brother shot a navy officer while he was eating some chicken. I remember Juan on the big screen saying his favorite food was "Pollo con arroz." So is mine, but why did he shoot an Italian Naval Officer over dinner?

I always liked Rock Raines. Great personality and ballplayer. Apparently not an Ozzie fav though.

Any realistic way to upgrade the starting pitching?
elrockinMT replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am not certain that we need to upgrade starting pitching. Relief pitching yes, starting pitching I don't think so. I am hoping a good off season rest with the right physical workout program will make our starters better. -

The Yankees aren't going to trade him, but if they did it would be to an NL team. They don't want A-Rod coming back to haunt them.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) I am going to say this right now... there would be about 29 teams who would be interested in Brian Anderson. The guy is going to be good, and everyone in baseball knows it. He has great potential. I am hoping the Sox don't make a rash decision based on a subpar 2006 season from Brian. I really believed he learned a lot and with some more seasoning in Venezula he might be pretty good in '07

Well, Beane aside I love the Big Hurt so I am rooting for him, if not the A's team

Bud Selig Nervously Informs Ozzie Guillen That White Sox Aren't Ma

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Today is the final day of the White Sox reign as World Series Champions, at least in my mind, since they didn't qualify for the tournament to repeat. I just wanted to post my gratitude to the Sox for the most fun I've had as a baseball fan. This past year has been a blast! THANKS for the memories, and GET 'EM AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!! I agree with you, Critic, but the Sox are still Champs until the new one is crowned so I am still hanging on to that. But, we will be back in 2007.

Great friends here at Soxtalk. I loved the pick to click postings too. I will keep checking here daily over the off season cause the folks here are just as crazy baseball Sox fans that I am. Can't wait to see what develops in the carribean leagues and the AFL. Plus the baseball winter meetings. We will win this again in 2007.

QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) Crede is always underrated in my opinion. Last year in the playoffs I was surprised he did not win the AL Championship Series MVP instead of Konerko since every hitting stat he was equal or slightly ahead wasnt he? Yet he still did not win it. I also thought he should have made it to the all star game this year and he did not. It is not fair, he never gets any recognition he deserves. Now the talk of wanting to ship him out to make way for Fields after a career year, dont understand that either, even if some of it is financial. I believe the Sox should be keeping someone like Joe Crede. He has gotten better every year and the last two has been a clutch performer both in the field and at bat

Was our best hitter on the bench most of the year?
elrockinMT replied to Felix's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Role players do well when they are in their element. Everytime one gets a good game under their belt we start with this "they should have been the regular," stuff. Konerko is the man and has done darn good, -
I like what I have seen from Jon Garland and Freddie Garcia. Contreras flopped in the 2nd half, Vazquez strikes out a lot of hitters but is prone to those big innings and Buerhle hasn't been right for awhile this year. I look forward to Sunday's game on WGN to see Vazquez and how he finishes. I want a sweep vrs the Twins to take me through till "07

The offense isn't the problem

Stick with who we have and go with a six man rotation. I like the idea and maybe if the team had gone with six starters this year (you don't have to use the sixth man every sixth day mind you) maybe the starters would have been better. I think our biggest problem is shoring up the bullpen. If we can upgrade at LF and maybe CF then great, but I don't see it being the same priority as the pen. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) trade Javy, not freddy. Let him have a good half with someone else. We need someone to have a good year. Freddy was never right coming off the WBC. Let him go home and harvest his crops, kick it, and come back strong. from whitesoxfan I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend this is a joke. I'd rather have 1 good half from Vazquez then no good halves from Garcia I wouldn't trade either of them. Garcia has done what the others should have done and that's work on being more effective. He has shown what he can do and it's be dominant. The new picth or improved pitch he has come up with and his ability to mix them up plus an increase in speed in his fastball has made him a consistent winner again. We have a good group of players and with just a little tweaking will be right in there again next season.

Was our best starting pitcher in the bullpen all year ?
elrockinMT replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Mac is going to start he needs to work on pitch selection and location. he gives up way to many homers, which has also seemed to be a problem with other Sox pitchers this year. -
QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) I'm almost starting to think he's worth a shot...especially if a package sends BMac, Freddy or Javie somewhere. Maybe he's better suited as a starter. I know he was usually put in with inherited runners for the most part...but the guy did not look comfortable all year long. At one point...wasn't that a thought at some time in the past year or so? Leaves a hole in the bullpen...not really IMO. It was a hole with him in there this year. I used to think so too. But, his season as a relief pitcher has been so far opposite of last year and the number of long balls he gives up is scary so I just am not sure anymore. Lefties in the starting rotation are good things though and if he can get straightened out as a starter I think it's worth a look anyway.
-
Too bad we gave up the final game by such a lop sided margin to the Indians. I would have hoped for better than a 14-1 butt kicking. There is always next year though.
-
I might have to buy Strat-o-Matic or APBA o r something
-
I have a lot of questions about whether or not McCarthy is ready or not too. I also wonder about just what happened to Cotts. Sunday he gave up two more homers and didn't get a batter out. He has sucked big time this year.

I think this game is on WGN today so I'll be watching. See you on the television
