  1. If Ozzie Guillen ever starts making baseball moves concerning line up changes, batting orders and personnel based on posts from this board he should be fired! B)
  2. I have been a Sox fan since 1959. Nuff said?! Plus I have an autographed Geoff Blum baseball from last year.
  3. I watched this game on WGN and can say that I went from absolutely ecstatic to deeply depressed. Dye showed why he is the MVP of this team. he has hit 9th ining tieing homers off two of the toughest releivers this year (the Bosox guy and now the Twinkies guy). The offense did the job but the CF defense failed and Uribe messed up one too. But then again Uribe made some fine plays. I really came away with the confirmation that Macowiak doesn't belong in CF and seeing Perzynski swing like he did that all hitters try for is the homer. The one thing about Gooch though is to remember it was his 9th inning opposite field hit that set up the Dye homer. I am also just sick of the way our starting pitching has stunk and sunk. We still have time to recover and win this thing, but seeing the Tigers in a slump now and us still playing like crap since the all-star break compared to a fired up Twins team doesn't bode well for a return to the playoffs.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 03:45 AM) Please no one blame the fan. Hell, he at least tried to help us win. That's more than I can say about quite a few of the guys who played tonight. You are correct. Plus to answer the post title and question about "what's new?" I say to you the day is new. I will be watching on WGN and hoping for some fire and a good approach against Santana.
  5. Neal Cotts hasn't been good for a long time when called from the pen. What could be wrong? Is he that out of form then when he pitched last year. He had a 1.93 ERA or something last season and every game he pitches in now he gets blasted. But, in his defense it seeme the whole bullpen other than Jenks has been a hit or miss proposition. One game they are good and the next we have like yesterday. 3 innings pitches and 6 runs given up plus that inevitable home run they surrender.
  6. There a good line up no doubt, but the 81 games they play in that piece of garbage they call a ballpark is one reason they hit well. They know how to take advantage of home field turf. We can beat them in Chicago.
  7. There is no reason why we can't sweep the Twins. If Vazquez can step up and at least give 6 quality innings I think the pen can do the rest. Contreras and Buerhle can perform like champs and now is the time to do it.
  8. We are going to be looking at a revamped rotation is my guess. I see Freddie probably gone and maybe Vazquez and even one more. I think Garland will be the ace. McCarthy replaces one pitcher and it doesn't hurt to have one more lefty so why not give Thornton a shot at it?
  9. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Today he is. Nice to see, he was a big reason we had that great start.. 3 hits from the leadoff spot and it's been awhile since we saw that.
  10. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) What board is it, Motown sports? JUICE? Maybe it's Gatorade or us. Our boys don't use the juice.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Sigh... there's one in every crowd. Oh well you can't pick family they say...
  12. Jon Garland has been dominating and he is showing that it can be done without having to blow everyone away. trust in your stuff and he does.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Iguchi hits about .320 against righties and .233 against lefties this season. So naturally, Ozzie always plays him against the lefties and sits him against righties. Platooning right vrs lefty and lefty vrs righty is overrated that's for sure.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Not true at all. Iguchi is a righthanded hitter who is worthless against LHP. So you have 3 hitters, pods, gooch and thome who can all be neautralized by a LOOGY. I have seen some production lefty against lefty every once in awhile, but what is this you are saying about the Gooch against lefties? What is his average do you know? I think thatbwhat you are kind of getting at here is a platoon situation and if so I would argue that. Now Pods is in a slump and you do see Pablo more and more, but I don't see him offensively performing at the level he did earlier. He is hitting at a higher BA then Pods for sure, but not as many AB's
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Because with Thome in the 3 hole, our top three hitters are worthless against LHP. Not only that, but Dye is better with runners in scoring position and gets more hits, which would allow our place setters to score more often. Just because we hit alot of HR's before, doesn mean the offense could be more efficient. our team is garbage against Lefties. No doubt we need a good right handed bat to bring in, but all in all I am satisfied with the offense. Can't argue with the problem we have with lefties though. Remmeber last year they all said we were too heavy from the right side. Now it's too many LH bats.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) WTF??? CASEY THROWN OUT AT 1ST BY OZUNA IN LF!!! WHAT A PLAY, WHAT WAS CASEY DOING?!?! I read this play-by-play account on MLB game day. I hope they show this on ESPN BBTN or something. What they heck happened there?
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Right now, without a doubt. I'd be beside myself if we lost Dye right now....... Also, I wouldnt mind OZ giving Dye a couple days off in RF, and plug Gload or MAck in there while Thome's gone to give his leg's some rest. maybe this will finally convince Oz that he belongs there I don't know why anyone is even bringing the #3 hitter up as far as Dye is concered. Thome, Konerko, DYE and Crede have provided is with some real thunder and then Iguchi, Pierzynski and sometime Uribe to boot. Doesn't matter who is in the #3 spot we have a ton of offense.
  18. Just logged on at work to check game day. Garland is magic and Dye is the wizard. If we can at least split this series I will feel good about our chances of making a run at that number one spot and even better about the wild card.
  19. I don't have a lot of confidence in Freddie Garcia but if he gives up 5 runs as usual and we score 6 what else matters? I'll be watching on ESPN tonight. See you on the television
  20. Eggs, (juevos) You are frustrated just like we all are. I am still thinking we can take these Tigers, but I'll settle for the Wild Card to get into post season. But, we do have to start playing like winners.
  21. McCarthy is long relief. We haven't needed long relief for awhile now. But, none of the relief corp (except Jenks) has been that consistent either. Cotts and BMac equal at lest one homer given up per appearance.
  22. 4-0 Tigers now after Buerhle gives up a homer. A game is not complete without our guys giving up at least one homer. There will probably be more to come though. I can't figure out what these guys are doing anymore, but we give up a lot of 4-baggers. But, we are still in wild card contention, if they can just get their heads free of that lower orifice.
  23. Phils CF Rowand could miss rest of the year with broken ankle Aug. 22, 2006 PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Phillies center fielder Aaron Rowand could miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken ankle in a nasty collision in Monday's 6-5 win over the Chicago Cubs. Rowand was put on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, but is expected to miss four to six weeks, team officials said. Rowand has been outstanding defensively for the Phillies, who are locked in a tight race for the wild card. Rowand broke his left ankle in the bottom of the eighth inning when he collided with second baseman Chase Utley while charging a short fly ball by John Mabry. Rowand hobbled off the field and was taken to a hospital for X-rays. It's the second time this season the gritty Rowand has been put on the DL for a fracture. In May he missed two weeks with a fractured nose and broken bones around his left eye after he ran face-first into the outfield wall to make a catch. Rowand is hitting .262 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs this season after arriving in Philadelphia from the Chicago White Sox in a trade for Jim Thome. He will return to Philadelphia from Chicago to see a specialist after he is cleared to fly.
  24. Reports from Phillies is that Rowand broke his ankle. I am looking for the story, if someone else already has it. The guy always gives 100%.
